I thought MPs were bound by some standards of behaviour?

Yesterday the leader of the SNP at WM called his peers 'rabid gammon', which was shocking, but what I found more disturbing was Llloyd Russell-Moyle's verbal attack on Miriam Cates (clip above).

I actually found his behaviour frightening and alarming, and can't imagine how it must feel to have that venom directed at you by a colleague - let alone the slanderous accusations made.

Is it possible to make a complaint to the Labour Party about his behaviour?

I meant to ask, or is it possible/better to complain to the HoC? I was really surprised the Speaker didn't kick him out.

I sent him an email yesterday ccd to kier starmer telling him exactly what i thought of his behaviour yesterday. And that he needs to publicly apologise to miriam.

I don't expect a response but at least i got it off my chest.

Can you complain to the HoC? I've never thought of that.

AdamRyan · 18/01/2023 12:58

The clip doesn't have his comments
Her speech was ace tho

ArabellaScott · 18/01/2023 13:02

Oh, bugger, sorry. I thought it had him in it. Will try and find a clip.

Ah, he is so proud of his horrible performance he has shared it on his Twitter. Like a toddler showing you the potty:

Was it he who was heckling Rosie Duffield as well? How they think men shouting over a woman trying to talk about women's safety is a good look, I'll never know. He's a rabid misogynist.

ArabellaScott · 18/01/2023 13:06

It's the anger and rage. It's a bully's jabbing, stabbing finger, the harshness of his voice. I find it genuinely threatening.

unwashedanddazed · 18/01/2023 13:10

Can't see him apologising as he's proudly tweeted his vile abuse of Miriam Cates, in pursuit of QT asspats I assume. Replies off, of course. It's been quote tweeted over a 1300 times, not one I've seen is in approval.

I’m a Labour Party member, is it worth complaining to them?

IcakethereforeIam · 18/01/2023 13:13

It was his aid who shouted at a baby, wasn't it?

I've seen suggestions to address complaints to the Labour Party chief whip. Won't his local party also have a committee? Perhaps them?

I would say so, yes. I had a look at their complaints process but it seemed to be more for members than just the general public.

he is too stupid, as are many people involved in these discussions.

At no time did she link trans people with child abusers.
She linked abusers with using any means they can to get access to women and children.
In fact, she didn't mention trans people at all (or hardly at all) and the people who listened to what she said and thought immediately that she was talking about trans people being abusers are dangerously thick.

Aha, thanks.

This is the Labour chief whip.

Wasn't it Lloyd Russell-Moyle who argued that teachers should be teaching children in SRE lessons how to "choke" safely? Which really throws a grim light on his lack of understanding of child safeguarding, safety and wellbeing. (along with a skewed insight into 'age appropriate" behaviour).

The very same.

Lottapianos · 18/01/2023 13:22

Gosh, her speech was excellent. Every word was spot on

'Wasn't it Lloyd Russell-Moyle who argued that teachers should be teaching children in SRE lessons how to "choke" safely?'

Jesus Christ

ArabellaScott · 18/01/2023 13:23

Yes. And also suggested that he knew where Tory voters lived in a vaguely threatening manner.

'“I do not think it is an exaggeration when we say the Conservatives have conspired to murder and let die British citizens,” he reportedly said. “That is what they have done and that is what they will continue to do.”

The tirade, made on a video seen by the Mail on Sunday, also reportedly saw the Brighton Kemptown MP vow to “rout out” Tories in his constituency, adding: “We know where they live.”'

Yes it was his staffer who yelled at a baby, calling it a fascist.

But I guess LRM leads by example 🤷‍♀️

ShamedBySiri · 18/01/2023 13:28

He has a long history of misogyny.
Two years ago he was very unpleasant to Selina Scott. Sadly this is just a voice recording because I remember how red in the face furious he was at the time.

YetAnotherSpartacus · 18/01/2023 13:29

I thought it referred to protest but it reminded me a little of a hyped up version of Jim Hacker coming over all Churchillian.

DaisyCornflowerBlue · 18/01/2023 13:29

iWork with the public. I find the stupidest are the loudest and most angry.

He should apologise (he won't) and he should have been kicked out (he wasn't).
