Day 4 done! Having such a rough time with extra poorly DD and sleeping badly and I never ever want to get on the mat but forcing myself to do so and always feel better. Today I just concentrated on following her voice rather than anything else and managed to achieve almost all of it. Trying @UnaOfStormhold suggestion for getting foot through and I can now get it half way which is kind of an achievement I suppose!

Placemarking although just done day 25. I do a real life yoga once a week and have missed the odd day, but doing yoga 4 or 5 days a week is definitely better than just once or twice.

guinnessguzzler · 05/02/2022 10:38

Absolutely @Taswama I am hoping to find time to get back to a regular face to face class soon but if / when I do I'll definitely be keeping it up at home too.

Agree @Shannith I found Day 5 really nice today, some lovely stretches and twists. Obviously lulling us into a false sense of security before Day 6 Grin

@Sooverthemill That is an achievement! As is getting to the mat when you understandably don't feel up to it. When I was chronically sleep deprived with two under two (not the same thing, I know) I didn't do any exercise for years and I look back now and really wish I had as I can see how much it would have helped me if I could just have pushed myself to do it. It's not easy though! Just glad I'm finally doing it now. Setting myself the goal of doing yoga every day this year (and hopefully beyond!).

Shannith · 05/02/2022 10:49

@Sooverthemill that's a great achievement. Well done.

I was struggling with that (getting my leg through) and randomly saw someone explain how to do it on TikTok- the trick is to look forwards and think up and over with the leg rather than through if that makes sense. So look forward, lift your hips. The looking forward really helps - it must lengthen a muscle somewhere

Shannith · 05/02/2022 10:52

Adrienne mentions her foundations of yoga series quite a lot in the ones I do regularly. I keep meaning to look it up if it's free. I'm sure if does loads of tips on how to do the moving legs up stuff. I'll have a dig.

Rummikub · 05/02/2022 12:11

Woo hoo! Day 29 done! I’ve never made it to the end before.

From reading others comments I’m going to miss day 30 and go straight into day 1 tomorrow.

It’ll be interesting to see how it feels.

mumsiedarlingrevolta · 05/02/2022 12:34

@guinnessguzzler @Shannith

Day 5 absolute bliss but def the calm before the storm...

Day 6 was my nemesis first time around

Sooverthemill · 05/02/2022 13:45

@Shannith thanks will try that and yes the foundations of yoga are on YouTube here they start from 2012 with a young, perky and very much less professional ( but joyful) Adrienne . I love to do them, she's so happy

Sooverthemill · 05/02/2022 13:47

And thanks all, DD has several chronic illnesses and she's just in a bad phase at present x

Day 5. Knees creaked as I went down for the squat(I will never get my heels down). Enjoyed it and my feeling of zen was only marginally spoiled when I spilt gravy on my new ywa move sweatshirt! Well done everyone for keeping plugging away 😊

Shinyandnew2022 · 05/02/2022 18:53

Did day 4 yesterday and day 5 this morning . Really enjoyed both .
Todays was I think the one that made me notice where I am getting stronger / improving .
What I am finding though is that now I can hold myself up in plank more easily my wrists are getting sore. Hope that will lessen over time .

The advice from @UnaOfStormhold and echoed by @Shannith was a bit of a revelation and I am not lugging my legs into position as I move into lunges suddenly - very exciting progress ! I do still need to adjust a bit but on my right side especially it pretty much works. Thanks for the advice .

Well done for keeping on showing up everyone this thread is keeping me so motivated .

Feawen · 05/02/2022 18:58

Cungryhow Grin

I was craving a challenge today, so swapped day 5 for day 6 and tackled the core work. I’m having real problems trying to fit a saddle to dhorse at the moment, and my thoughts are getting stuck on that problem, turning it over and over without getting anywhere. I wanted a session that would claim all my attention and this certainly did.

Hope things ease for you and DD soon, Sooverthemill.

UnaOfStormhold · 05/02/2022 22:02

I got a bit out of step yesterday by playing the day 9 video instead of day 4, so went back to do day 4 today. (This does mean I won't end up doing day 6 on the same day as a 10 mile run which is probably all to the good.) I do like the arm flow, very relaxing. It was a bit of a battle to get on the mat last night but very proud of myself for making it.

Excellent news on the non-dragging legs @Shinyandnew2022 and @Sooverthemill .

Sooverthemill · 06/02/2022 09:05

Day 5 done. I noticed today that Adrienne doesn't always repeat exactly for the second side what she does on the first side. So today in lizard for the RHS we were asked to lower our knee three times. Not on the LHS!

I'm running slightly behind and did day 3 yesterday. Also tried the trick for getting my leg through to a lunge and almost got there for the first time. So glad I've been following this thread for the tips from more experienced people. Thank you!

Rummikub · 06/02/2022 12:55

Day 30
When she said she was removing her microphone I said no, nope
Too much chsnge and went back to day 1.
Day 1 was actually hard!
I tried to push myself a little further than first time.

cungryhow · 06/02/2022 17:28

Boiler on the blink, day 6 warmed me up!

guinnessguzzler · 06/02/2022 17:44

Yep, feel the heat! Grin Think I managed more than last time.

Feawen · 06/02/2022 18:24

Rewound to day 5 today! Frustratingly, I couldn’t find an angle in pigeon that worked for my (rather tight) hips and my injured ankle, so swapped to the reclined version.

Dhorse has also done some yoga today - carrot stretches and in-hand lateral work for him.

tootyfruitypickle · 06/02/2022 19:28

I think I'm finding it harder as I'm not letting myself take breaks this time around. At least I hope that's it. Today was tough!!

Shinyandnew2022 · 06/02/2022 19:28

Day 6 done- think I mist have blanked it out of my memory from last time as this is not my forte at all.

frazzled101 · 06/02/2022 19:53

Day 7 done and it was a nice short session, and I was able to do quite a bit of it.

I've watched the foundation video on how to go from downward dog to lunge but still not even close!

I convinced myself Adriene must be ridiculously tall, no, she's 5ft 6".

UnaOfStormhold · 06/02/2022 20:22

Day 5 done, tired and a bit sore after a hard 10 mile run so very glad not to be doing day 6 due to my earlier misscheduling. Took the easy options and added in a few stretches that my tired legs were craving.

Sooverthemill · 07/02/2022 09:23

Day 6 but OMG it was tough. I took a break at one point as I simply cannot bear the pain of putting weight all on one shoulder. I try and I hope it will build up but ouch

guinnessguzzler · 07/02/2022 09:48

Yes, it was a toughie. Looking forward to a nice short one today.

My little one had me doing PE with Joe yesterday and I was pleasantly surprised with how well I managed. He had us holding a squat while doing punches at one point and kept going on about how hard it was to hold the squat for that long and I was like HaloHaloHalo I've got this Grin
