Women from the North who are working class are aggressive! Is this parody?

Ekphrasis · 30/08/2018 14:00

Spat my tea out at the Northern reference...

Being northern is a wide spectrum, a shifting constellation of shortened vowels and extra consonants whereby those transitioning from Manc to Geordie need complete dialect reassignment.

BraveAndStunning · 30/08/2018 14:01

Clear link between the author and Ruth Pearce, whose position is clear

Ruth Pearce @notrightruth is a colleague of Sally Hines who is a female pro trans academic who has spoken out against gender critical women and supported no platforming.

MaisyPops · 30/08/2018 14:03

Hang on, so they give a rubbish definition of being a woman based on stereotypes but then say 'but not all women will follow this'.
Then they do the same for men.

Here are the definitions, but people don't actually have to follow them to be a man/woman?!

Is this an open acknowledgement that someone is a woman/man just because they say so?

(And as an aside, this really upsets me as the trans folk who experience dysphoria are probably going to be told their dysphoria isn't real because you can be a woman with a biologically male body in every respect. It risks dismissing their experiences in preference of spme pseudo psychological babble instead of genuine people who seek support for their dysphoria).

Ereshkigal · 30/08/2018 14:03

Both at University of Leeds (W Yorks connection)?

Helmetbymidnight · 30/08/2018 14:05

And on the FB page they've got The Children's Society report where it says "gender stereotypes and worries about looks were contributing to unhappiness" and then they publish this shite.

Unbelievable. What the fuck is the matter with them?

R0wantrees · 30/08/2018 14:06

Dr Meg-John Barker and Sally Hines were both signatories to the open letter by academics supporting Nic Shall who was facing disciplinary charges by Bristol University.

There's also a few links between Jess Bradley & Sally Hines which were discussed in one of the recent threads.

BraveAndStunning · 30/08/2018 14:07

Two minutes on this person's twitter account and the agenda is clear. What's amusing is that they deny the existence of autogynephillia and then post papers which propose that women can experience AGP as much as transgenderwomen do. And other stuff. Got bored rather quickly though

R0wantrees · 30/08/2018 14:07

Sorry should have said I think there are a few links between Jess Bradley & Sally Hines which were discussed etc

Doyenne · 30/08/2018 14:08

Too too angry to come up with a coherent comment Angry Sad

VickyEadie · 30/08/2018 14:09

Having gone away from this for a while, I'm still astonished that a person can produce a document - apparently on behalf of a professional body - which suggests a clitoris is the same as a penis (just a different size).

That's unbelievably WRONG.

I know my trainee counsellor friends - and there are several of them - will lap this all up.
Sigh.

anywhichwaybuttruth · 30/08/2018 14:16

I'm a trainee counsellor and I'm not lapping this up.

I won't be using this advice in my practice.

VickyEadie · 30/08/2018 14:17

I said recently that we've never known more about science, it's never been easier to find facts and the truth - and there's never been a time in my lifetime (and I was born in the 50s) when more shit was being promulgated and accepted as fact.

Datun · 30/08/2018 14:18

I honestly can't see anyone agreeing with the clitoris/penis nonsense.

Seriously.

VickyEadie · 30/08/2018 14:21

I honestly can't see anyone agreeing with the clitoris/penis nonsense.

One of our regular trans-advocates on here (no name as MN don't like that sort of thing) recently claimed that girls given testosterone develop a "micro-penis". I think quite a few people believe a clitoris is just a smaller penis.

Iused2BanOptimist · 30/08/2018 14:21

Well they seem to have succeeded in insulting just about anyone it is possible to attach a label to.

IAmLurkacus · 30/08/2018 14:27

So to clarify, next time my weak pelvic floor is letting me down and I can’t locate a loo I can in fact piss up a wall using my clit? Why has no one told me this before Confused

HotRocker · 30/08/2018 14:36

R0wan, wow, that’s probably all of us then, we’re all trans.

LadybirdsAreBirds · 30/08/2018 14:38

Vicky

A yes. I remember it well. A classic

Oh God oh God oh God oh God.

Sorry. I've only just seen this utter pish and can't come up with a coherent paragraph on the subject. I guess I have that much in common with the 'guidelines'. Utter piffle.
