These threads are currently being used to follow the case that is taking place at Westminster Magistrate's Court over the 4th and 5th September, but will also be following the subsequent fallout of Graham's arrest at Heathrow on his return to the UK for this court case earlier this week.

He is currently on trial for alleged harassment of a trans identified male and criminal damage to the man's phone. The charges stem from a series of events in October 2024 at Battle of Ideas.

Free Speech Union are running a fundraiser to support a claim against the Met in reference to the Heathrow arrest. Just search FSU and Graham Linehan fundraiser and it should be easy to find. Currently reached 93% of its target.

Most of the mainstream media have reported on the case, but none have covered it as well as Nick Wallis. Follow him on X for live posting from the court.

If I was Graham, I'd take that, fairly happily, to be honest.

As he said, he doesn't give a flying fuck about chucking the phone.

And it means everything he said cannot be construed as illegal. Happy days.

I do hope, though, that this holding phones in peoples faces or getting so close to them that if they even try to move out the way and they bang you, and therefore they are in the wrong, will be addressed.

It's definitely harassment. Pretending that 'I'm not touching you' like a bloody three-year-old in the back of the car, is such a common tactic by TRAs to harass women it needs to stop.

Appalonia · 05/09/2025 12:14

I was also thinking, after yesterday's testimony that that verdict was the most likely outcome.

MyrtleLion · 05/09/2025 12:14

They have to prove the damage was done that day. There is considerable scope for reasonable doubt either no time stamped image and a four year old phone.

Is that right? It has to have been damaged? It's not just the chucking of it?

Because, in that case, it looks like absolute bollocks.

MyrtleLion · 05/09/2025 12:16

Also the phone had a protective cover on it.

So does mine and I drop it a lot. Not even a scratch on it.

One good thing is that these days there's a lot less scope for harrassing women or GCs when they gather, because we won't wheesht any more.

Yes. That charge is "criminal damage".

Same.

it's almost impossible to scratch a phone unless you scrape it along the floor.

Covers, screen protectors, it's all covered! People drop them all the bloody time, with absolutely no issue

There has to be tangible proof of alteration in a way that impairs its value.

Presumably once that is proved, there then has to be proof that it was as a result of GL’s actions.

Was the phone damaged?
did it impair the value of the phone?
was it caused by GL’s actions?

Absolutely agree with this. It's intimidating and is intended to be.

I would approve of a FAFO approach to dealing with it. 🤷
