Graham Linehan Appreciation Thread

Just want to register my appreciation of his support of women.

He takes shit from TRAs day after day and his threads are brilliant. I know and he knows and acknowledges that women get far more abuse than he or any other man does for posting gender critical opinions and I thank him for acknowledging this fact too. A great man.

Thanks Graham. And Father Ted never stops being genius.

God I love Graham - nails it yet again:

A word I keep hearing from one trans activist to describe Debbie and Fionne is ‘bootlickers’. That tells you so much about who the loudest and nastiest trans activists are: incels in rainbow jumpers

I thought it might be a good time to bump this thread. I didn't comment on it the first time around, though I meant to. I am so appreciative of Graham's willingness to speak up for women and to elevate the voices of women speaking up for themselves and all of us. He is a true ally and I am so sorry that because of that he's been targeted.

Thank you, Graham. It means a lot.

TallulahWaitingInTheRain · 06/10/2018 16:46

Flowers and ever so much appreciation from me

NotTerfNorCis · 06/10/2018 16:47

Thanks Graham for getting in so deep for what you believe in. Thanks for speaking up. Flowers

Glad this was bumped.

So thankful to Graham for all the support he has given women in Ireland and the UK. You don't have to do any of this but I am really grateful that you do.

I love Father Ted so much and so glad that the person who wrote it is just as fab.

I think of you in the same way as David Attenborough - I am so glad that men like you exist.

All the best for your recovery to full health Graham!

BesmirchingMotherhood · 06/10/2018 17:20

Glinner, thanks so much for everything. For speaking up for women, and for Father Ted which was my therapy whilst going through a particularly difficult time. 🐄

thatdamnwoman · 06/10/2018 17:55

I read that as capitulation from Shayden.

Time for Glinner to be the one issuing the petition. I've got my wallet out.

Threewheeler1 · 06/10/2018 17:57

Love him.
He's clever, funny, irreverent and a welcome oasis in a minefield of woke tosspots.
Keep going Graham and thank you Star
And, if you get a chance, more 'Motherland' please! It's fucking brilliant.

Destinysdaughter · 06/10/2018 18:10

I love him so much. In fact I feel absurdly grateful to any man who supports us in this, like James Kirkup etc. Is it because I know that they don’t have to, or is it my female socialisation wanting a male protector or white knight to come to our rescue? I don’t know but I really do appreciate all the men that are talking about this.

And all the bloody women who have really put their necks on the line over this, they are so inspiring to me and help me be more brave every day!

kesstrel · 06/10/2018 18:14

I've been reading his tweets every day for weeks now, and admire him so much. I hope he's able to be back on twitter soon.

hipsterfun · 06/10/2018 18:16

Up with this sort of thing!

AbsintheFriends · 06/10/2018 18:19

Just reading about what Graham Linehan is going through makes me feel a bit sick and shaky with anger. I can only imagine what it must be like for him right now.

Another one with my credit card at the ready if required. And sending heartfelt thanks and admiration.

Destinysdaughter · 06/10/2018 18:30

Last thing I read on Twitter was that he is leaving for the time being because of what’s happened to him and his family recently. So sad. Does anyone know if this is still the case?

SPOFS · 06/10/2018 18:33

David Baddiel is currently defending Graham, and being slagged off by LOJ for doing so...

Threewheeler1 · 06/10/2018 18:43

Ugh LOJ. He's like a rat, only ever a few metres away.

OhYeahYeah · 06/10/2018 18:44

A truthful man.Flowers

Oh Three that is so true and so beautifully put! Grin

Destinysdaughter · 06/10/2018 18:48

I think when men talk about this issue, they’re so gobsmacked by the abuse they get that it radicalises them pretty quickly. Either that or they step away from the debate pretty sharpish.. I’m not a fan of Baddiel but I do know he’s a v intelligent guy.

Bowlofbabelfish · 06/10/2018 19:09

Graham; for Father Ted alone I’d have you knighted.

You don’t have to do any of this, and it’s costing you personally. You’re a truly decent human being. Thank you.

Perhaps a new sitcom is in order? The recent future, the gulag, where the unwoke are sent.

Bowlofbabelfish · 06/10/2018 19:13

Is it because I know that they don’t have to, or is it my female socialisation wanting a male protector or white knight to come to our rescue?

I think for me it’s that all this can seem overwhelming. Potus openly assaults women. Kavanaugh sails into the Supreme Court. It takes Nobel prizes to recognise the horrors of daesh, and rape as a weapon. From true horrors to small insults, it can feel overwhelming and you can lose your faith in humanity.

This sort of bloke is a light in the darkness. It shows you that there are good men. We need that.

AbsintheFriends · 06/10/2018 19:20

And also because it does take a special kind of courage and decency to risk so much in a fight that isn't directly 'yours'. So much easier to look the other way.

waterlego6064 · 06/10/2018 19:43

Thank you Graham. I'm sorry you have taken so much shit for this, but thank you so much. Brew Cake Wine Flowers

Ain’t nothin’ but the warm glow of solidarity.
