The Bluestocking is reopening

It's time we reopened the Bluestocking, I think.

This is the FWR pub, situated in the charming village of Badley Fuckitt near the Shady Pines rest home. It has a cannon (for reasons lost in the mists of time), goats in the paddock next to the beer garden and a menu including many soups and cakes. It's open all hours, serving breakfast and tea to all weary women, in addition to being the ideal location to metaphorically drown your sorrows.

I'm sure quokkas are just like pussycats, and keep to their own side of the bed, don't tramp across your head in the small hours, don't stalk round the house howling their head off during the darkest part of the night, don't decide to sleep on your hip and guilt trip you if you try to move, don't stare at you and drool on your face just before waking up time, don't gak up horrid hairballs mid way between you and the loo, don't snuggle onto your nice warm sheets while you are briefly away at said loo (and doing emergency foot-washing), don't shed hairs that get into your computer mouse and sabotage it, don't drink the water from your bedside glass even though they have their own bowl, don't try to kill your feet through the bedspread leaving horrible bloody gashes.

Like I say, just like pussycats, no bad habits at all.

😸

Do you think cats have a manual they follow. Bit like the cat version of the script!

Anyone know which room the sharpies anonymous meeting is in?

Yes, mine!

I'll see you there in 10. I have bagels. Cinnamon. And more Welsh Cakes.

DeanElderberry · 07/08/2024 19:34

Oscar has impeccable manners IN bed. I'm sure the occasional pitched battle is a response to severe provocation. And Rosy is so soft and silky.

quantumbutterfly · 07/08/2024 19:36

Keep a water pistol by the bed just in case they decide to get the wind up their tail in the early hours. (And some dreamies to beg for forgiveness later.)

& When they do that 'staring intently at things you can't see' - they know it freaks humans out.

Down the corridor, they'll be in the penultimate one.

DeanElderberry · 07/08/2024 19:42

Do not, however tempted you may be, enter the antepenultimate room.

Oh most definitely. I'm fact I was caught on a rogue cctv in one of the guest room bathrooms recently. No drinking out of guests glasses in the middle of the night for me! I got up and got myself a drink.

You'll see I was a perfect companion

I feared for a moment I'd be alone, I should have known better. I just followed the hand written in sharpie signs. Nice colour changes down the corridor!

DeanElderberry · 07/08/2024 19:56

beagles and Welsh corgis!

oh, bagels and Welsh cakes

Good to see someone has a worse Sharpie habit than me.

@Steventheseagull are you the bastard who shat down our front door and all over our car recently? And is it you and your mates who decide that 5.15a.m. is wakey-wakeys and zoom low over the rooftops squawking your bloody heads off?

Because if it is, you are NOT my friend.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 07/08/2024 21:17

Pens - including Sharpies - are included in my buying for crafts habit but not in my using them for doing crafts habit. This doesn’t stop me coveting more and more pens. I have a Problem.

Nope. Was my maate Kevin

FuzzyPuffling · 07/08/2024 22:02

The seagulls round here ( yes, 5.15am) sound like they are laughing. Madly. A lot. Loudly.

Do seagulls tell each other jokes?

FuzzyPuffling · 07/08/2024 22:03

And one of you ( @Steventheseagull ) left a chicken bone on my car roof last week.

Bannedontherun · 07/08/2024 22:06

Oooo a pile in on a seagull

ErrolTheDragon · 07/08/2024 22:20

Some pedants are (rather tediously) wont to say there's no such thing as 'seagulls'.
<checks username>otoh maybe let's not go there...

Maaaaaate!! And I've been standing in for you doing your shift at the shop as well, and this is how you repay me! Out me as the door shitter to all your other friends

I'm shitting on your nest from a great height tonight for that!

LarkLane · 07/08/2024 22:31

I'm hiding my chip supper and donning a hard hat.
Possibly full PPE required.

WallowingInCandlelight · 07/08/2024 22:36

I've name changed. I've had a frustrating day today and have been thinking about where I would really like to be this evening.

In the 1970s/80s, The Sanctuary in Covent Garden was a wonderful women-only place to go and when I was 8+ months pregnant I took myself there on my own for a day of TLC and R&R and good food. My (rapidly becoming ex-) partner had disappeared off to a conference with his affair (I knew exactly what was going on without being told). The memory of that chilled-out day and of wallowing and swimming naked while heavily pregnant in that beautiful pool and safe space is still with me decades later. That's where I'd like to be this evening (preferably with the pool lit by flickering candlelight). I think I'd choose to wear a swimsuit nowadays.

I'd love it if The Bluestocking would consider some sort of basement extension that could include a pool like The Sanctuary's was. Sharpies optional but no seagulls, goats, gerbils, quokkas, stressed out cats, Indian Runner ducks and so on, just wimmin.
