NHS Fife tries to silence nurse - Sandie Peggie vs NHS Fife Health Board and Dr Beth Upton - thread #38

nauticant · 22/07/2025 23:17

Sandie Peggie, a nurse at Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy (VH), has brought claims in the employment tribunal against her employer; Fife Health Board (the Board) and another employee, Dr B Upton. Ms Peggie’s claims are of sexual harassment, harassment related to a protected belief, indirect discrimination and victimisation. Dr Upton claims to be a transwoman, that is observed as male at birth but asserting a female gender identity.

The Employment Tribunal hearing started on Monday 3 February 2025 and was expected to last 2 weeks. However, after 2 weeks it was not complete and it adjourned part-heard. It resumed on 16 July and the last day of evidence will be 28 July and then there will be 2 days of submissions from counsel meaning that the hearing will end on 30 July.

The hearing commenced with Sandie Peggie giving evidence. Dr Beth Upton gave evidence from Thursday 6 February to Wednesday 12 February.

Access to view the hearing remotely was obtainable by sending an email request to [email protected] by 5pm on Wednesday 9 July. Detailed instructions were provided here:

They really aren’t making themselves look ridiculous at all. They are simply reporting on what is being raised in the tribunal .

You sent me to bed laughing last night Tandora, and here we are again. Honestly you should be on the stage!

do you have robust and impartial statistics on this? For reasons i know a lot of lesbians and none of them date TW, none of them think TW are women, and most of them are aghast at the homophobia coming from TRAs. Many who were Be Kind early on are deeply regretting the support they gave them.

Every lesbian I know dates women exclusively and don’t entertain the thought of trans identifying men.

I’m sure there was recent chat of Mum doing a PhD and Dad as curator/ librarian. Not sure it’s accurate or relevant - needless to say well resourced middle class family.

Yet apparently Madras College which certainly wasn’t middle class 20 years ago!

ThatCyanCat · 23/07/2025 12:29

Do not give deflectors what they want, at least not while important stuff is ongoing. There's a reason it didn't start until today's proceedings did.

BezMills · 23/07/2025 12:29

Fife Leader, staunin by!

Nothing on TT as yet.

Well... aye sure you'd put your kids in Wade Academy if you had £££ but Madras just by demographics was far naicer than the run-of-the-mill Fife HS, for example Auchmuty HS, Glenrothes HS, Kirkcaldy HS, Bell Baxter HS. None of which were terrible, but yer basic cooncil school.

sorry this was at @Brefugee

This , for example, is a survey of over 3.5 thousand younger people ages - 18-25

*Lesbians are the most supportive of trans people
Of all LGBT+ identities, other than trans and non-binary people themselves, lesbian young adults were most likely to say they know a trans person (92%), and most likely to say they are “supportive” or “very supportive” of trans people (96%).
In comparison, 89% of LGBT+ people overall said they were “supportive” or “very supportive” of trans people, and just 69% of non-LGBT+ people said the same. *

I've got "Show a little respect, tooooooo meeeeeeee!"

Which is ironic, in the circs 😄

AuldTheDeepMinded · 23/07/2025 12:34

I'm supportive of quite a few people. Doesn't mean I'd want to shag them.

Lunde · 23/07/2025 12:34

Literally!

I’ve often mused on the curse of my heterosexuality, thinking how nice life would be if I could only get over my fancying men. And yet who knew? All I had to do was to persuade my DP to pop on a bit of lippy and boom, we are a happy lesbian couple! I’m going to tackle this tonight when he gets in from work.

Good luck with that. Let us know how it goes.

If you asked me (a lesbian) if I know and support transpeople, I'd say yes too, and I'm GC as they come.

Of course, if you asked me if transwomen should be supported to access single-sex female spaces, I'd say no, and I think most of the polls show that most people would answer similarly to me when that question is asked.

Oh god I just put the oven timer on for 25 mins. I hope they start soon so things wont be too ruined by the break. I knew I should have cracked out the airfryer!

He did what??

They call it “nothing about us without us,” which sounds reasonable until you realise that they mean they call the shots and everyone else’s needs are secondary.

NebulousDog · 23/07/2025 12:35

One of the comments to TT has a nice photo of Sandie going into the ET about 30 minutes ago (Iain Masterton at about 12:58). Kate isn't smiling this morning.

Presumably they'll be breaking for lunch soon (or do you think they had all just sneaked out to the local 'Spoons for a slap-up breakfast)?

Is support the same thing as attraction?
Lesbians are women sexually attracted to women otherwise they're not lesbians.

If everyone stops engaging with a certain poster, they will hopefully l get bored and go to the thread that was set up for them.

Personally I don't want to see this thread taken over again with TRA arguments. I hope others feel the same and respond accordingly.
