IDareSay · 05/09/2025 11:51

These threads are currently being used to follow the case that is taking place at Westminster Magistrate's Court over the 4th and 5th September, but will also be following the subsequent fallout of Graham's arrest at Heathrow on his return to the UK for this court case earlier this week.

He is currently on trial for alleged harassment of a trans identified male and criminal damage to the man's phone. The charges stem from a series of events in October 2024 at Battle of Ideas.

Free Speech Union are running a fundraiser to support a claim against the Met in reference to the Heathrow arrest. Just search FSU and Graham Linehan fundraiser and it should be easy to find. Currently reached 93% of its target.

Most of the mainstream media have reported on the case, but none have covered it as well as Nick Wallis. Follow him on X for live posting from the court.

I think there will have to be a wide ranging public enquiry into this all one day.

People just need to stop bloody engaging with these lunatics.

I think the police need to start engaging with these lunatics.

These men seek out the women and few men like GL they are abusing online and in person.

I feel like it's the same as how we deal with them here. Sometimes it's best to get the metephorical unicorn with the sign out and ignore the interrupteron, sometimes there has to be a counter misinformation or lies with facts and the truth, and sometimes it's hard not to have a bit of a laugh at the ridiculousness.

WinterTrees · 06/09/2025 18:29

I'm really hoping Nick Wallis is putting on his hazmat suit and preparing to go as far down this rabbit hole as he can.

The police are incapable of exposing what's down there because they're too caught up in it. How did we get to be a society where investigative journalists are our only recourse to justice?

I strongly suspect some of them walk amongst us here tbh.

Yep I suspect it too. I'm surer and surer each day that ChrisAdamsApple is one of those tra activists within that menacing group.

Yes, sometimes I have to use CH for a due diligence check, and it's useful but I wouldn't use it to verify someone's identity details.

It's not that difficult in the UK to fake (details of) your identity. Sometimes you get a high profile case like the late Howard Marks with his dozens of identities and passports to back them up, and the authorities close a loophole, but if you've got one official records saying false thing about you, you can use that to get two, three, four official records also saying false thing about you.

I also suspect "Sophia Brooks" is not really 18, but "SB" seems to have picked up some skills at seeding false biographical details, and nobody has been interested to delve deeper until now.

Edited

The Brooks TwiX account mentioned in Nick Wallis’s tweets has Brooks claiming in Sept 2024 that he’s 20 and has a passport and DL in the ‘Sophia’ name. That’s the account he used to troll the ‘Thames pilgrim’ account and others.

But I doubt Brooks tells the truth much, claiming a while ago that he applied to the City of London GS Sixth Form in 2023/4.

All part of the obfuscation.

TBF journalists have always held power to account. They are part of the balance of power in a democracy. We just don't see it in action this way very often.

The courts, the media and parliament all work together in this way.

This is why free speech is important.

Many years ago I had a small role in unmasking Johann Hari's online antics. He had load of identities with bits of biography aimed at throwing you off course. But he wasn't quite as clever as he thought.

That actually got a bit freaky at times. I remember once going through the back end of Wikipedia looking for his alter egos and finding a furious argument between three editors and they were all Hari. He wasn't just dishonest, I honestly think he had serious mental issues going on.

I'm sure there are plenty of sleuths on the trail of "Sophia Brooks" and more will come out anon.

The good thing is that there is now an appetite for this sort of investigation. Previously, if Nick Wallis had attempted to go down the rabbit hole/write an article, no editor would have touched it for fear of the blue haired mob and the central trans cabal.

So much sunshine has been shed, that it is now safe to shed some more.

The Heathrow farce has likely whetted the appetite of the press - their role as being a key part of what makes us absolutely nothing like North Korea has been reinforced.

They’re never going to stop until the police start behaving like police and not their personal minders.

Women cannot stop protesting and stay silent, they just have to do as much as they can to stay safe whilst doing it.

Tarquin allegedly muttered 'knives knives knives' within earshot of a court employee to a woman at court on Friday.

They are untouchable and they know it.

If you don't mind, would you let me know the story? I had no idea about any of this - I just remember him as a columnist(?) for the Independent and then hearing he'd gone to America.

People just need to stop bloody engaging with these lunatics.

If only it were that simple.

Look up Marion Millar who committed the terrible act of tweeting a picture of a ribbon.

This was enough for her to spend a bank holiday weekend being interviewed under caution away from her autistic children and then dragged through the courts at vast personal expense, both financial and emotional.

I wonder how she is doing. I always thought this whole thing was madness but that was the case - and the excellent threads here - that opened my eyes to just how far this had gone.

Caroline Farrow has posted that he's claimed to be airline pilot and about be a med student in the past two months and thought she saw that he was referred to as studying computer science in court (Nick Wallis tweets don't appear to confirm this last point though, I checked).

There's also the police cadet thing too. And comments about him training to be a lawyer.

Again Caroline is another GC who hasn't always had much respect from other GCs (again because she rises to the bait) so I'm cautious with her, but at this point we'd be unwise to dismiss this comment too.

Replies to this tweet included a gif from Catch Me If You Can the film loosely based on the life of con artist turned security consultant Frank Abagnale Jr., who claims that prior to his 19th birthday, he successfully performed defrauded worth millions of dollars by posing as a Pan American pilot, a Georgia doctor, and a Louisiana parish prosecutor. (Worth pointing out that the truth in this autobiography is heavily disputed in its own right).

The parallel the gif draws is an interesting one to ponder over.

If you don't mind, would you let me know the story? I had no idea about any of this - I just remember him as a columnist(?) for the Independent and then hearing he'd gone to America.

Oh, it was mad stuff. The very condensed version: He was first fingered for plagiarising some quotes in his high profile interviews. Then people started digging into his feature writing and finding parts that looked suspiciously like he'd invented them from whole cloth.

And then it turned out he'd been sitting up all night, no doubt highly stimulated, editing Wikipedia under a huge variety of sockpuppet identities, using it to attack people he didn't like and promote his friends. It convulsed Wiki for months until the big bosses there decided to draw a line, sweep it under the carpet and pretend their totally rigorous new rules would prevent anyone ever gaming the system again.

Also there was a weird episode where one of Hari's sockpuppet emails was linked to a piece of very dodgy creative writing, and by dodgy I mean gay racist underage incest porn.

The Independent suspended him and then quietly shuffled him out. He's still out there writing, and puts out a book every couple of years (he had a lot of friends in media, and I suspect they got him a sweetheart publishing deal) but I don't think any newspaper will ever employ him again.

The Indy took advantage of Hari's departure to give columns to two of his proteges, Owen Jones and Laurie Penny.

The post says its from earlier this year.

Thats incorrect.

It was EDITED in the last year for some reason.

The original Review MUST date back two years because of the different time staff for the 'Response from the owner' which says 2 years ago.

2 years ago, could mean any time from 2 - 3 years from what I've seen in the past. That would date the original review back to at least September 2023 but it could be as early as September 2022 I think.

The vandalism of El Portico was in June 2022. I think the dinner with JKR and Susanne Moore was around April 2022.

The review is editted to say that the owner tried to get the review binned, but clearly Google allowed it to stand in the end.

Its the strangest of coincidences however you cut it.

Keep seeing these strange coincidences.

Some might call observation of these 'conspiracy theories'.

Others might be a bit more astitute.

This happened in July 2023. I have a screenshot from Twitter-as-was dated July 7th, just a couple of days before the Auckland incident.

Absolutely.

If Lyndsey decides to report more people to the police, it'll be a very brave or stupid officer that sends the police individuals round to investigate at this point.

I'm not saying it won't happen, but if they are paying attention to the news and don't want to be hauled up and investigated themselves, they'd be fairly stupid to not do some actual police work first...

There's no way I can keep up with these threads at the moment but has there been any discussion whether Linehan was in the UK or the US on the days he made the tweets, 19 and 20 April of this year?

He moved to Arizona 'about six months ago' according to what I've read today if ircc.

nauticant · 06/09/2025 19:42

That's why I asked. If he was outside of the jurisdiction of the UK on the days he made the tweets that wouldn't necessarily work as a defence but I've been catching up on how this is going down in the US, where it's really caught fire, and in terms of the optics that would make things even more intense.

Meanwhile, the UK government is otherwise occupied.

I've seen that, but I think the date she was visited by police means it was all still blowing up AND this case is further blowing up the story. I don't think picking on another former police officer at this particular point was the smartest move either...
