Day 17 here too and discovered I can do and like pigeon which surprised me as the clamshells hurt my right hip (impingement) so I was quite limited with them.

Sooverthemill · 17/02/2022 08:30

@mumsiedarlingrevolta I just did day 16 and also did side plank ( with kickstand) which I wasn't able to do previously ( shoulder injuries). Very happy "I am strong"

OP posts:
Shannith · 17/02/2022 08:41

Loving seeing how everyone is getting on

@mumsiedarlingrevolta I managed the side planks too - I was so proud. Proud of you too.

Day 16 revealed again that I have some way to go before I can reliably balance on my right leg (which is interesting as (riders will understand) it's my stronger leg and I find lateral movements easier when using that side but it's the one I fall into when jumping/light seat. If I'm going to lose a stirrup, it's always that one.

I am finding everything a touch easier but @Pleasenomoreglitter I totally understand about the harder when I do it "properly". Having to follow sessions that I've never done before is making me think even more am I doing this "right"? And being in a tiny way accountable on this thread is making me make the effort to really concentrate on alignment - or my strong side will get stronger and my weak side will not.

I can't remember which session it was when she talked about if you concentrate the flow (!) that's the area that you will work - I found that helpful - so I try to do that as I'm trying to fix the wonkier bits of me.

In my head if I can get straight and strong the slightly stiff cob will attempt true inside bend. She loves her horse yoga (carrot stretches) Smile

guinnessguzzler · 17/02/2022 10:07

Aah, Day 17 Snuggle. So lovely. Nearly fell asleep and my new Fitbit tells me my pulse got down to 65 which is quite low for me. Didn't sleep well last night but feeling refreshed now.

mumsiedarlingrevolta · 17/02/2022 10:48

@Sooverthemill @Shannith @Shinyandnew2022 thanks so much-it is so satisfying when you can come away feeling so good after being on the mat-even though I did wiggle and fall on bow I did get right back up-

I def find the camaraderie and support on here so motivational-sometimes I actually think I am better off than I would be in a FTF class as sometimes I have been known to shout things in a very un-yoga way like "are you bloody kidding me?"

Love hearing everyone's successes and it was def the right thing for me to re-do so I can see clearly that I am making progress even though I don't always see it!!!

Rummikub · 17/02/2022 14:42

^^ this is me too. I’ve done f2f classes before but this feels better. I keep thinking I’d hate to be modifying in a class as much as I do. This way I don’t feel shame only encouragement, support and a part of something.

Sooverthemill · 17/02/2022 18:06

I'm so pleased this thread has helped others like me to remain motivated. It definitely helps me.

@Rummikub am hoping it means you are swearing occasionally as well... Wink

I agree it is the best of both worlds-sometimes I rewind and try again if I want to and it gives such freedom to do at home combined with support and encouragement here!!!

cungryhow · 17/02/2022 19:44

Keeps me accountable too! My hygienist told me if I flossed for 30 days it would become a habit and it did and it’s worked for yoga too!

I do miss a face to face class as I used to enjoy seeing the differences between everyone. Everyone was good at something we were a happy, supportive little group. Adriene has been such a godsend though, now I’ve been doing it a few years I love that you get better even if you don’t think you are making good or quick progress.

BestIsWest · 17/02/2022 20:42

I found day 18 quite tough though I liked the sideways twists. Could feel my shoulders cracking and creaking.

UnaOfStormhold · 17/02/2022 21:19

I did a few classes on holiday last summer and the teacher kept thinking I hadn't understood the move rather than just that I'd decided to vary it. I was trying not to go too far off piste but some things just work better for me, e.g. I always do baby cobra rather than cobra as I have a sensitive lower back.

Day 12 today, my crow managed a few seconds of flight which was very exciting! We're away on holiday on Saturday so I'm not sure whether I'll be able to fit in my yoga but I firmly intend to keep coming back.

Rummikub · 17/02/2022 23:48

@mumsiedarlingrevolta

I swear a lot and collapse laughing at some of the poses with a wtf?!

Sooverthemill · 18/02/2022 09:02

Day 17. Oh I love pigeon

OP posts:
Shannith · 18/02/2022 12:46

Day 18 and it was good - I'm doing loads of poses I've never done before.

I love that my progress is so incremental - it's not bam, suddenly I can do everything but I suddenly realise that I've gone into high lunge without my trademark wobble.

It's been so good to vary up my practice - there's a real method to her sequence- it's almost like she knows what she's doing Smile

I've even had a few (only a few) moments when I feel like a real yoga person rather than an imposter!

UnaOfStormhold · 18/02/2022 15:28

Day 13 and 14 done together, really happy with the way my crow is coming together!

guinnessguzzler · 18/02/2022 15:31

I find the support and accountability here really helpful too.

Yes, I enjoyed Day 18 today and am noticing more improvements, both physically and mentally. Feeling chilled now.

guinnessguzzler · 18/02/2022 15:33

Can you hold it for long, @UnaOfStormhold? I can do a few breaths now, just about.

Rummikub · 18/02/2022 16:40

Completed day 8. A nice session.

Yes it’s the incremental improvements that’s lovely and motivating

Sooverthemill · 19/02/2022 11:11

@Shannith yes it’s the teeny tiny changes that I’m Noticing , though I did wobble today ( day 18). Loved it again as ever

OP posts:
Shannith · 19/02/2022 13:00

I think I’m at have got ahead of myself by doing day 20 today - will do 19 later if I get a chance.

It was nice and just what I needed - stiffness banished!

Rummikub · 19/02/2022 13:07

Day 9 done
Part of me thought I’ll leave it but then remembered this thread!

mumsiedarlingrevolta · 19/02/2022 16:32

well I have gone from a euphoric day 17 to being struck down by nurovirus late that night.

Funnily enough as I am starting to feel better the thing I am looking forward to is feeling well enough to get back on the mat.

Maybe a gentle one tomorrow...

BestIsWest · 19/02/2022 20:22

Day 20 done and a lovely glow now. I’m convinced doing them in the evening helps me sleep better too.

timetochangeusername · 19/02/2022 21:08

Day 19 done and I'm definitely noticing how much stronger I am.

Sooverthemill · 20/02/2022 10:41

@mumsiedarlingrevolta don’t rush it
Day 19 after an evening out yesterday and my first 3 course meal in 2plus years. Felt a bit full still but not too bad. Such a great way to start the day
