Some are suggesting it may be permanently. The silencing of women continues.

Does anyone know what Twitter's stated reason for this is?

Hopefully she will be back soon. Sometimes these types of bans are just for a few days...

TERFragetteCity · 23/03/2018 08:47

Twitter's back room is rammed full of TRAs/MRAs. They don't close down accounts with images of women being brutalised, but call a person with a cock a man - and you are gone.

Also, there is a group of TRAs that have formed who are doing mass reports of anything deemed 'fact based' that goes against the TRAs' ideology. You know, abortions are a women's issue, that sort of thing.

Be prepared for them picking off each vocal RadFem one by one.

HomeTerf · 23/03/2018 08:55

I find this so sinister.

How is it being allowed to happen? Why isn't it being picked up by the press? She's outspoken, yes, but she's hardly a crackpot extremist. And as far as I know she hasn't said anything that isn't true.

LangCleg · 23/03/2018 08:58

Her account appears to have the permanent suspension message so I think that account has been torpedoed for good. Hopefully, she will be back under a new account.

Trueheart1 · 23/03/2018 09:07

This is so frustrating. TRA's are so aggressive and well organised.

Hi! Twitter hasn't given me a reason ☹️
I'm crap at Mumsnet HELP! 🙏

💗💗💗

AssignedPuuurfectAtBirth · 23/03/2018 09:14

Mine is locked out unless I delete a tweet. But I'm not going to. I am not at fault for pointing out that sex cannot be changed

It is not suspended (yet) but I can't access it, although it is still available to view for everyone elses.

No doubt about it, Twitter is full on silencing women.

MsMcWoodle · 23/03/2018 09:17

Christ this is so sinister.

LanaKanesTerfyVagina · 23/03/2018 09:18

Oh ffs.

This makes me so very very fucking angry.

Hi DrRadfem!

Followed you on Twitter......can't fucking believe they've silenced you.

What a bunch of fascist cunts they are.

Don't like a fact?
Get the account deleted!

Would it work if all of us on Twatter bombarded them with complaints about this?
Or started publicising in the media how we are being silenced on it?

Any other ideas how we can fight this?

Nosetothesun · 23/03/2018 09:19

I think investigating how a relatively small number of accounts have been driving the narrative should definitely be deserving of investigation.

There seems to be a bigger picture

2rebecca · 23/03/2018 09:20

I think twitter is a poor medium for debate anyway. I only started using it recently to support Venice, the Man Friday thing and a Women's Place but there are an awful lot of angry nutters there and I doubt anyone changes anyone's opinion. It's an echo chamber. Is there somewhere better to go? Mumsnet is fine but very self selected.

Trueheart1 · 23/03/2018 09:23

DrRadfem, are you going to start a new Twitter account? Tell us the name and we can start spreading the news. Do not let the TRA's silence you.

OP posts:
Cuntysnark · 23/03/2018 09:25

I’m fucking furious but mostly horror struck. This is unreal.

TERFragetteCity · 23/03/2018 09:25

Or started publicising in the media how we are being silenced on it?

They would answer 'and yet you are here, not being silenced.'

Make no mistake - they have massive backing and are IT savvy. They erased the women murdered and replaced them with trans women murdered (Google it).

MissPiggysKarateChop · 23/03/2018 09:26

@AssignedPuuurfectAtBirth can I ask what it was you tweeted exactly? It's ok if you'd rather not say but I am telling people about this kind of silencing and they don't believe it is this bad or that these women must have tweeted something really offensive. I don't think that's true - I think it is a show of power and aggression by TRAs who are organised with nothing better to do than shut down women.

DrRadFem and AssignedPuuurfectAtBirth I'm so sorry you have been targeted like this, this silencing of women's voices is vindictive and mysogynistic.

Winewinewinegin · 23/03/2018 09:28

Do they not have to let you know why they have banned you?

OvaHere · 23/03/2018 09:28

Twitter has been doing this a lot of late and it's very sinister when it relates to political debate.

A lot of people were very happy when a lot of far right accounts were purged and I totally understand the gut reaction of good, they deserved it.

However you have to look at it from the bigger picture of a social media giant being arbiters of political discourse.

Do we really want the silicon valley types to control the narrative? Often in countries they are not even residents of.

AssignedPuuurfectAtBirth · 23/03/2018 09:35

Piggy I tweeted this video of Lila Perry. An 18 year old male wearing a miniskirt with clearly no underwear, in a school yard.

The abuse I received for it was unbelievable. Hundreds of abusive tweets. I have never blocked so many people before, TBH I had hardly blocked anyone before this. Apparently I am a paedo, pervert, etc. This is an adult male. Yet I am the one targetted for punishment.

The girls in this school objected to him in their changing rooms but their wishes were overlooked.

gendertrender.wordpress.com/2015/09/01/200-students-stage-walk-out-in-support-of-girls-rights/

This vid is on Youtube but I'm fairly certain that I copied it from MN. Lila Perry debacle was the thing that peaked transed me and I read about it on here a couple of years back

Just to add though - anything that gets the debate off Twitter and into the wider public eye isn't necessarily a totally bad thing. Man Friday seems to have shaken things up more than a 100 tweets have done.

Yes it's unfair to be silenced on social media but the reason so many TRAs favour it is that reality can be distorted behind fake profiles pics and lots of pink glitter.

Get the Heather Peto's of the world out into the glare of MSM to debate and the wheels start to come off.

AssignedPuuurfectAtBirth · 23/03/2018 09:36

I agree with this. I don't like Twitter, it seems like a medium for posting pithy sentiments rather than debate - that's not to say I haven't read some interesting things there but usually over the course of 5-10 tweets in a thread.

As to echo chambers, to some extent it seems unavoidable in this debate the two sides are so diametrically opposed it can get emotional and very nasty so each side tends to group together and bolster each other up (see the multitude of trans subreddits some of which are quite simply to validate existence). Many trans avoid gender critical areas as at some point they are unable to logically respond to the criticism and it devolves into cries of transphobia rather than debate. I've come to the conclusion that an echo chamber on this issue (for both sides) is inevitable.

Trueheart1 · 23/03/2018 09:38

DrRadfem I have sent you a private message.

AreYouTerfEnough · 23/03/2018 09:39

It’s been suggested that a fair few TRA’s are in IT so they have the knowledge and access to the systems that control web searches and sites. The manipulation appears to be serious and sustained.

MissPiggysKarateChop · 23/03/2018 09:40

AssignedPuuurfectAtBirth Yep, you see I don't think that is worthy of being banned - it is illustrating a point about the feelings and dignity of the girls in that school being dismissed. Its easy to get it banned though because of how he looks in the gif.

grandplans · 23/03/2018 09:42

Great to see you here @DrRadFem! I was trying to work out how to get a message to you, to invite you over here!
