A woman has been found guilty of raping two women when she was a man. Happened in Scotland. She hasn’t been sentenced yet - but where will she serve her sentence? In the womens prison?!
This is going to mean some serious discussions and tough times for the Scottish government. But it was surely only a matter of time before something like this happened.

No, it's not the first time a man has been convicted of raping a woman and later claiming trans status.

I don't think it does clear their record. I looked in to this because I run a business which relies on PVG checks.

What it does do is increase the chance that they'll be able to avoid detection - but Disclosure Scotland match people based on (from memory) name, DOB, place of birth, address, couple of other things. Not sex. So if someone changes name (whether via GRC or another method) there will be a mismatch which should be investigated and bring up that there is an undisclosed name change, which should then be investigated. Obviously that is more manual and more likely to be missed.

In this case the criminal record will probably be in the name they're currently using.

That is shocking and dismaying. The rapist clearly still has a penis and testicles, going by the photograph in yesterday's Dail Mail.

It's genuinely depressing how often I have to make use of these links. For anyone who hasn't seen them before...

Yeah but the judge doesn't decide where people are put, they remand to custody and it's up to the prison service to carry out that assessment and place the prisoner. Tragically in this case, the SPS's head is up its arse and that means by (self) definition Corton Vale. But that's not the judge's fault.

It's horrific but clearly in line with the Scotland that sturgeon and the SNP want.

But they cannot be in a woman's prison , Nicola Sturgeon , the snps and the greens , insisted it was a gc conspiracy theory that rapists will use gender identity to get sent to woman prisons

We have to be able to campaign on this or do something surely? Please if anyone has any ideas I would like to try in any way. We don’t have a choice really we have to stop this horror show!

I suppose I could, hypothetically, just about accept that having voluntarily undergone castration and emasculation surgery would offer reasonably strong mitigation, at least making it very unlikely that the offence would be repeated.

I would always want to say fine, she/he can have their penis removed and then enter a female only prison in isolation. Bet you 100% they would then say they no longer want to be a woman and keep their penis and enter a mens prison.

It is a very helpful photograph for anyone who falls for the "they're a woman " line isn't it?

It's absolutely disgusting. When he first appeared, he presented as a man and went by a mans name.

I can only assume this has been done as he doesn't want to be sent to a mens prison.

If he's sent to a WOMENS prison for raping two WOMEN then the world has gone mad.

One could imagine from this photo of the accused on the way to court, that there was a hope of going on a little holiday.

For most people being remanded in custody would be a personal travesty. Looks like it's a holiday of a lifetime for this person.

The court was told that using this person's birth name was deadnaming and not ok. But they changed name twice more during the proceedings. Who on earth is known by three names during a court case when they're not being tried for some kind of fraud or identity theft?

Quite interesting that the jury convicted. Shows that the "peers" can see through the "I'm trans so wouldn't hurt anybody" BS.

I mean, what's she's saying is absolute shite. But she keeps on repeating it despite evidence to the contrary.
