Day 2 done. This one has a nice amount of core work for me - enough that I feel it without getting overwhelmed. Anyone else find fore-arm plank harder than standard plank?

On mat recommendations, I’d really like a mat with a grid pattern or stripes, so I can check I’m evenly aligned. Any recommendations?

UnaOfStormhold · 02/02/2022 15:10

I definitely find forearm plank harder! Enjoyed day 1 yesterday, though there was a lot more explanation than I remembered!

CeeCeeDeeBee · 02/02/2022 17:27

So far I'm finding it easier than in January so I must be a bit stronger/less bloated with Christmas overindulgence 😂

cungryhow · 02/02/2022 19:15

Another yes to finding forearm plank harder! Wasn’t looking forward to day 2 as the fronts of my thighs were killing after the first run in a while for me on Tuesday. Then my pony was a handful on our ride this morning and jogged all the way home. I managed the yoga ok and the 30 minutes went quickly but am going up and down the stairs very gingerly!

Softpebbles · 02/02/2022 19:25

@Sooverthemill thanks for the new thread!
I
Was a few days behind you all starting and I have just completed day 28. To be honest it was lovely but I find those practices a bit boring - that attitude isn’t really within the spirit of yoga 🙈

I will do day 29 tomorrow and then knowing that day 30 is unguided I may start MOVE again.

I’ve really enjoyed it. I was tempted to pay for the app but for me having too much choice is a nightmare. I like the fact the days are numbered and you just work through it. I would probably pay for the app if it was full of progressive 30 day challenges like this.

Hi 👋🏻 @Shannith!

teesguy · 02/02/2022 19:53

Day 30 finished today! Really enjoyed being back on my mat and the difference that doing 20-30 mins per day has made.

Jumbojem · 02/02/2022 20:50

Page 3 and 2nd Feb...and I've done no yoga so far! Aiming to get up early tomorrow and will try Move day 1 before work.
Thanks for all the mat recs, there seems to be a huge variety in price but will check out the yogi bare one as that seemed popular.

guinnessguzzler · 02/02/2022 20:55

Very late to it today, just about to do Day 2.

I have signed up to the weekly emails too. Definitely like the structure of a 30 day programme with the option for top ups and looking forward to what the weekly email brings.

I continue to be impressed by everyone juggling this with so many things, but am starting to get a bit more active on top of this too. Can absolutely feel the benefit.

Shinyandnew2022 · 02/02/2022 21:13

Day 2 (32!) done today. Again found it quite hard - can't remember whether I would have managed it all last time.
My DD wandered past at one point and told me I looked a lot better now - not sure what she was basing that on but will take any compliments I can get

T shirts arrived and I really like them both but am possibly in between sizes so that's a little annoying as I may need to order a size down.

Thanks @Sooverthemill I thought someone had mentioned subscribing- I may look at that after this next Move series is done.

angerelle · 02/02/2022 23:03

I've just done February Day 2 - had a stressful evening trying to prep two meals at once and was grumpily thinking "I deserve a glass of wine", but after finally doing some yoga, I've found I don't need the wine now!

Shannith · 03/02/2022 08:55

Oh hi @Softpebbles Smile

I just remembered this so have just done day 3.

I do 1 or 2 of her videos everyday - but I tend to rotate through 5-6 that I've done loads of times so this doing a new one each day - is new for me.

First impressions are that it was a bit disjointed in that a lot of the ones I do are slower (but longer) and have more focus on remembering to breathe/get the shapes right. But that because when I first started yoga a couple of years ago I found it so so hard that I just approximated shapes and I think possibly did more harm than good. E.g. down dog - I was doing it wrong and not getting the benefit.

I like doing the same one for say a month, so I can really see how much I improve from wtf woman that's not possible to oh, I can sort of do it now.

But I'll keep going as it's interesting to learn new bits.

If I had to recommend two that totally changed yoga for me it's her text next and yoga for the feet videos. Serous my - who knew! Do each every day for a week and suddenly everything become comes a million easier! Absolute game changers. For this stiff 46 year old with a smashed collarbone and dodgy hips anyway.

Softpebbles · 03/02/2022 09:17

I will look those videos up @Shannith

Sooverthemill · 03/02/2022 09:40

@Shannith I also tend to do the same few videos over and over ( I often do all her outdoor ones for a week or so) and get so I really crack them but for me it feels comfortable doing that and the 30 day challenge one's really do challenge me! I do the hip and the shoulder ones regularly as extras too plus yoga for the wrists as I have arthritis. I'm much older than you and know that if I have to continue to care for DD into my 70s I have to stay flexible which was my original motivation

Day 2 today! Took it as slowly as Adrienne did, tried not to power in through and loved it. It was hard but maybe not as hard as first time. I do not find forearm plank hard. No idea why. Other moves eg take left foot through from DWD is nigh on impossible mind!

Shannith · 03/02/2022 11:13

@Softpebbles this is the neck one

And the feet one

I'm sure normal people will be easy peasy but man they hurt when I first did them. And the next 1 times! I cursed the lovely Adrienne.

@Sooverthemill my motivation was recovery from serous illness and to be able to ride without falling off so much. Not as noble as yours but I think like you I've come to enjoy yoga for itself as well as my original plan.

Shannith · 03/02/2022 11:14

I obviously need to do some yoga for the fingers to correct my fat fingers stabbing at my phone.

Sooverthemill · 03/02/2022 12:52

@Shannith when DD became ill I was recovering from cancer treatment and was a total physical wreck! So yoga and sensible eating was essential as I could not do ‘exercise’ at all, couldn’t even walk due 15 minutes. But YWA seriously helped x

guinnessguzzler · 03/02/2022 13:02

I tried the yoga for feet one recently and loved it. My feet were a bit sore a d I thought, 'I'll just see if there's any targeted yoga to help'. Of course there is, there seems to be something for pretty much any situation, that's one thing I really love.

@angerelle Good for you!

Just about to do Day 3. I have found the first two still hard but also that I've done more of them and held poses for longer. So, I think as you improve it stays hard if you continue to push yourself, if that makes sense? Is that the case when you have been practicing daily / regularly for several years too, I wonder? @Sooverthemill @Shannith

Sooverthemill · 03/02/2022 15:02

@guinnessguzzler in my case if you continue with daily practice I think certain poses get 'easier' but if you hold them for longer or try an adjustment ( like really pulling shoulder blades apart in plank) they are still challenging.

Rummikub · 03/02/2022 15:12

Just did day 27.
Put more effort in instead of saying that’s too hard. I was breathless by the end!

I just cannot do downward dog for more than 30 seconds- really hurts my wrists.

I’m going to check out that feet yoga video. I have arthritis in my feet and hands.

Loving this thread x

namechange5575 · 03/02/2022 15:43

I did Day 1 yesterday - I thought it was just the 5 minute 'setting intention' one, was a bit of a shock to do the full one! And it was harder than I thought it would be, given I'd done it daily for a month. But my planks were strongStar

mumsiedarlingrevolta · 03/02/2022 16:37

Day 3 done-

I am really really sore-especially the fronts of my thighs.
Struggled to walk up the stairs this morning.

I am making a huge effort not to just re-do Move but really really push myself and I can feel it!!

Anyone else sore?

tootyfruitypickle · 03/02/2022 16:58

Did day 3 and have noticed I can do the warriors properly this time around and they don't kill me! I also found the side planks actually quite enjoyable this time !

Doubt very much I'll make any progress on crow when that comes around again though! Maybe by December ..!!

I hear you. It's been one of the best things I've ever done.

Shannith · 03/02/2022 17:38

@guinnessguzzler that's what I found - the longer I do it the more I try if that makes sense. So it never gets easy as such because I'm always still trying to do the poses better/longer/more correctly.

So to use down dog as an example. I was more like a... well I don't even know... in a vague triangle shape with my heels nowhere near the floor.

As times gone on I can do that now but I am more aware of getting my arms right, everything looser and getting my hips up and and feet level (my dodgy left one was pointing out). I try to do correctly and safely. So it still "hurts" in that I can feel a stretch just like I did when I started, I just look a bit more like her when I'm doing it and less like a sweating, shaking contortion Grin

Shannith · 03/02/2022 17:43

I'm massively impressed with how much progress everyone is making in a month!

I was coming from and extremely low base so I'm just delighted I can do things like climb over stiles nowadays. And that's what I have come to love about yoga with Adrienne- it's just me and my slow progress, but progress nonetheless. I'm never going to win a yoga completion, indeed I'd probably make a fool of myself and fall over in a yoga class but Adrienne and Benji don't care.

I couldn't even stay in corpse pose for a very long time - too painful. I was like how is this supposed to be restful. My knees and back hurt
