They may be starting to get the message.

Good.

Handsoffmyrights · 30/09/2022 17:22

We told them so.

OhLordyWhatNow · 30/09/2022 17:23

Who will be next in the changing room U-turn?

<Side eye at M&S>

Penguinsaregreat · 30/09/2022 17:23

Good.

MrsOvertonsWindow · 30/09/2022 17:23

Thank you OP. I think the levels of publicity about the sheer number of male predators perving on women and girls in Primark (and being prosecuted for it) has pushed them into the inevitable. Which is why it's so important to speak out about the other High Street stores where women are forced to have their bras fitted alongside males wanting a quick thrill - as can happen in an M & S changing room for example.

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 30/09/2022 17:23

Wow.
I wonder if this means in practice that of the old men’s and women’s areas one will become mixed sex and one women’s. In contrast to the toilets etc where the men keep theirs and the women’s is open to all.

KangarooKenny · 30/09/2022 17:23

Come on M&S, it’s your turn.

nauticant · 30/09/2022 17:24

I wonder what they mean by "women"? Plenty of people are asking them on twitter but not getting any response:

It's odd, isn't it? I imagine some men would prefer the men's to be reinstated too.

ByTheGrace · 30/09/2022 17:26

Am I cynical in thinking the dedicated single sex area will be one separate cubicle and the rest will be mixed.
Also I think some stores have kept their single sex changing rooms, I'm fairly sure Burnley was single sex last time I visited, perhaps because it is an area with a higher proportion of Muslim women? Although it was pre covid when I was last there.

And there's this, of course...

Good

I’d hope they mean adult human female, although it’s of course risky to use those actual words, since they’re ‘hateful’, ‘bigoted’ and ‘literally violent’….

Yeah, there is that, but hopefully it'll stop the worst of the pervy men and boys.

looks good on the face of it, but do they think men who say are women are indeed women and should be allowed into the women’s changing rooms?

cause then any men who wants to install a camera, or spy with his camera, or walk in “by accident” , or out undressed, etc can still do it?

they don’t need makeup, dress, etc just to say the magic worlds

im afraid that’s still might be the case with primark

The men who wouldn’t have done anything anyway will go the he 2nd room and all the others just need the courage to say the words, and some will have it

MrsOvertonsWindow · 30/09/2022 17:45

They'll try to avoid answering the "what is a woman" question for as long as possible. They don't want to come over like Starmer or Davey and just look creepy.

Georgeskitchen · 30/09/2022 17:45

Common sense reigns at last. Who will be next to start protecting their core customer base I wonder

Goodoldvera · 30/09/2022 17:49

Let's not forget 'trans men' and everything in-between in this, presumably females on the 'mens' floor wanting to try men's clothing for size...no harm in this but for the person in charge of the fitting room it's a dilemma..and a potential minefield. Some people take a dump others have a w*NK...it's always been an issue male female or in between..just saying

ArabellaScott · 30/09/2022 17:57

Women are not stupid. We know that if you change the meaning of the word 'woman' then that statement is close to meaningless.

FOJN · 30/09/2022 17:58

www.itv.com/news/anglia/2022-09-26/primark-reviews-unisex-changing-rooms-as-men-walk-in-on-woman

"If customers are uncomfortable changing in a unisex room, Primark said they could speak to a member of staff who could direct them to an "easy access" fitting room, which has a lockable door."

Is this the new policy, the old policy or the temporary policy?

I'm not hopeful the women's changing rooms will be single sex.

Has anyone seen any TRA's losing their mind over this? Have they asked for clarification and received a response?

nauticant · 30/09/2022 18:01

Not yet. If trans activists were wise they'd keep quiet about this and instead just apply pressure to unempowered Primark staff on the ground for a continuation of open access.

Blackandwhitehorse · 30/09/2022 18:27

Shop floor staff won’t be able to police to ensure single sex, only thing that would work is it no longer being socially acceptable for men (no matter how they identify) to do this. Name and shame these men I think.

PutinIsAWarCriminal · 30/09/2022 18:35

Hur-bloody-rah.
I have to say I went to m&s in our local town and a man was quickly diverted from entering the ladies changing rooms.

bythere · 30/09/2022 18:41

That's great news! Hope the policy stays in effect.
