Lammy… again!

Apparently an adult male can get a cervix through hormones and surgery!

Who knew?

I’m equally embarrassed for him and bloody livid that this moron is in government.

The Times covered Lammy's demand that city lawyers will be forced to offer 35 hours free legal services each to help reverse record low rape convictions. The comments are full of actual city lawyers pointing out that their lack of professional expertise in dealing with rape cases could be harmful for rape victims:
As a City lawyer, I'm very much in favour of mandatory pro bono work. I help a number of charities on matters where I am competent to do so.
But I would do more harm than good if I was put in charge of a criminal rape case. In fact, probably the only person likely to do more harm than me would be Mr Lammy

Nice to see lawyers with an appreciation of boundaries and professional respect for the expertise of others - so unlike some of the fly by lawyers we see on here Wink

He's absolutely right - all you need to do is fill a little flower pot with soil, put it in a sunny location, water it with oestrogen and unicorn poo, and soon you will have a lovely little cervix of your own!

andyoldlabour · 29/09/2021 11:51

Wow, Lammy said on that interview that one in four transpeople COMMIT suicide, not attempt, but COMMIT.
That guy has zero credibility, these idiots are making the Labour party a laughing stock.

EdgeOfACoin · 29/09/2021 11:54

@Joystir59

When you think of the role a real cervix plays in the protection of the foetus and the birth of a baby, it's such an insult to pretend that men can get one made.
Exactly.

Did he really I was listening thought bad enough he said 1 in 4 considered it but had just woke up. The daily mail (sorry) summed it up

It's remarkable how much power this apparently powerless community actually wields: across social media, in schools and universities, in our institutions and policies. With the possible exception of the climate change lobby, I'd say there are now few causes that hold more sway, culturally or politically.

To me, that's not marginalisation and abuse; that is, as they say in the corridors of Whitehall, 'uber cut-through'. Indeed, the issue certainly had cut-through at the Labour conference, far more so than any actual policies.

Grin This is why I like this forum so much.

Cripes that was some anger from the lady dinasour

I identify as a feminist he said. While talking right over a woman interviewer

He was angry.

andyoldlabour · 29/09/2021 12:03

Akire

100% he said it at 3:10 on.

andyoldlabour · 29/09/2021 12:06

"He was angry"

But a woman was questioning him, he who was a descendent of enslaved people, so nobody can lecture him about rights.
He is a complete and utter tool.

Lammysaurus · 29/09/2021 12:06

Transplanted cervixes ARE cervixes!!

(It's true; I googled it: www.minitube.com/catalog/en/artificial-cervix-p991/)

PankhurstConnection · 29/09/2021 12:08

@Doglicks

I went to school with him. He peddles this "born and brought up on the mean streets of Tottenham" nonsense, but he was actually a full boarder at The Kings Cathedral School in Peterborough, and was a chorister in the Cathedral choir. I have a cassette tape of him singing "Old Father Time" in a high soprano solo, from a school play in 1985. Barely went home apart from 3 times a year for 7 years. Then off to Oxford and then Harvard. When exactly was he down living the rough life in the ghetto, that he bases his politics on?

(Sorry that was just an aside from your thread) :-)

Don't be sorry. I found your aside very informative if not very surprising that yet another politician is basing their career on lies upon lies.
littlbrowndog · 29/09/2021 12:09

I thought shit wouldn’t want to get on wrong side of you

So angry

Only questions he approved off would be answered

A radger there.

PurgatoryOfPotholes · 29/09/2021 12:11

After you've watched that one, listen to him on Radio 4 this morning. The discussion of dinosaurs begins at timestamp 2 hours 20 minutes.

You get lots of gold stars for making me laugh in the midst of despair. I love the women on this site. Star Star Star

How interesting. I knew about Oxford and Harvard but always assumed that he’d struggled into those places from the mean streets and his having had to work four times as hard in a candlelit one room flat explained why he hadn’t had time to absorb more mundane facts like who succeeded Henry VIII and how a pope is chosen. And biology.
DeclineandFall · 29/09/2021 12:17

Why on earth has the Labour Party not given all their politicians a line to use when this issue comes up. Its not difficult to find some way of getting them to say something whilst saying nothing dealing with this. It's like they really do believe its a niche issue, and the angry ladeez will go away. That they are so out of touch with the reality on the ground, is more worrying.

SapphosRock · 29/09/2021 12:18

Oh dear. I can't believe it didn't even occur to him that some females born with cervixes grow up to identify as men.

I could draft a better statement that would keep the trans activists off the party's back without alienating the general public and I'm supposed to be on the other side!
Cailleach1 · 29/09/2021 12:28

Oh, gosh. The interviews could be asking him (presuming here) about important issues. Not about women. Actually he dodges women and goes straight to 'what about trans'.

Hah? Imagine a current affairs programme raising this deplorable onslaught against women's safety, dignity and fairness when important topics could be discussed instead!

I imagine his wife must be delighted to know how much attention he was paying while she gave birth to their 3 children.

"It's probably the case that trans women don't have ovaries ... but a cervix, I understand, is something that you can have, following, er ... various procedures and hormone treatment and all the rest of it"

For some reason the serious way in which he delivered this expert biological explanation really tickled me Grin

Jaysmith71 · 29/09/2021 12:39

"It's probably the case that trans women don't have ovaries..."

It's probably the case that David Lammy has a brain, somewhere.

Cailleach1 · 29/09/2021 12:39

I wonder if Lammy would be satisfied if a substantial number of bodies in the Commons id'd as black men. Job done. If Theresa May did, then there'd even have been a PM!

If he says he believes transubstantiation in one 'identity', he would be hypocritical not to say he believes and accepts the other.

Staffy1 · 29/09/2021 12:41

I think Lammy is one of those people that just tries to wind up as many people as possible and hates everyone.
