Ocado boycott after support of Primesight actionhttp://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/womens_rights/3376466-ocado-boycott-after-support-of-primesight-action

Following on from my previous thread that became full Smile

I'll be making my first Waitrose order today, or maybe going back to Tesco. Will definitely give Waitrose a go though and have placed a Christmas order already.

Can you give a summary of the current state of play OP? I haven't followed the thread for a couple of days. They were making private phone calls to apologise - did the callers all get peak transed?

Redkeyboard · 29/09/2018 07:43

Have they responded to requests for a public retraction if their ridiculous statement yet?

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 29/09/2018 07:46

I know it not quite as good as you lot with your 70K lifetime spends, but I am another one who had been thinking of using Ocado (dh does the supermarket shop because he drives and I don't but he has loads to do and keeps forgetting things) and now won't be.

You can't make a public anti woman statement and then expect to get away with private apologies but no public one ffs.
If it was a rogue tweeter, fine, we understand that, so say so in public.
Otherwise it will remain on public record that Ocado thinks 'adult human female' is an offensive term, and I am not spending a penny with a company that says that.

PerverseConverse · 29/09/2018 07:50

Oh gosh, I'm not sure as didn't read all the last hundred or so replies.

•I think there were around 91 posters who cancelled their orders or smart passes at 2/3s of the way through the thread according to one poster who'd counted.
•There would be many more lurkers who had also cancelled.
•Some lurkers came out of the woodwork to post for the first time to say they'd cancelled
•Ocado have emailed some or phoned some but no decent apology and didn't seem to care very much. I've not been contacted.
•No statement made by management
• Many posters now using Waitrose and Sainsbury's
• Some posters are now using local organic providers and high street butchers and shops
• There is also a sister post in AIBU after MNHQ advised I start a thread there. There were a couple of posters who agreed the poster was wrong but the majority agreed with us and many have cancelled their orders and smart passes as a result as was the first they knew of this.
• Trustpilot reviews have not been responded too unless you're a man complaint about paper thin ham and mushy apples. All the women were ignored.
• I don't do twitter but this is being talked about over there
• Facebook reviews have been left telling the public that Ocado don't recognise women as adult human females and that the word woman is deemed by them to be transphobic and hate speech

Molokonono · 29/09/2018 07:50

Yay.

No response for me since I sent them a lowdown on their discrimination policy being illegal and requesting a written response.

RepealtheGRA · 29/09/2018 08:18

Has the press picked up yet?

ArrivisteRevolt · 29/09/2018 08:19

Ocado have gone mad.

Why has this not been picked up by the press? They love a PR disaster.

PerverseConverse · 29/09/2018 08:21

It's on Reddit https://amp.reddit.com/r/GenderCritical/comments/9iu6q3/womannounnadultwithhapenissthatfeelsslike_a/

Hope the press do pick it up

RepealtheGRA · 29/09/2018 08:22

Presidents club, sexual harassment by delivery drivers, insults their customer base, don’t know what the actual LAW is with regards to the Equalities Act. Why aren’t the press all over this? Who does Ocado have pictures of?

BlackeyedSusan · 29/09/2018 08:25

One poster consulted the equalities lot (on phone/pre coffee can't find the post, will look when D's has finished bed wars) and there Seems a chance that the replies to male names get a response but not the female names may be discrimination that is actionable.

Someone who is awake can put that into plain English!

Frankenterfer · 29/09/2018 08:27

Thanks for starting your thread OP as I would have missed this incident. I have cancelled my smart pass, and told them why!

PenguindreamsofDraco · 29/09/2018 08:29

Has anyone had an email or phone call or live chat with anyone with a male name? Obviously words on a screen etc but I'm wondering if this is a deliberate policy. To the extent they have a policy other than just hoping it all goes away.
I placed my first Waitrose order this morning. The app was crap, it was far harder to manage than Ocado, which I loved. I appreciate I'm not exactly in throwing myself under a horse territory here mind you Grin

MistressFunbox · 29/09/2018 08:30

Right I've asked them to remove all my data. I've only used them rarely, I live too close to a real supermarket to have deliveries. I wanted to show solidarity.

tutu112 · 29/09/2018 08:30

Any recent Facebook reviews don't seem to be there now. Anyone else noticed this?

sashh · 29/09/2018 08:40

Just wish the Waitrose website wasn’t so clunky compared to th Ocado app! Someone mentioned a Waitrose app but I couldn’t find it - does it exist?

I use 'my supermarket.com', you shop as normal but the web page gives you the option to send your shop to which ever supermarket you choose, it also shows prices at Aldi and Lidl.

So I can choose my supermarket and the interface is always the same.

BlackeyedSusan

Yep that's me.

Have sent a reply including screenshot of the previous thread, my tweets asking why they are ignoring women, my email to the CEO that was ignored.

The standard email that includes every protected characteristic but not sex and my reply to that telling them.

If anyone want to DM me I can add your email addresses or any other information you feel relevant.

I'm not going to put the case number on here because it is public and easy searched but I'm happy to give it to MNHQ so it can be passed on to anyone who has been here a while.

MajesticWhine · 29/09/2018 08:43

Thanks for 2nd thread. I am late to this but I am cancelling. It pains me. I spend £150 per week and have a smart pass. I am looking into other options.

CaptainKirkssparetupee · 29/09/2018 08:44

There are other review sites too.

CaptainKirkssparetupee · 29/09/2018 08:46

sashh
That's brilliant, I wouldn't know where to start.

tinabloodysparkle · 29/09/2018 08:48

Following to see updates on the Ocado situation. Have done a real-life shop - it was painful but we got Lego cards 👍🏻

BlackeyedSusan · 29/09/2018 08:51

Thanks sashh. Great work.

Captain Kirk, are there any comments on other review sites?

PerverseConverse · 29/09/2018 08:52

I'd love to know how many people have actually cancelled.

BirdseyesFrozen · 29/09/2018 08:56

Morning all.
I've discovered re the MRA responses on Trustpilot that you can report them to Trustpilot as not genuine posts.
Under the MRA "review" posted on Trustpilot, there is a little flag button, where you can report and say why it is a phoney review. hth Smile

CaptainKirkssparetupee · 29/09/2018 08:56

There are a couple on review.io www.reviews.io/company-reviews/store/ocado

But nothing like the 5 pages on trust pilot.

CaptainKirkssparetupee · 29/09/2018 08:58

Leave it, it's very telling with the patronising 'girls'.
I though it might have been from the company.
