Oh do fuck off Daniel.

See, this is where I stand. I have no idea why his opinions should matter to anyone but himself. He's an idiot. He needs to fuck off.

RedToothBrush · 12/04/2023 18:00

but the big dangerous craze will probably be something new that we can't imagine yet.

Actually I think that's not quite how it works. The next new craze will be on the fringes now - it takes time to mushroom and blow up

It will be something we can imagine and envisage for that reason.

Trans was a known thing on the fringe, but I never thought kids would all get into it!

I've seen a lot of misogynist comments made towards Erin Darke on Twitter, including suggestions she must be trans based on judgements on her appearance.

I can't see what she's done to deserve this, other than be partners with someone who has voiced views that Gender Critical people may disagree with.

And I thought people "can always tell" what sex someone else? So do people really need to be asking if a pregnant woman is trans?

https://www.thepinknews.com/2023/04/09/daniel-radcliffe-erin-darke-transphobia/

Erin clearly has had issues with being judged by others due to her appearance.. it's sad. And agreed, I though only biological females can have a pregnancy?
Found this.. love that she embraces all the others seem to want to pinpoint and bring her down for...

Daniel Radcliffe has been involved with The Trevor Project for the last 12 years
so he will have been very young, about 21.

Im not excusing it at all, but he probably fell hook line and sinker for all the propaganda and now genuinely believes he’s doing the right thing.

Hopefully the reality of having a child will make him pause for thought, but I suspect he’s far too invested now to ever back track.

AmaryllisNightAndDay · 13/04/2023 09:50

Hm, so he knows more about it than it seemed. But you'd still have to be pretty naive to take an 11 year old's words so literally.

mach2 · 14/04/2023 10:34

If you buy into the notion that gender-is-innate-and-trumps-biological-sex then you have to buy into the idea of the trans child. The former collapses without the latter.

RedToothBrush · 14/04/2023 10:37

PorcelinaV · 12/04/2023 18:03

The kids always get into the thing on the fringe because it's the taboo thing to do though!

LunaNorth · 14/04/2023 16:42

That’s a bloody great article!

viques · 14/04/2023 19:15

Great guns Julie, you honestly won’t miss getting a Christmas card from Daniel, I’ve never had one and it doesn’t bother me at all!

dimorphism · 14/04/2023 19:23

Julie really nails it.

LethargeMarg · 14/04/2023 20:15

Daniel Radcliffe trying to single handedly do away with the legal and ethical complexities of Gillick competence by telling adults not to be condescending 🙄

WickedSerious · 14/04/2023 20:47

Brilliant article.

Shelefttheweb · 14/04/2023 21:30

Daniel being condescending…

SidewaysOtter · 14/04/2023 23:20

I’ve seen pairs of twice-used teabags with more charisma.

God I love Julie Birchill. She's first on the list at my fantasy dinner party

Littlesprouts · 15/04/2023 08:16

I'm not a fan of Julie Burchill but that made me laugh out loud a few times. My favourite response was from Helen Joyce on Twitter, who simply quote tweeted an article about this and wrote: "This man is an idiot".

Those five words managed to cover it quite succinctly.

Slothtoes · 15/04/2023 09:00

Julie Burchill isn’t wrong on this one about how privileged from birth lives are very shielded from the realities of gender identity politics.

Thank you for posting this.

It was an interesting watch. I found it difficult setting aside my annoyance at Matt Walsh's insistence that gender roles were valid (I'm aware that he has other views as well that I disagree with) but interesting that we unite on the Daniel Radcliffe issue. But I'm a critical thinking adult and am at peace with the idea that Matt Walsh and I can hold very different views on some subjects yet agree on others. That's how life works.

By contrast, Daniel Radcliffe has completely denounced and distanced himself from JKR as a person from what I can see. He really does have a lot of growing up to do.

WickedSerious · 15/04/2023 12:05

Nothing creepy about the bloke in green,no sir nothing creepy at all.

But making the point, that he was a conservative that actually believed in gender roles, and yet the progressives were being way stricter than him about it.

BonfireLady · 15/04/2023 12:54

True. Definitely an interesting angle that could open up some discussion on the whole subject. I'd love to see a debate between him and a gender identity advocate, specifically on what gender and gender traits/roles are.

BonfireLady · 15/04/2023 13:02

... and a feminist.
Specifically on that topic alone. With the generic acceptance that for the purpose of the debate "gender" refers to women and men.
