Guess what? Women hate gender neutral toilets...

Report in a couple of papers this morning...
www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-10536737/West-End-drama-gender-neutral-toilets-Theatregoers-blast-gross-restrooms.html
I might have gone (if the tickets hadn't been so expensive) but I shall certainly make a note to avoid this theatre in the future...

I'm.sure I have read that women are responsible in something like 80-90 percent of cases for household spending/budgeting/organisation .

So making these places unaccessible to women and our children will mean they lose a hell of alot of custom

Whatwouldscullydo · 22/02/2022 11:04

This will also cost them group bookings such as schools won't it? If the teachers can't safguard the kids they won't go either

Mrsjayy · 22/02/2022 11:08

She is on This Morning after the break they stopped for the weather so her interview has already started.

I do sometimes wonder if one of the contributors on this thread is a DM reporter! However I think as one of the biggest online newspapers (I think there is a monthly readership of 20 million) I am glad they are. Unisex toilets as the only option are a terrible idea. Nobody wants to walk past men using urinals and I would imagine the men themselves find it embarrassing.

AmandaHoldensLips · 22/02/2022 11:11

Gender neutral my arse. It's MIXED SEX. I complain very loudly wherever I see this, because it's bullshit.

No woman wants to share public toilet facilities with MEN.

HelloKeith · 22/02/2022 11:17

These aren't gender neutral, they've just taken the signs off the door in an attempt to appear more inclusive, thus meaning children can't go, women won't go, and no one that needs the accessible toilet can get to it because of the massive queue.

Mrsjayy · 22/02/2022 11:24

Yes people will want to use the disabled toilet because nobody wants to use the "urinal" toilets. I had to switch over this morning Mathew Wright was apparently fine about using mixed toilets my eyes almost rolled out of my head !

Imnobody4 · 22/02/2022 11:25

The results of the gov consultation on toilets haven't been published yet. It's been a year since it closed. Are there any rules on how long they should take? I am just so sick of all this. How on earth did forcing women to share toilets with men become a crusade for 'progressives'.

DottyHarmer · 22/02/2022 11:29

Dh and ds are as perturbed as I am. They can barely manage to go in a urinal in a men’s toilet; we were discussing this and they said that nothing would be more mortifying than weeing in front of women, and that if you went in a cubicle you might as well be wearing a sign that you were doing a poo.

LostMyLastHatfulOfWords · 22/02/2022 11:31

The pair of toilets at a local place have just become 'mixed sex'... and are now emergency only to us.

(There is suddenly much evidence to prove that people who stand-up to pee do drip on seats. Hmm )

EsmaCannonball · 22/02/2022 11:41

I never understand why people think that the creeps, weirdos and yobs who harass women on the street are suddenly going to behave like respectful angels when gifted mixed-sex toilets.

Aside from that, women, specifically middle-aged women, make up the majority of theatre-goers. Despite that these companies never seem to worry about pissing us off, I suppose because they expect us to put up with any old shit. They also never think about the lost revenue of women who aren't spending money on drinks, either because they spend the entire time in the queue for the toilets or because they are avoiding drinking because they don't want to end up in the queue for the toilets. Perhaps women need to start protesting this by occupying the cubicles and refusing to leave.

Yes, the women in developing countries are so lucky that they already have progressive, inclusive mixed-sex toilets. That's definitely what we should be moving towards.

Definitely synonymous with privacy, dignity, and safety. Hmm

They've taken leave of their senses.

MoodyMooToo · 22/02/2022 12:22

Never classed myself as a feminist but lately things have been getting ridiculous.
They have installed gender neutral toilets in my office. Told them no way am I using them and now walk to the nearest ladies, on work time, not my own.

highame · 22/02/2022 12:26

well done MoodyMooToo I also believe one of the government offices went mixed and had to revert back because women wouldn't use

Beowulfa · 22/02/2022 12:33

Theatre toilets are always shit. They lose income from me because I never buy drinks before the performance or at half time.

EmbarrassingHadrosaurus · 22/02/2022 12:34

I wonder if we'd be where we find ourselves today if more people had been prepared to pay attention to what feminists have been warning about for a number of years.

It's not straightforward, of course. Look at all the deplatforming of feminists on social media for stating biological facts and all the attempts to prosecute them for non-crime hate incidents or actual hate crimes for similar.

I'm grateful we have MN but we had Feminist Chat taken from us because FWR was "too intimidating" and were segregated here in S&G only to find that Feminist Chat is now mostly tumbleweed and MNHQ have taken to moving threads from here to there in an attempt to stimulate it (it seems).

EmmaGrundyForPM · 22/02/2022 12:36

I work for our local council. We have a new HQ and all the toilets are "gender neutral". I haven't been there yet, but am intrigued as to what the set up is. In our old building, women in the loos were always adjusting underwear, doing make up etc in the sink area. They're not going to do that in mixed sex toilets.

SunniDelite · 22/02/2022 12:36

"But others backed the move with some saying it is a bid to 'become more inclusive for non-binary and transgender people'."
Yeah, right. And less inclusive for women. :(

Please can you let us know what was said on This Morning? I don’t watch because I can’t stand the hosts.

There will, of course, eventually be gulags to help convince us that it doesn't matter if these things are not inclusive for women who are, as Any Fule Kno, excluded by default from the categories of people whom Human Rights cover.

We will be able to say this as gin scented tears trickle down our cheeks, the clock strikes 13, and we know that we love Big Sibling.

Elsiebear90 · 22/02/2022 13:06

We have unisex toilets as well as male and female ones at work (hospital), they are private rooms though with a sink in, I don’t find them much dirtier than the female toilets, but I have a feeling it’s because I work primarily with females anyway, so they aren’t used by many men.

I don’t understand why they can’t leave male and female toilets as they are and then create some unisex ones for people who want to use them, then everyone is happy.

highame · 22/02/2022 13:34

That's exactly what they could do Elsie if they considered women

I've totally missed this. What was FWR? And how is it more 'segregated' now? (sorry for ignorant questions; clearly I didn't pay enough attention/come on these subjects threads enough).
IntermittentParps · 22/02/2022 13:36

I think women will start protesting by not going to the theatre (and, as a pp says, not organising for their households to go to the theatre). Which might just make them take notice.
