The Bluestocking is reopening

It's time we reopened the Bluestocking, I think.

This is the FWR pub, situated in the charming village of Badley Fuckitt near the Shady Pines rest home. It has a cannon (for reasons lost in the mists of time), goats in the paddock next to the beer garden and a menu including many soups and cakes. It's open all hours, serving breakfast and tea to all weary women, in addition to being the ideal location to metaphorically drown your sorrows.

Brilliant. I'm on my way. 😀

I was wondering what all that noise was the other night. You were transforming the cellars in secret! Am donating a Rosie the Riveter rubber duck as a thank you.

ErrolTheDragon · 07/08/2024 23:33

What an excellent duck! I see it's free delivery on orders over £60, so maybe we'd better get 8 unless the Royal Armouries have any other unexpected feminist gems?

Could you shit with more consideration, d'you think?

Also, was it you who kept on trying to shit on my dogs the other day? Deliberately turning and flying low again until you had no shits left to give?

I much prefer goldfinches...

I need to a nice morning swim now.

No! That was 100% Steve!

I'm sorry about your door. I thought it was a Steve's house! My bad.

One hundred a fifty-eight felt tip pens in one box, for the truly addicted.
They are felt-tip pens, not 'sharpies', I'm resisting this creeping Americanisation in the Felt-Tip Pen Community..Smile

See, I prefer pencil crayons. Some sets look absolutely beautiful in their packaging.

However, when they get used and sharpened and they're all different lengths and pointiness, no longer pristine, I'd find that really difficult.

I'm also not particularly arty and I've not much interest in drawing as a hobby.

I think the earlier addicts were referring to Sharpies - the specific brand of indelible marker pen. I mostly only use them for labelling freezer boxes etc.
What are people using all the coloured ones for?

Yes I know all about Sharpies - I was just pointing out that 'sharpie' has become the 'hoover' of the marker world, linguisticallySmile

ErrolTheDragon · 08/08/2024 11:29

I was about to continue discussing whether referring to an item which is a market-leading specific American brand by its brand name necessarily constitutes an Americanism (Coke vs generic cola?) but sadly I need to go home and Miele my carpets.

quantumbutterfly · 08/08/2024 11:33

I shark my carpets and hoover my washing. But I Bosch my cooking, which makes me sound like I'm not really trying.

ErrolTheDragon · 08/08/2024 12:28

My cooking is distinctly Neff. Still, at least it's not Smeg. (I wonder if Red Dwarf impacted their U.K. sales?)

It is annoying when you have to sharpen a pencil that first time.

I AEG my cooking. Actually, it's usually over-AEGed.

quantumbutterfly · 08/08/2024 12:35

Now bosching the washing I hoovered earlier.

I don't mind about different length pencils, but I do like to arrange them in spectrum order.

lcakethereforeIam · 08/08/2024 12:40

And it'd have to be all logo hidden or all logo oriented upwards.

Spelling (although I have my suspicions about autocorrupt)

Boiledbeetle · 08/08/2024 12:51

I have been known to make sure all the logos show in the boxes, until the first sharpen then the box is spoilt anyway!

I do have other pencils that i keep sorted by colour, but if I tried sorting the individual colours into shades I'd go mad!

(If the end of the world ever happens I've got enough stationary items to rival Rymans! I'll starve way before I've finished colouring in!)

I can only answer for myself, @ErrolTheDragon- I don't actually use them, I just admire their colourful completeness. The same goes for both the sets of fine liner coloured pens I also possess. I like things that come in coloured sets - I also have a set of 30 different coloured reels of sewing cotton. I do actually use the cotton from time to time, but I am meticulous in putting the plastic wrap back round the cotton and putting it in the right place.

Amazon keeps trying to sell me a set of 100 different coloured reels of cotton, and so far I am resisting temptation, but it is very difficult, I can tell you. I know I wouldn't use them, but I neeeeed them so much.

My name is SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius, and I am addicted to stationary and coloured threads.

ErrolTheDragon · 08/08/2024 12:56

I don't mind about different length pencils, but I do like to arrange them in spectrum order.

But then the ones which don't fit nicely into the spectrum are annoying - some of the pastel colours, browns and greys.
Storing them vertically in a pot as a colour wheel probably doesn't solve all the problems either.

I'm rather glad my serious use of colour is digital Grin

I saw a comedian talking about visiting Brighton beach with her friend - they decided they wanted chips, so she went and bought two portions, which cost her £8 each, and on her way back to her friend, the seagulls dive bombed her, and the only way she could escape was by throwing £16 worth of chips at them!

Did you and Stephen have a day out to Brighton, by any chance, @KevintheSeagull?
