ive struggled this week as DH is away and I've found it hard to get any time for myself what with aged dog and young dog plus extra poorly DD

my plan ( having seen myself in shorts) is to do every day next week to try to boost my exercise. I used to do it daily on top of all other yoga/exercise. Bloody hell!

Better late than never I have just done Yoga for the future with adriene, not too challenging which is good as I'm pretty out of practice. Loved it

Yogachick · 21/06/2023 17:53
Did this in the garden this morning, first outdoor practice of the year. I remember this from when I liked my yoga intense, strong and sweaty. Turns out I still do! Big chunk of time ,but it flew by. Love it!

Nice to find these threads, would love to tag along!

I began yoga for the first time in the spring of 2022 (age 48) and moved on quickly from there. Did a few vinyasa flow classes but tend to prefer private, slower paced practice. I also have a playlist which alternates various favourites depending on which mood I am in for the day/eve. Very fond of the older Adrienne videos as well as Cassandra and Tim.

It is really helpful to hear where others struggle and overcome challenges. I too slipped out of practice last November due to the flu and only got back into it last month. Just so so delicious to be back! I had become quite stiff and felt detached from my physicality for a while, and I wonder how many people go around each day not even realising this. I think yoga gives you that awareness, that connection to how your body feels and exists in space.

I'm not much of a drinker, but find that whenever I am doing yoga regularly (5 to 6 days a week, depending) I never feel the urge to drink alcohol. Only noticed this recently. It is as if my mindset changes. It is like yoga puts me 'into' myself and alcohol takes you out of it ...interesting stuff.

Thanks for all of the vids posted here, I have bookmarked a few of them to try out. Might try the Adrienne beach flow when I have the time. Had no idea she was a natural curly!

Kassandra

Yogachick · 22/06/2023 10:05

@MintyAraminta i know what you mean,no yoga I seem to be against my body, yoga we’re in this together. I’m a much nicer person to others and myself when I yoga. This morning I did Self worth from the membership but didn’t particularly enjoy it. I’ve a bit more time today so followed with yoga joy, that one hit the spot, despite my iPad overheating and stopping half way through! I’m trying to find my vibe ,instead of struggling through calendars I don’t fully enjoy

If I went to a vinyasa yoga class, would that be similar to Yoga with Adriene?

Cheers 😊

Sooverthemill · 23/06/2023 22:54

@MichaelAndEagle she trained in hatha and I think it’s a mix of that and vinyasa

OK thanks. Think I'm going to give it a go.
I've done yoga at home for a couple of years but never done a class yet.

Rummikub · 23/06/2023 23:32

Once the weekend hot weather goes away I’ll restart.

that hands free yoga/ no downward dog looks like a great place to start!

Sooverthemill · 24/06/2023 08:08

I repeated yesterday’s Kassandra which really is a lovely fast way to start the day all stretched! How’s everyone?

Boost from the membership in the garden for me today. Found it super tough today so maybe something less intense will beckon tomorrow.Bastard midgy got me right at the top of my inner thigh. Won’t be yogaing in short shorts again!

ihatethecold · 25/06/2023 09:50

Ive just completed The 7 day Nourish series. so good. just what I needed. day 5 Detoxify was fab. It really helped me build up my core basic knowledge of moves. Day 7 and ive just been doing the dancer without falling over!!
Im very interested in the eagle crunches! I cant imagine what that is.

ihatethecold · 25/06/2023 09:51

@MintyAraminta I wonder if you are getting the dopamine hit from yoga so not needing it from alcohol

Yogachick · 25/06/2023 10:50

True Day 25 Be Aware again in the garden. It’s such a short time I can practice outside I like to make the most of it,tho longer shorts today. There was full planks to forearm planks and a bit of dolphin in there so was nice and peppy

Jumbojem · 25/06/2023 22:42

I'm still slowly plodding through "yoga camp". I'm on Day25 so might actually finish soon. I swear I started it mid May.
Some interesting looking videos been shared here, but I must not get distracted as whilst I've really enjoyed Yoga Camp I'm sick of how long it's taking me to finish.
We are half way through the year now, half way to a new YWA 30 day series. I wonder when she starts recording them?

ScottishBeth · 26/06/2023 08:02

@jumbojem Are the videos long for yoga camp? I'm doing Revolution and lots of them are between 30 and 35 minutes and I'm finding that slightly too long, so I often do something else instead.

I've done lots of non-Revolution practices in the past week. Have had a difficult week (had a UTI) so not had much energy. All cleared up now thankfully. And for next time I've found my GP has a really good system for UTIs.

I did Yoga for self doubt the other day, which I'd never done before but was lovely. And yesterday did Revolution day 14 - Forgiveness. I've got an easy morning this morning so once I've had my cup of tea I'll do day 15.

Sooverthemill · 26/06/2023 08:27

A shorter Kassandra today as I felt under time pressure despite getting up at 5.30. A stretchy morning one

OP posts:
Sooverthemill · 26/06/2023 08:28

@Jumbojem she used to record them
in November but last year it was September. I think she needed to change because of her mums poor health ( she had a stroke)

Jumbojem · 26/06/2023 11:12

@ScottishBeth the Yoga Camp videos are 30-40 minutes. I did one of the Centre ones this morning as I only had about 20 mins. Found it much faster pace and didn't realise it was a core centric one.
So I do like the pace of the older ones but you do need the time!

Yogachick · 26/06/2023 13:43

@ScottishBeth Yoga Camp practices are looooong, one of the reasons I’ve not done it. That and I like my yoga more energetic. Today was True Day 26. First day back at work after 2 weeks in the glorious sunshine!

ihatethecold · 27/06/2023 08:41

what do you recommend after MOVE? Ive done nourish and ive dipped into other series but not liking them as much. 30 mins max ideally and like some core work

ScottishBeth · 27/06/2023 08:46

@ihatethecold have you done Center? It was her series from this year. I really liked it. There was some core stuff in there as well, though I can't remember how much. Also practices tended to be 20-30 minutes I think.

@Yogachick how are you finding True? Are you enjoying it?
