NHS Fife tries to silence nurse - Sandie Peggie vs NHS Fife Health Board and Dr Beth Upton - thread #38

Sandie Peggie, a nurse at Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy (VH), has brought claims in the employment tribunal against her employer; Fife Health Board (the Board) and another employee, Dr B Upton. Ms Peggie’s claims are of sexual harassment, harassment related to a protected belief, indirect discrimination and victimisation. Dr Upton claims to be a transwoman, that is observed as male at birth but asserting a female gender identity.

The Employment Tribunal hearing started on Monday 3 February 2025 and was expected to last 2 weeks. However, after 2 weeks it was not complete and it adjourned part-heard. It resumed on 16 July and the last day of evidence will be 28 July and then there will be 2 days of submissions from counsel meaning that the hearing will end on 30 July.

The hearing commenced with Sandie Peggie giving evidence. Dr Beth Upton gave evidence from Thursday 6 February to Wednesday 12 February.

A lesbian is by definition a same sex attracted woman. Everyone who claims to be a lesbian, and claims to be supportive of men who make the meaningless and potentially dishonest claim that they believe themselves to be the sex they are not and never can be, is either -

(1) A lesbian who dates women only, and supports transbians as the straight men they are.
(2) A straight or bi-sexual woman who dates men and lies when she claims to be a lesbian.

There is literally not a single same sex attracted woman who dates people of the opposite sex. Just like there are no really "blue" reds, no English Literature which was written in French, no audio-only pictures, no full-colour black and white photos, no mono recordings which are stereo.

@WearyLady told my husband that if our child decided to transition I would promptly declare that I was becoming a man and he would in future be homosexual. I had picked my new name but would not change anything else. It did not go down well.

Was it ED who got herself in a tangle as to whether wearing make-up and having a haircut could change your chromosomal make-up and therefore sex? I know it was an NHS Fife senior nurse in part 1 and in response to NC’s questions on cross.

Well we don't know for sure if she now identifies as lesbian / bi-sexual as an independent decision out with her current relationship. She might not feel able to voice her own thoughts about it all.
