‘Maya Forstater or any of her associates.’

😂

ickky · 20/05/2022 14:02

David the informant Renton is up this afternoon too, he was the one sharing AB's room and recorded her conversations.

I think it is less common now. The Wagathia Christie trial was held in physical court cocurrent to this.

Can you even imagine the chaos that judge would be dealing with if it was online like this one?

A friend of mine said that a recent trial involving Swindon Town FC was online and the chat box was chaos.

Poor Luke Harvey looks a bit rabbit in the headlights.

@WinterTrees YES 😂And the sorry character must refer to his mum 'an utter arse of a woman' and then throw some cutted up pear across the room 😂

What!!

tabbycatstripy · 20/05/2022 14:13

Luke Harvey does what I’d do in the witness box: takes his sweet time.

Ameanstreakamilewide · 20/05/2022 14:13

He does look terribly nervous, bless him...

oviraptor21 · 20/05/2022 14:13

And a veeee .....ry long pause.

TheClitterati · 20/05/2022 14:14

Luke Harvey giving me Luke Easley (GDC v Forstater) vibes

Rightsraptor · 20/05/2022 14:15

If Luke does long pauses ........ and we know Ben does ............... this'll take forever.

tabbycatstripy · 20/05/2022 14:15

Wasn’t he “without identity, you’re just a corpse”?

Ameanstreakamilewide · 20/05/2022 14:16

Yes he was the twonk who said that. 🙄

PrelateChuckles · 20/05/2022 14:17

Tribunal Tweets have referred to him as Mark Renton, who's the main character in Trainspotting and who I have been picturing throughout Grin

maltravers · 20/05/2022 14:18

Thanks @nauticant for the tip about where to find the pleadings. I’m not signed up to the online proceedings (although I might as well be!). Time to do some work and catch up later…

ickky · 20/05/2022 14:22

From Wiki

David Renton is a British barrister, and has represented clients in a number of high-profile cases, especially concerning trade union rights and the protection of free speech (WTAF). He was for many years a member of the Socialist Workers Party.

Words in bold are my own.

What a sneaky swine.

Honestly, I feel like I'm learning so much. I feel my contribution was worth it for the learning opportunity and entertainment value alone!

If they can sort the tech out so it's less of a burden on the judge and less intrusive I do think this style of open access to viewing cases would be good. Perhaps we'd be more willing (as a society) to challenge cuts in legal aid etc if we had a better understanding of how the justice system works.

Completely agree. I've done jury service once, and bizarrely just remembered I did my work experience in a solicitor's office, but seeing these cases in full (and I have to say, with both informed and comedy commentary) has been absolutely enlightening.

SenselessUbiquity · 20/05/2022 14:22

I know we've been told off for fancifully imagining the private lives of the lawyers, but it's so tempting when they are so necessarily impersonal at work. I can't help seeing the judge at home as incredibly brusque and sweary - a bit Carolyn from Killing Eve - pouring stiff drinks for her companion / life partner / help meet while viciously describing the irritating behaviour of the day and turning the air blue while doing so. "And that fucking little priss of a counsel - you know the one with the head girl voice - well she decided she was ready for her fucking close-up, Mr de mille - "
