I thought MPs were bound by some standards of behaviour?

Yesterday the leader of the SNP at WM called his peers 'rabid gammon', which was shocking, but what I found more disturbing was Llloyd Russell-Moyle's verbal attack on Miriam Cates (clip above).

I actually found his behaviour frightening and alarming, and can't imagine how it must feel to have that venom directed at you by a colleague - let alone the slanderous accusations made.

Is it possible to make a complaint to the Labour Party about his behaviour?

She's my local MP. I've written to her a few time to complain about the Tory party but I'm off now to email some praise.

RoyalCorgi · 18/01/2023 13:42

Same guy accused JK Rowling of weaponising her trauma.

Not only is he a nasty, aggressive misogynist, he's terrifyingly dim. It's rarely a winning combination.

FrancescaContini · 18/01/2023 13:46

I could almost feel the specks of his angry spittle coming through my screen 🤮

Wasn't it Lloyd Russell-Moyle who argued that teachers should be teaching children in SRE lessons how to "choke" safely? Which really throws a grim light on his lack of understanding of child safeguarding, safety and wellbeing. (along with a skewed insight into 'age appropriate" behaviour).

Fucksake 😡

'Not only is he a nasty, aggressive misogynist, he's terrifyingly dim. It's rarely a winning combination'.

He is, and hugely self righteous with it. Scary combination

Mollyollydolly · 18/01/2023 13:54

He's a scary man, a vile man. He genuinely disturbs me, so many anger issues. I suspect Starmer would like to get rid, he really is a vile excuse of a human being. Puts me off ever voting Labour again while he remains in the party.

EndlessTea · 18/01/2023 13:59

I find him frightening. He really despises women. Men who despise women are dangerous to women. I can’t bear to see his face. Disturbing individual.

endofagain · 18/01/2023 14:05

Shelagh Fogarty is talking about this on LBC now.

Same guy accused JK Rowling of weaponising her trauma.

And then mocked Miriam Cates, because she was frightened by a big man in a dress, staring at her, in the toilets. Starmer and Labour in general need to realise that disgusting behaviour like that is going to haemorrhage votes from them.

AdamRyan · 18/01/2023 14:09

He is playing to twitter not replying to her. Notice he didn't include her speech in his video. He just wants to show himself crusading against transphobia. Yuck.

Lottapianos · 18/01/2023 14:20

'Shelagh Fogarty is talking about this on LBC now.'

Listening now. Have heard her on this topic before - she's on top of the issue, knows her stuff, and is very fair to everyone who phones in

Yes it was his staffer who yelled at a baby, calling it a fascist.

But I guess LRM leads by example 🤷‍♀️

A fascist baby ? Was it wearing a little black shirt ?

endofagain · 18/01/2023 15:00

Goodness. The man currently lecturing Shelagh atm is lying with every word he speaks. She didn't challenge anything.

StellaAndCrow · 18/01/2023 15:22

Have you seen his shit "apology" on Twitter? Apparently he "failed to control [his] passion".

SinnerBoy · 18/01/2023 15:23

How can that be classed as an apology? He said that he stands by his abuse and lies.

PronounssheRa · 18/01/2023 15:39

Sorry, not sorry 🙄

ArabellaScott · 18/01/2023 15:40

He just couldn't help himself.

He lost control.

He's an abusive misogynist and everyone can see it.

It's not 'tone' to scream - literally scream, I'm not being hyperbolic - at a woman, jab your finger at her. That's bullying, abusive aggression.

Can you imagine being his constituent? Can you imagine being a female constituent? A female constituent with views he disagrees with?

OP posts:
CharlieParley · 18/01/2023 15:44

Since when is the view that women and children need safeguarding from predatory men an abhorrent one?

StellaAndCrow · 18/01/2023 15:45

Yes, and fits with his previous behaviour e.g. saying JKR "exploited" her sexual abuse. As Datun said at the time,
"Wanting sex segregation because you've been sexually assaulted is exploitation of your own assault???
Dear God. Some men really do consider that women are less than shit on their shoe, don't they.
He is actually viewing J. K. Rowling's sexual assault as nothing more than an inconvenience to him."

It's horrifying, isn't it? They are supposed to be diplomatic with constituents, be they racists or whatever.

StellaAndCrow · 18/01/2023 15:49

SinnerBoy yes, and that's what he's prepared to be like not just in public, but in his workplace, knowing he's being televised. I wouldn't like to think what he might be like without those constraints.

Kucinghitam · 18/01/2023 15:50

LRM is yet another of the seemingly limitless supply of Right-Side-Of-History fanatics, who just know that because they've self-identified as being Good People, therefore by definition anything and everything they do (aggression, lies, cruelty, threats...) must be Good.

I find such zealots frightening, and that would be regardless of what their zealotry is in aid of.

ScrollingLeaves · 18/01/2023 16:24

I have just listened. Thank you for posting that.

Imagine standing up after someone’s speech and saying ‘Goodness me…. that’s one of the worst speeches …’

I feel very angry on her behalf.

Of course his recourse to bullying was precisely because her speech was so good and he knows he cannot adequately rebut it. What a crude, rude idiot.

Have people here seen the petition to Update the Equality Act to make clear that sex means biological sex and not sex as modified by a gender recognition certificate? If not, here it is in case you’d like to sign:
