Yes I agree
My small win is that I can get into my slippers without feeling it’s a strain
And the twinge in my leg has stopped and it only took two weeks after having it for a year!

2fallsfromSSA · 03/02/2022 18:57

Hello everyone. I got a bit behind. Just did day 30 but am not very good at self guided practice. I wonder if it will be better when I got brought it all again!

2fallsfromSSA · 03/02/2022 19:02

No idea what that was meant to say. I'm wondering if it will be better at the end of this cycle of move.

I'm looking forward to starting again.

changeling86 · 03/02/2022 19:06

@tootyfruitypickle

Did day 3 and have noticed I can do the warriors properly this time around and they don't kill me! I also found the side planks actually quite enjoyable this time !

Doubt very much I'll make any progress on crow when that comes around again though! Maybe by December ..!!

Fucking crow pose Grin

I've never not folded at the elbows in a heap, or wobbled straight over onto my face. I'm "giving myself grace to fall" as she says. Grin

frazzled101 · 03/02/2022 19:42

OMG! I'm a day ahead so just did day 4, this is my first time.

It was so fast I felt completely out of my depth.

Are there actually people who can go from downward dog and sweep one leg forward into a lunge???

cungryhow · 03/02/2022 19:44

Fucking crow Grin. That oh so brief moment of flight is amazing! Small win for me this time was finding I had plenty to do in the day 30 DIY practice so something has sunk in! Aim for this year will be to try try and move with grace and ease and less like an arthritic dachshund!

I can’t. I drag m leg forward with my hand But I noticed today that it was a little easier. This is why I like this in the privacy of my home!
namechange5575 · 03/02/2022 20:16

@mumsiedarlingrevolta I'm up to day 2 and yes, fronts of my legs, thighs, near my knees are sore. I wasn't expecting that. I did go for a run yesterday after day 1, first run in 2 weeks, so that probably didn't help, but I struggled with the quads pain in various lunges today. I was trying to take my (heavy) body weight on my hands and arms instead.

@tootyfruitypickle this is similar to my day 3 experience - I felt so much more stable in warrior and I managed the side planks whereas last time I think I recall just laughing at that bit . My wrists hurt now which I wonder if is caused my Holding myself up on one hand ? Anyway I really enjoyed today and am feeling inspired by everyone's experiences ! I feel so much less creaky it's incredible it makes me feel 'lighter ' somehow .

I am nervous for tomorrow now ! But I am another one who has to drag my legs forward - it's got better since the start but I am sure I will always be dragging my leg forward!
Feawen · 03/02/2022 21:14

Enjoyed today’s video, though my ankle complained a bit about the warrior poses. It’s not so keen on being back foot.

I will definitely try some yoga for the feet - looking forward to that!

Nice to hear from another rider, Shannith. I also originally started yoga to help my riding. I enjoy yoga for itself now, too, but it definitely helps my seat, balance and straightness in the saddle as well.

Crow and I don’t get along.

cungryhow · 03/02/2022 21:30

Another rider here too! Started yoga after one too many falls leaving me with nerve damage to my hip and back pain. Tried Pilates but didn’t get on with that so well, seemed a bit prescriptive so found a yoga class which got me hooked as I was amazed how much better I felt afterwards. One class a week not enough so that was where Adriene came in. Love the flexibility of being able to throw the mat out and pick a practice from so many themes and lengths.

UnaOfStormhold · 03/02/2022 22:00

I can bring my leg into lunge - there's a definite knack to it rather than necessarily needing to be super flexible. I did it a bit unexpectedly in the middle of Home after a few of those "bring your knee through to touch your elbow" exercises - crucially this got me to shift my body weight really forward which meant my hips were forward and my knee didn't have so far to go. My other tip is to lift up on the fingertips on the side you need to fit the knee into (if you watch you'll see Adriene does this too) which just gives the crucial bit of room I need.

Shannith · 03/02/2022 22:17

Hurrah for riders doing yoga. It's made me so much more aware of straightness (or lack of) and has definitely helped with balance. And loads of no stirrups. Which I can now do with almost ease ish.

My mare is stiffer on the left rein... or is she? I've realised it's just as much me as her.

Adrienne has actually got a yoga for equestrians. I started doing this a few years ago and I could do about 30% of it. I spent most of it going are you serious? But I did it last week and I can do it all now.

"If you are feeling in a more restorative mood just hang out with your legs in be air" ha ha ha you lunatic I thought. Now I can. I mean I don't feel particularly restorative but I can do it without crying.

Jumbojem · 03/02/2022 22:38

I've really lost momentum! I must get back on it otherwise I feel ill go back to only doing yoga when I'm injured from running (maybe do yoga so I won't pick up so many running injuries?!).
Did Move Day 1 today. Find out hard to believe we did hovering table top and so many planks on first day!
Was it as early as day 4 for crow? Wow, Move really did hit the ground running!

Shannith · 04/02/2022 08:12

Day 4 done - I've realised I deliberately pick quite slow ones for my normal daily practice (and I do the same ones so I know what coming and don't panic/rush) so this felt fast at first but it was good.

I never remembered to breathe when I first started so it was good to be reminded how much easier and more effective it is when I breathe properly.

changewwible · 04/02/2022 09:05

So anyone who pays for FWFG, is it worth it? Would you recommend it?

Are the other videos all yoga?

cungryhow · 04/02/2022 09:30

I’ll have a look at the equestrian on ShannithSmile thank you. The breathing is another small win when you find you are in sync with Adriene and not huffing and puffing!

Sooverthemill · 04/02/2022 09:40

@changewwible I had a subscription for years and year. It was worth it definitely. I stopped to use the money on other things as I reckoned she had enough other supporters now! Try a weeks free trial to test it out. There are sessions she does exclusively for members, guest yogis ( which I hated actually I only wanted Adrienne) and vlogs. I think it's worth it when you are new and when I was a member it was only £7.99 so far less than a class

Done day 3. Was feeling very bad as I overslept and I feel unwell but it was lovely to do the stretches and really finesse them this time. If we didn't have this thread I would have done a quick 19 minute one so I'm pleased we have the discipline!

Grin @Sooverthemill

Just done Day 4. Had a surprise when both heels actually briefly hit the mat in down dog! Also found the aeroplane arms with forward fold was just what my back needed so that was nice!

Rummikub · 04/02/2022 12:51

Just done day 28 tlc. She was very chatty in this. Looking forward to starting again.

Feawen · 04/02/2022 13:14

I’ll find and bookmark the equestrian one, thanks Smile

I loved day 4. Flow sessions do give me that sense of focus and…well…flow that I sometimes get when I’m really engrossed in my work or in a particular training session with my horse.

The only thing I didn’t get on with is holding my neck and shoulders up of the mat at the end - no matter how much I engage my core, my neck gets painful. I did most of that part with my head and shoulders lowered, as I’d still felt I was getting a reasonable legs and core workout.

Sooverthemill, glad you made it. Reading your posts really reminds me I have no excuse not to show up.

Guinnessguzzler, me too, just starting to get my heels to touch the floor in down dog towards the end of the practice. The transition from down dog to lunge is also getting easier - I still have to adjust my front foot forward, but only by a couple of inches rather than a foot Grin

Softpebbles · 04/02/2022 20:06

Redid day 1 again.

Loving that I’ve started again!

Shannith · 05/02/2022 08:18

Just done day 5. Lovely - my kind of yoga and perfect for my creaky lower back and hips.

I was really hoping it wouldn't be a fast tough one as I was not in the mood and it was perfect.
