Ocado boycott after support of Primesight actionhttp://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/womens_rights/3376466-ocado-boycott-after-support-of-primesight-action

Following on from my previous thread that became full Smile

I'll be making my first Waitrose order today, or maybe going back to Tesco. Will definitely give Waitrose a go though and have placed a Christmas order already.

Local traders have done well out of me today.
I came into town where Riverford Organics had a stall, with a big promotion about cutting plastic waste, so I reactivated my account with them, and was given a lovely free cookery book for doing so.
Then I discovered the butchers nearby do a home delivery service, so that's the meat sorted.
Our local farm shop sells fish and I'll stock up the freezer.
DH can pick up anything else we need like loo paper from Aldi now and again.
That's the divorce from woman-hating Ocado finalised.

Mumminmum · 29/09/2018 16:29

I couldn't write anything on trustpilot today. Funny that.

PerverseConverse · 29/09/2018 16:38

I've just done a Waitrose shop but didn't like the app. Took me ages and doesn't have all the products on there that I can get in store. I had a £20 off code though so used them for that plus could get delivery in less than 24 hours. I'll be going back to Tesco from now on.

Is this Ocado’s Gerald Ratner moment...

Meet0nTheIedge · 29/09/2018 16:43

Cold - we have been using Riverford for years, their Christmas service is brilliant, everything delivered for free on Christmas Eve and no need to be in for it.

Mumminmum · 29/09/2018 16:50

I don't use Ocado, but this thread has inspired me to put up some more stickers and to tape two information leaflets on the walls at the local public toilet. Thanks.

ConfessionsOfTeenageDramaQueen · 29/09/2018 16:50

Ugh I am so so reliant on Ocado - but TRAs trying to erase women is a hill I'm prepared to die on so I'll have to cancel my SmartPass. Fucking Ocado.

I'll be contacting them in hard copy (letter to head office) as that usually gets a better response than email but I'm not holding my breath on this.

Fuck.

PetraDelphiki · 29/09/2018 16:51

Canceled here!

Ali1cedowntherabbithole · 29/09/2018 17:00

I have gone down the route of cancelling the next 2 weeks orders and have emailed to explain why. I will repeat this every week until a) Ocado apologise publicly or b) my next smart pass payment is due, when I shall obviously cancel the thing.

Bought chicken Dijon in Cook for a lazy tea tonight and have realised that by doing my basics shop in Aldi I will save £ which I can then spend on nice things in Waitrose & cook. Win-win.

ConfessionsOfTeenageDramaQueen · 29/09/2018 17:21

Did a quick search on Twitter and it looks like Ocado have deleted the Tweet re: Primesight? Can anyone confirm?

Molokonono · 29/09/2018 17:22

Yes they deleted it on Wednesday/Thursday.

Scarecrows · 29/09/2018 17:25

I’m a long time lurker who has gravitated more and more to the FWR over the last 6mths. The FT women in business fiasco was a final straw for me and this coming soon after.....I’m so done. So first time poster on FWR Smile and ready for action.

I have spent years and years and years with ocado spending easily 100pw. I am scared to find out the total spend. I’ve called and cancelled and never again from me too. My first Waitrose order comes tomorrow and it’s free delivery! Ok the app will take a bit to get used to but I’ll cope.....

Juells · 29/09/2018 18:27

I do wish there was a cure for stupid.

They won't be signing up, it's just posturing and empty words to show how woke they are.

Runningintothesunset · 29/09/2018 18:42

Unlurking here to say I cancelled by email yesterday and had an email reply to ask was I sure. I gave them short shrift in return and had my phone call ‘apology’ today. She said it was a rogue but well intentioned tweet Hmm blah blah blah. I asked were they going to make a public apology as the tweet had been so public. She said no as it wasn’t ocado’s place to get involved. She asked did I want to pass on any requests to management and I said I wanted a public rethink and statement.

CaptainKirkssparetupee · 29/09/2018 18:48

it wasn’t ocado’s place to get involved

Bit late for that.....

GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 29/09/2018 18:50

I had actually only recently started using Ocado after a few mishaps from Sainsbury's, but I shall go back to Sainsbury's now, plus a few more trips to the local butchers and weekly market.

StealthNinjaMum · 29/09/2018 20:08

PerverseConverse I wanted to thank you for bringing this to everyone's attention. I was on the last thread a lot. It's annoying that I have to boycott a company that I like but hopefully other organisations are taking note before they offend women.

I just hope the press pick up on this as Ocado don't seem to care about 100+ mumsnetters leaving.

CaptainKirkssparetupee · 29/09/2018 20:16

I just hope the press pick up on this

They probably won't as it is it's confined to more or less on trustpilot page and here,
Maybe we should leave shining reviews for whichever supermarkets we have switched to with also mention why you've switch from ocardo, it'll widen things up a little?

jgrobinson · 29/09/2018 20:24

They tried to ring me but didn't get through. I will tell them that I will only return to Ocado if they (i) force PrimeSight to reinstate the entirely legal and inoffensive billboard, or (ii) stop doing business with PrimeSite.

hairbearbitch · 29/09/2018 21:52

Remember when Ocado Annie used to pop up on here all the time to answer Ocado related questions? Wonder where he/she is now?

TrumpsToddlerTantrums · 29/09/2018 22:57

I think it's important to stress to Ocado that the reason we're boycotting is because of this issue rather than any problems with the service. They (and any other companies that may have a female customer base) need to be aware that we're prepared to sacrifice convenience and good service for a principal. I bet they're sitting back expecting us to be back by Xmas. Ain't happening here, Ocado. I took umbrage with Tesco in 2008 and haven't set foot in one since.

BlackeyedSusan · 29/09/2018 23:58

I have a decade of boycotting argos, I do hold a grudge.

redshoeblueshoe · 30/09/2018 00:04

I think I win.
I took umbridge with the NatWest in 1978
And I've never been back. Grin

InWomensProtection · 30/09/2018 00:05

Just wanted to say that misguided on twitter think it amusing we boycotting Ocardo.

They don’t believe mumsnetters have any impact on these companies. I’m sure that luxury hotel spa? would beg to differ when they was going to be stampeded by lots of angry protesters

redshoeblueshoe · 30/09/2018 00:05

I might have to have that post deleted. I cannot be that old
