Graham Linehan Appreciation Thread

Just want to register my appreciation of his support of women.

He takes shit from TRAs day after day and his threads are brilliant. I know and he knows and acknowledges that women get far more abuse than he or any other man does for posting gender critical opinions and I thank him for acknowledging this fact too. A great man.

Thanks Graham. And Father Ted never stops being genius.

Just realised I somehow managed to leave out the G in Glinners and I have no idea how, but I’m now so utterly irritated it’s wrong!

Thanks for reading Graham. You are properly awesome.

BitOfFun · 27/08/2018 00:24

He has my utmost respect- we need more like him.

boatyardblues · 27/08/2018 00:25

Another one thanking Graham - a little ray of sunshine amidst this shit storm that is currently engulfing us

Same here. Thanks Graham.

And also fulsome thanks for Father Ted & The IT Crowd. Nothing lifts our family spirits like a singalong to My Lovely Horse in the car. Also, the small/far away thing gets regularly trotted out. Watching some Father Ted with my sons recently, its held up really well & hasn’t dated. We are eagerly anticipating the musical and I usually hate musicals (“down with that sort of thing!”)

Wishing you well with recovery from your recent health troubles too.

Melanippe · 27/08/2018 00:28

I’m not much of a one for giving the chaps cookies for being decent humans, but for this man I will make an exception. Thank you Graham for listening to women and doing what you can to amplify our voices. Thank you also for Father Ted, Dougal was one of the first things my autistic son found really funny and Jack taught him some interesting words to shout while we were shopping. Hope the chemo is going well, careful now.

TallulahWaitingInTheRain · 27/08/2018 00:30

Thanks Graham Smile

WaddIelikeapenguin · 27/08/2018 01:20

Thanks Graham I always think the really funny have real brains & you are good for my hypothesis 🍻

IncrediblySturdyPyjamas · 27/08/2018 01:27

I've thanked you loads of times direct on twitter Graham, but am happy to do so again on here.

When you are able to thank personally, the few men that are sticking up for women and girls, it shows just how far we still have to go.

Flowers Glinner.

TheLastMermaid · 27/08/2018 01:39

Down with this sort of thing, indeed.

We have fallen inside a black comedy in the current climate because it's all so beyond ridiculous, except it really isn't funny.

Thank goodness someone decent is publicly engaging with this, persistently and intelligently. Thank you Graham.

ContentiousOne · 27/08/2018 01:53

Also appreciate Glinner. Wish women's voices were enough. Sad and angry that they're not.

Coyoacan · 27/08/2018 06:12

Yeah Graham and yeah to all the brave and extremely articulate women who are arguing this cause.

CesiraAndEnrico · 27/08/2018 06:55

@Creepycaterpillar

I'm not allowed back on twitter after The Incident. I've promised DH & DS I won't take my impulsive arse back on there, and have the fall out spill out off the internet and into their real lives again.

So, can you pass this on. Dear Graham, I see you follow Andy from the Quackometer. He won't remember me, but about a decade ago he gently and persistently talked me away from the anti-vaxxers.

Can you let him know I am as grateful today as I was then. The little boy he talked me into vaccinating is now a strapping 18 yo, just signed to a pro sports team, as healthy and strong as an ox, and protected from as many diseases as I can stab him with vaccinations for.

Thank you Andy for being the brakes on my ADHD, so I could better protect the person I love the most in this world. He also says thank you. He is a trainee coach for junior sports teams as well as a player. He catches all sorts of lurgies from the teeny tinies. But isn't at anything like the same level of risk of catching potentially career & life changing/ending diseases from them, while following his passion.

On the days when it feels like you are banging your head against a brick wall, please remember there is a family this side of the alps who remain very, very grateful to you. And I am willing to bet that all over the world there are many others just like us.

PS Andy, I am not surprised you are one of the few of the old skeptical crowd willing to put your head up in the firing line over the TRA issue. Of everybody you seemed the least concerned with the high profile, and the most committed to the principle of protecting the more vulnerable from the shinanigins of those who would exploit, use, or trample them. Which IMO, is why it was you who penetrated and blew away my fear of vaccinations fog, and not anybody else. Flowers

ShackUp · 27/08/2018 07:00

Love you Glinner Star

I'm gutted I can't do Twitter (teacher - and bound to be discovered so I just stay away) but I'm another silent supporter Thanks

fidgetspinner555 · 27/08/2018 07:07

Oh yes, I want to thank you too Graham. Hope you read this - every single tweet matters. You really are one of the few men who not only gets the issue but actually does something about it. Are you sure you weren't born in the wrong body and you're actually woman? hahah (bad) joke.

MsMcWoodle · 27/08/2018 09:22

Thank you Graham.

Creepycaterpillar · 27/08/2018 09:31

@cesiraAndEnrico hopefully he will see your post on here. He knows about the thread, read it last night and I've sent him a message this morning telling him the thread is growing. I don't want to pester him but he's totally cool for names to get to him for unblocking on twitter.

RogerAllamsFangirl · 27/08/2018 09:32

Hey, Glinner. I so appreciate what you're doing on Twitter. I told DH all about it too.

Also, one of my last happy memories of me and my late sister is pissing ourselves laughing at Street Countdown. Thanks for that too.

JemAppelleLafayette · 27/08/2018 09:46

Glinner, the work you do on Twitter is top notch - thank you for your persistence in the face of the constant nonsense that comes your way.

I’ve always loved your comedy, and a few years ago you stuck up for the survivors of the Dunblane massacre when they had been maligned in the press. I’ve thought you were a great guy since then.

AncientLights · 27/08/2018 09:47

And thanks to Graham from me too. Not many men seem to get what this is about but you do.

littlbrowndog · 27/08/2018 09:50

Graham 🍺🍺

SeekEveryEveryKnownHidingPlace · 27/08/2018 09:56

Graham Linehan is an all round excellent human being. I'm really grateful for all his tweets, and the shit he takes for them is unbelievable.
Obviously he doesn't get threatened with rape and murder, but it must be fucking tiresome (DO YOU BELIEVE TRANSWOMEN ARE WOMEN SAY IT SAY IT SAY IT).

Thank you Graham - you're brilliant.

NotZenEnough · 27/08/2018 09:59

I follow GL on twitter and wouldn't have seen any of this if it hadn't been for his post. Huge thanks. My mind is blown.

terryleather · 27/08/2018 10:00

Yup Graham has been brilliant on Twitter whenever I venture on there and I still chuckle at this most excellent tweet...

Another massive thank you from an increasingly desperately worried, tired & exasperated woman.

He takes an unbelievable amount of proper shit from TAs, bearded woke bros & handmaidens, every single day.

💐💐💐

Alicethroughtheblackmirror · 27/08/2018 10:31

Brilliant human being. I was just grateful for "my lovely horse" and "down with this sort of thing", but to deal with the abuse on this while coping with illness makes him a proper superhero.

I daren't do Twatter so I wanted to say it here!

WarmWishes · 27/08/2018 10:33

Just adding my voice to the crowd! You are totally ace.
