ive struggled this week as DH is away and I've found it hard to get any time for myself what with aged dog and young dog plus extra poorly DD

my plan ( having seen myself in shorts) is to do every day next week to try to boost my exercise. I used to do it daily on top of all other yoga/exercise. Bloody hell!

@Sooverthemill sometimes that brings the most benefit, you can feel nuances within the practice each day

Sooverthemill · 09/06/2023 08:12

And again. I love warrior 2!

@yogachick yes I absolutely agree. I feel myself doing each pose more mindfully

I did the hips and core one on the beach yesterday. I couldn't keep up! Made me realise how much slower the YWA practices I've been doing are. The Yoga Camp ones are long compared to Move/Centre but the pace is much slower and I think I've got used to that now, it was a real shock to the system to have some faster paced flow!

Sooverthemill · 09/06/2023 20:49

@Jumbojem that's the one I've been doing. Quite nice to be a bit out of breath!

True Day 4- Floor. Ran out of time and gave up when I got to Boat near the end. Loathe Boat,it’s so very hard and always ends up hurting my back, obviously because my abs are feeble

ScottishBeth · 11/06/2023 08:02

Hello everyone!

@Yogachick that sounds grim! Sometimes she does something and you just can't face it!

I've had a pretty bad cold so been a bit out of it. I missed another day a few days ago, then for a couple of days I did gentle bedtime practices as they were all I could face. Yesterday I was feeling a bit more, but was at a massive family do, so I was a bit peopled-out by the end of the day. I did the new Love Wins Yoga, which was a nice one.

I hate breathing through my mouth when I'm doing yoga, but my nose has been so blocked!

Sooverthemill · 13/06/2023 09:46

Sorry you've had a cold @ScottishBeth
i like boat but I guess it's not all for everyone

amother repeat of the hips and core beach flow. Loving it!

Yoga camp day 19 for me yesterday. In the office early today so no yoga.
Feel like yoga camp is taking me forever so might crack on a bit to get in done with a few double days of I can!

Sooverthemill · 16/06/2023 08:43

@Yogachick i love boat, shows how we all have different bodies

i did a flow on the beach today, shot in Nicaragua. Lovely

Self loathing & anxiety rising, I’ve not been on my mat,it’s all ‘too much’ with the other exercising I’ve been doing to build my strength& try & tone after so long incapacitated. But this is where neglecting my practice gets me,it’s my default ,instilled from childhood, even at 57. I fancied horizon lunge & prefer flow/vinyasa, wanted a 20 min practice as 30 was ‘ too long’,10 mins too short ,so instead of beginning a series & failing again when I don’t complete it,I plucked Move Day 26 from the vinyasa practices filter on the membership. 22 mins later I feel so much calmer & stretched. The practice was called Love, that’s still an ongoing challenge but I’ve taken the first step. Maybe tomorrow I’ll use the same 20 min vinyasa parameter. Is it wrong to do a similar practice each day? Am I failing if I do? I expect to fail,it’s what I do

Annipeck · 17/06/2023 16:57

Hi yoga people, have not ventured on here before, but thought this thread might get some traffic. I want to start yoga from scratch, and would like to try some at home before going to a class. I'm doing it to reconnect with my body, and particularly with my breathing. Is there any type of yoga anyone could particularly recommend that might be gentle and prioritise breathing? Particularly if there's someone online where I could get a taste and work towards attending classes in person. Thank you!

hoochycrone · 17/06/2023 17:11

Just found you 🥰
Thanks for the thread @Sooverthemill
Still keeping up with the gentle 10 min Kassandra. Seems a cop out but it's something, and I so enjoy it ☺️

hoochycrone · 17/06/2023 17:15

Welcome @Annipeck!
Lots on YouTube- Adriene/Kassandra etc try one and see.
It's great to get to a real life class if you can, it gave me confidence.

qwertylal · 18/06/2023 07:02

Inspired by this thread, have just completed first yoga practice in far too long. 20 mins morning stretch Kassandra.
Really hoping this is the beginning of a new habit. Thinking of re-doing a ywa series I enjoyed, or maybe trying 'home'

Sooverthemill · 18/06/2023 08:19

Welcome @qwertylal and @Annipeck . Adrienne has loads and had a series called Breath a coup of years back. Honestly her or Kassandra focus on breath ( as everyone must I’m sure) and the vinyasa flow ones named as such Will especially

@Yogachick we’ve all been there. It’s not a cop out and it’s what I have been doing most days recently as my head and heart aren’t great at the moment and I crave the security of knowing what’s coming. When I feel better I will move on. I will hold your hand x

Many thanks for the kind words and handhold @Sooverthemill .
Flailing to find a practice today so in the end went for Peaceful Warrior from this month’s calendar. A good’un,holds not too long, but not too fast either( because perversely today I didn’t want THAT) cow face pose in there, which helped my sore bum and hips from my strength training 2 days ago( surely it’s not normal still to be crazy sore?)even to the miniscual vague degree I could do it.

Sooverthemill · 18/06/2023 13:30

@Yogachick i don’t think that’s unusual really. Sounds like a nice practice. Me and DD had our covid boosters on Wednesday which is what I’m putting my not quite right feeling down to

Welcome @Annipeck and @qwertylal glad you have joined us.

@Yogachick that sounds so tough. I'm really sorry. And it isn't failing at all to do a similar practice day after day.

I've not posted in a little while. I've been keeping up with daily yoga but have struggled a bit emotionally the last few days. It's coming up to the anniversary of my nephew's death (it's been several years, but is still hard) and I'm always a bit fragile. Today I wrote in my journal, then did the Anchor in Hope practice, followed by a 10 minute meditation. It was just what I needed. Just need to remember to be kind to myself over the next few days.

Yogachick · 18/06/2023 19:59

@ScottishBeth I’m so sorry to hear about your nephew. Anniversaries are incredibly tough. Wrap yourself in love however you can to get through, 1 minute at a time. Virtual hugs coming your way xxx

Annipeck · 18/06/2023 20:22

Thanks, everyone. Will check out your suggestions.

Sooverthemill · 18/06/2023 20:54

@ScottishBeth I'm so sorry it's so tough isn't it? It's the anniversary of my mums death today and it's hot me quite hard this year xxxx
