A woman has been found guilty of raping two women when she was a man. Happened in Scotland. She hasn’t been sentenced yet - but where will she serve her sentence? In the womens prison?!
This is going to mean some serious discussions and tough times for the Scottish government. But it was surely only a matter of time before something like this happened.

Will this man’s crimes therefore be recorded as being committed by a woman?

She’s still a man - no-one changes sex.

It’ll be v interesting to see where the SG goes with this but no doubt the views of the women in Cornton Vale will be summarily dismissed as they’re told to be kind and be quiet.

Glad he's been found guilty but that opens up new concerns about which prison estate he will be sent to, men's or women's?

If Nicola Sturgeon really believe trans women are women then she should intervene to ensure this ‘person’ is sent to a woman’s prison. If she doesn’t, why won’t she?

And then she can intervene again to ensure that the women in the prison can be kept safe.
And then she can intervene again to ensure that the prisoner goes to a female prison as she's a women
And then she can intervene.......

With luck it'll just keep her busy for the rest of her life.

The, erm, person wasn't claiming to be a woman when they committed the rapes. If they are sent to a womens' prison, it'll be even more of a travesty than the other cases.

There will be far more of this in Scotland in the near future.

Since 2014, the policy of the SPS has been that "prisoners should be accommodated on the basis of self-declared identity, subject to a risk assessment."

Is it this case where the KC attempted to suggest to that transition should work in favour of aquital and that transition means this male rapist isn't a predatory man?

Impossible. Women are incapable of rape. This is a crime committed by a man and should be recorded as such and we should stop pandering to this ridiculous delusion.

Was coming to post this , how disgusting is it , that the bbc scotland headline was "woman convicted of raping 2 woman " just watched the news with my jaw on the floor and shouting , not a woman , this person used their penis to rape 2 woman , their defence barrister , then used trans status as a defence and tried to claim it means they are not a risk , it was a male crime commited by a male , this is not a womans crime

Exactly. Even if everyone agrees with the delusion anyway, it won't be long before the demand isn't 'let me go to a women's prison' but 'let me off scot free, I only did it because I'd been brought up as a man instead of allowed to be a woman, women don't rape and I was really a woman all along so you can't convict me.' Very slippery slope trying to "be kind" and go with the delusion.

Interesting that the policy is framed around the trans prisoner’s needs - the needs of the prisoners they would be houses with don’t seem to matter much. For example, the needs of vulnerable women to not be housed with biologically male humans (whatever the risk assessment) simply aren’t a consideration.

Of course, the claim is that trans rights don’t conflict in any way ever with women’s rights. 🤦🏻‍♀️

Let’s remove the concept of gender from
law entirely. We have single sex prisons. And humans cannot change sex. It’s just not possible. We are not clown fish.

If they are sent to a woman's prison, all the female inmates should ask to be transferred to a single sex prison as is their right not to serve their sentence in a mixed prison

The solicitors for the defence seem to be claiming that being transgender is itself grounds for acquittal.

I thought it disgraceful how little time was given to this on the lunchtime news, it barely got a mention but they spent the next 5 minutes or so on proposed changes to fox hunting.

Just read in that article the defence lawyer said there were three vulnerable people - the two victims and the rapist.
