I honestly can't see anyone agreeing with the clitoris/penis nonsense.

I had the usual tra wander into my mentions yesterday with "some female animals have a penis" when I asked if he meant the "PSUEDO penis" phenomenon he insisted it was a penis.

I didn't even bother to explain that an enlarged clitoris on a female animal does not a penis make.

Nothing surprises me anymore when it comes to what they'll say to validate their shite

gendercritter · 30/08/2018 15:48

I think this is pretty serious stuff in amongst all the laughing at how ridiculous it is (I know no one here is minimising it, but are just incredulous this has been written)

I have spent the last 2 decades moving in and out of having counselling to get help with trauma. I have always turned to BACP to find someone I trust. I've moved around a fair bit. I have always had confidence in BACP counsellors, although naturally some are better than others. I've even signposted other vulnerable friends their way when they've said they need help.

I do not trust BACP after this. Absolutely no way. They have made themselves a laughing stock. The document is unscientific and offensive and demonstrates skewed judgement. It indirectly harms vulnerable people. Where will I turn if I need to find a new counsellor in the next few years? No clue. That is a big issue. They have badly damaged their own brand.

gender

Yes. I knew of know other register to guide people into finding a qualified practitioners. It' can't be overstated how bad it is.

Except I've just looked and there's also the UKCP (psychotherapists)

and the Directory of Chartered Psychologists (including Clinical and Counselling psychologists). Worth checking out their stance on sex and gender

kesstrel · 30/08/2018 15:53

They have just said they have heard about complaints and have/will be revisiting the content

thanks kesstrel

The section on Ethical practice is an interesting read...

LadybirdsAreBirds · 30/08/2018 15:57

.... and that apology is mealy mouthed. It's not about offence. It's about material reality. It's about what agenda the people you employ to write your guidelines are pushing

Us northerners have been silenced.

VickyEadie · 30/08/2018 16:16

Us northerners have been silenced.

You must have barmcakes to bake, clinkers to riddle and pots to side, surely?

LadybirdsAreBirds · 30/08/2018 16:17

hahaha so they are scared of Northern Women because of their alleged aggressive behaviour. The rest of us non-men....

VickyEadie · 30/08/2018 16:18

I suggest others email them and point out (if you haven't done so already) the bollocks scattered like confetti throughout the 'document'.

ErrolTheDragon · 30/08/2018 16:30

Ah, the northern women are now 'some contexts...'

That 'epitome of femininity' thing... wtf does a bunch of stereotypes of 'femininity' have to do with womanhood?

I'm getting more and more northern all the time over this one.

littlbrowndog · 30/08/2018 16:32

Nopes gotta get out rabbiting wit ferrets and terriers

💪

VickyEadie · 30/08/2018 16:33

I'm getting more and more northern all the time over this one.

Me too - I'm feeling excessively Northern about the whole thing.

I do hope you're not neglecting your racing pigeons...

littlbrowndog · 30/08/2018 16:39

Pigeons out and about wit lad

VickyEadie · 30/08/2018 16:41

Pigeons out and about wit lad

Giving you ample time to donkey-stone your front step, then.

gendercritter · 30/08/2018 16:46

Ah great there is a way to complain. I will be doing so.

FermatsTheorem · 30/08/2018 17:04

By 'eck, petal, if ah put a pink collar on me ferret, will it compensate for me being aggressive? And what the feck do ah do about me PhD in a mathsy-sciency subject and all the rational thought bollocks that went into getting that? Can ah compensate with white stilettos and a lambrini with a cherry on a stick?

bluescreen · 30/08/2018 21:33

What utter unmitigated bollocks.

On a really simple level I have never understood how they expect to resolve gender dysphoria (I mean dissatisfaction with shitty societal gender roles) with increased gender stereotyping.

This whole thing is bollocks of course and I’m obviously a bloke according to them (though my grandmother was from God’s own county and I’m probably way along the spectrum myself) but this simple basic paradox has always confused me.

Still WTAF-fing at clitoris=little penis (which I suspect is a reference to Dix Poppas and his evil works, and more outrageous appropriation of intersex experience) and all the other shocking ignorant insulting bollocks in there.

Or maybe their cunning plan is to increase gender dysphoria? Shock

OlennasWimple · 30/08/2018 21:58

I've just realised that "Meg-John" is a first name, not surname - so a non-binary name created by hyphenating a female and a male name together Confused

Meg-John is also a UKCP accredited psychotherapist specializing in sex therapy and relationship counseling

WTF is "sex therapy"?

ErrolTheDragon · 30/08/2018 23:08

I couldn't help wondering if Meg-John is (are?Confused) a massive Louisa M Alcott fan, given that they've named themselves after one of her couples

Datun · 30/08/2018 23:15

Meg-John is also a UKCP accredited psychotherapist specializing in sex therapy and relationship counseling

Course they are.

Apileofballyhoo · 30/08/2018 23:18

Concerned with appearance? I can't think of anything that makes me a woman other than being a full grown female human. What a crock.
