I thought MPs were bound by some standards of behaviour?

Yesterday the leader of the SNP at WM called his peers 'rabid gammon', which was shocking, but what I found more disturbing was Llloyd Russell-Moyle's verbal attack on Miriam Cates (clip above).

I actually found his behaviour frightening and alarming, and can't imagine how it must feel to have that venom directed at you by a colleague - let alone the slanderous accusations made.

Is it possible to make a complaint to the Labour Party about his behaviour?

Keir needs to get a grip on this issue. Where is he?

ScrollingLeaves · 02/02/2023 09:00

Thank you for that, she speaks so well and has put forward the reasons for the primacy of the importance of ‘sex ‘ and our ‘social contract’ around that exceptionally clearly and reasonably.

She also explains how the safeguarding of children has been affected by this ideology in a persuasive, logical way.

Really she is a revelation in how fluently and lucidly she argues about these issues.

If anyone reading here has not yet done so, you may like to take a look at this petition to Parliament to update the Equality Act to make clear that the protected characteristic ‘sex ‘ is biological.

I don’t vote Tory but Miriam is a star. She and Rosie put everyone else in the HoC to shame with their honesty and passion.

If you’re reading this, Miriam: thank you 💐

Tonia Antoniazzi and Karin Smyth are another two MPs who speak up for women. There are more, some in the HoLs also. Others agree but are still keeping under the radar sadly; a bad state of affairs.

"I don't know why Rosie has chosen to express her views"

From another Labour MP(!)

Something odd happened with that tweet, looks to be deleted now. I think this covers it though

I'm really disappointed with Thangam I've met her a couple of times and thought she was a decent sort. But this does confirm to me that there is a party wide line on this issue that many are too scared to cross.

Yeah that Miriam Cates interview was fantastic, thanks for the share. She seems like that rare thing, a politician of intelligence and integrity. How come the Tories seem to have more women MPs in this category than the other parties put together? Miriam made so many excellent points.

hello all, just to update you, Lloyd RM didn't reply to my complaint. I got the auto reply saying it had been received, and that replies were usually sent within three weeks, just over three weeks ago now.

So he's chosen to ignore it and not bother replying!!

CryptoFascistMadameCholet · 18/02/2023 11:31

What a wanker!

are you going to resend? I would consider cc’ing in some extras - leader of the local council, your local ward cllrs, the Chair, Secretary and Treasurer of Oily Moley’s CLP…

Ritasueandbobtoo9 · 18/02/2023 11:43

Of course he isn’t going to respond. Why bother interacting with a woman. He only has contempt for us.

DevilinaCardigan · 18/02/2023 20:03

I live in his constituency and we had the canvasers around today. Not LRM himself, but I did tell the guy that I was really disappointed in his behaviour and felt that it was inappropriate.
I mentioned a few other things regarding self id and Labour policy. TBF the guy listened politely but I may have off loaded on him a bit. He did take some notes so I hope it feeds back.

Has Starmer reprimanded the squeaky joke yet?
