I thought it was a good letter. Bit of a generational divide here, though, just as with biological women. Younger women who haven't had children seem far more likely to believe that anyone who wants a debate is a bigot transphobe. Younger trans people are impatient with the GRC process and the idea that struggling with gender means you have body dysphoria.

I was also just coming to post it. I'm so glad they have done this, they will get some shit thrown over them from some quarters but I'm sure they know that. This feels like a turning point. Why isn't there champagne on the smiley list?

That letter is fabulous. Short and to the point. Well done to the brave transwomen who signed it, and thank you.

It's great. As women, could we write something similar / a response ? That demonstrates respect for transsexuals as well as a clear need for open debate?

We've seen this distancing of transexuals vs transtrenders coming.
I know others seem to accept a two tier trans system, and truthfully I don't distinguish between the two groups, but I can acknowledge the courage it takes to put your name to a letter like that. And I have enormous respect for MY who has reasoned the whole process through with huge honesty and integrity.

As the signatories are male and trans their voices will no doubt be heard where women's have been ignored.

No female signatories though. It's so stark that this is about men wanting to dissolve women's boundaries and not the other way around.
