They may be starting to get the message.

Get real

@Goodoldvera You're the one that needs to get real.

I am a woman...a Primark employee and have more of a tache then I ever had before..what I'm advocating is a bit of trust in humanity and the LGBT community as a whole. There will always be rotten apples

Ah, the old "there'll always be rotten apples" line.

Well, we'll just let the rotten apples get on with it and not take any steps to stop them, shall we?

Goodoldvera · 07/10/2022 19:07

Live4weekend · 07/10/2022 18:56

And I am a mother of a young girl.

There are a lot of people out there who do not respect woman and girls. Some of them are part of the LGBT community and some aren't.

I do not believe that a male bodied person who uses female single sex spaces respects woman. If they did, they wouldn't use them.

I do not believe that the massive increase of male bodied people (especially middle aged men) that identify as woman and now use female single sex spaces have not changed the risk level for females using those spaces.

I believe that woman are now starting to self exclude from places. And if things carry on increasing at the rate they currently are, then it will happen more and more.

I do not think that my daughter has the same rights that I had as a child and early womanhood. Her risks will be greater and she will have to be a lot more aware in the spaces that I would have felt safe.

But hey, what does she matter- she is female.

Primark is re introducing women only spaces through media spotlight (hype) any male who enters that space looking like a man but saying he's a woman will be clocked for sure, your daughter will be safer there than she maybe once she leaves the store..that's not Primarks responsibility with all due respect..there will be a 'risk' of people with male genitalia who look more female then some females in that area. #ladyboys they are not anymore likely to harm your daughter than anyone else remember

Nope and I've never been assaulted in a fitting room, maybe my tache has protected me?? I avoid streets late at night though in case my would be attacker has bad eyesight

Amazing. I wonder how on earth all the people you encounter on a daily basis can tell? 🤔

@CatsandFish
I was about to post those exact words 😁!

@Goodoldvera
No, you get real. Men are not and cannot become women - that is reality. PPs have explained several times why it is dangerous and insulting to women to pretend otherwise, but what it comes down to is that humans exist as males and females and there is no overlap and no third option. That is the rock on which gender woo will founder, ultimately.

Rotten apples do other harmful things that are antisocial or bad to society..they are criminals nothing else...but they live amongst us and are some people's nearest and dearest..their gender has nothing to do with it

Goodoldvera · 07/10/2022 19:14

Johnnysgirl · 07/10/2022 18:34

live and let live or just avoid the fitting room if it you feel so vulnerable in a social/public situation. Everywhere you go you will encounter 'people' and their foibles...unless you stay home of course
And again, we have the "If you don't like men in women only spaces, stay home" Confused
No. Fuck off and speak for yourself.

No you fuck off!

What does this have to do with men in women's spaces, exactly?

Goodoldvera · 07/10/2022 19:15

Spirogyra · 03/10/2022 20:58

Following the link and reading the Primark website it seems obviouis to me that it includes trans women, as the wording used is 'all women'. "The women-only area is for all women, and customers are not required to provide identificiation."

Of course not..I've realised my passport is out of date, how do I prove I'm a woman?

And we should do everything we can to stop the rotten apples harming people.

In this case, it means keeping biological males out of spaces where females are particularly vulnerable.

It's their sex that matters, not any "gender".

I pull my pants down.....is that what you want people to do?? Ffs I am a woman I dress as a woman but I don't faff over my appearance like many do. I suspect some trans women make more of an effort than I do, others you can tell a mile off, but it doesn't mean they would be a threat to anyone whilst trying on a dress in a fitting room either.

  1. It doesn't mean they wouldn't be a threat, either. Especially considering any male is a potential threat to a woman, and departmental data shows TW retain the same male pattern of offending, as other men.
  2. Besides that, as I said, it's about respecting vulnerable womens rights to privacy and dignity, not just safety.

No offence to you...but I've said my piece from my experiences as a woman who has lived through many ages...and perspectives. And who works in Primark and encounters all types of people every day, all colours flavours sexual persuasions you name it!!! Lovely ones, nasty ones, honest and not so honest, piss takers, fitting room shitter's, druggies off their faces..people with chips on their shoulders..but no fitting room attacks. They are reintroducing women's only spaces, it was an issue before it all went gender neutral and it caused embarrassment to those genuinely trans or non binary (they do exist) it is a step back towards women who are sensitive and they should feel better about it, whilst leaving everyone else to do their thing..nothing in life goes 100% your way, we all take a gamble stepping off our doorsteps each morning afterall..open your heart and mind

No. Men should be excluded. That'll do. If you can't tell the difference, ask your colleagues to do it instead. I'll bet they can, with no difficulty whatsoever.

Fyi many men buy a 30inch leg trouser, and are still taller than an average female. Regular female leg length is usually 32 short is 30 petite is 28..ponder on that with your diagram. Some female shapes are more straight up and down naturally I think there is a spectrum. News today announced more of the younger generation identify as bisexual, then gay or straight..time to re-evaluate lots of stuff you believe to be true maybe?

CatsandFish · 07/10/2022 20:20

Bisexual, gay, straight are sexual preferences. Nothing to do with telling if you're male or female. What a bizarre comment.

You think there is a spectrum?? Sweet Jesus. There's no arguing with that shit.

Live4weekend · 07/10/2022 20:41

Pretending that transwoman are not male so do not assault woman at the same rate as males is such a bad faith argument. Its not true, its never true. Many people think that Primark have reintroduced woman only changing rooms and they have a false sense of security.

I would have much more respect for the following argument 'Allowing Transwoman in to womans single sex spaces will increase the number of assaults on woman but the trade off is acceptable so that we can be inclusive to these people assigned male at birth. They are male, so they are entitled to more privilege than woman. You are collateral damage'

Now OK, I wouldn't be happy, but at least it's the truth. What we have now is dangerous.

StupidSmallFruit · 07/10/2022 21:03

You can be inclusive of all LGBTQ+ people.

But it does necessitate deprioritising women’s needs, dignity and safety.

It’s OK not to be OK with this .
