Woke up yesterday to a nawing pain where my knickers sit on my right leg. Thought oh I'm just getting fat and need bigger knickers.

Today I woke up feeling like shit. I can barely move my leg. It's agongy I cannot walk to see this monsteristy. There is a larged raised redness around it. I cannot get to the GP i have a meeting in the morning I cannot miss.
I feel really shit, keep getting cold as well. I thought infected hair folicie but it looks worse. Would show the large red patch around it but I'm embarrassed enough showing this. Please help 😭

OP, it looks like a Bartholin's Cyst. (abcess).
It may need draining and definitely antibiotics. Best of luck, especially with what you've got tomorrow with your son. X

Eh? Bartholin's cysts are right in the unmentionables (not sure if officially vagina or vulva). I doubt she'd be posting a photo (!), if that's even possible.
This "just" looks like an infected boil on her bikini line.
Hopefully it can just be popped. Bartholin's need surgery if they form a barrier and can't be treated with antibiotics.

MoshpitAtMorrisons · 17/09/2026 18:55

My mother had this on her knicker line. She kept leaving it. it was incredibly infected, she was unwell for weeks. Needed draining, and packing etc. The root of the abscess was so deep!! This can be really scary, really quickly. Please look after yourself. You’d rather miss an assessment and rearrange and your children have a mum, than not have a mum atall. Thats not being dramatic, I work in medical field.

Nooo it's my binki line not my va-jayjay. I wouldn't of posted a photo of that 😂
Should be seen in the next twenty minutes so we will see what they say. Still feel quite cold and want to chop my leg off right now.

Abscess isn't gonna turn septic is it from now till 10.30am is it? I can't doing my meeting over my phone otherwise I would go. Ive just drawn around the red patch gonna monitor it for a hour. I feel so dead on my feet.

I've had sepsis. Keep a close eye on your temperature and bear in mind that your decision making can be impaired by that factor alone. Ask me how I know.

ETA just seen that you're at the walk in, that's great. Hope it goes well.

Be sure to stress to them that the pain is wide spread, that it isn't localised.

HansSolo22 · 17/09/2026 19:00

I had a sebaceous cyst that looked very similar to that on the back of my head. It was absolute agony and needed a small operation to drain it. The relief was immense. I could barely move my head /neck from the pain. You are doing the right thing getting it checked out by a medical professional. I hope you get it sorted and best of luck with the assessment.

Try posting it again. Again I'm so sorry for the vile photo.

No I can't get to a pharmacist i can't drive like this, I can't even walk 😭 any other day id take myself off to the walk in but i cannot miss this meeting in the morning ive been waiting years for it.

Looks lije an abcess, could be an infected follicle, either way it needs medical.attention

RampantIvy · 17/09/2026 19:01

I had an abscess in my knicker line several years ago. I needed antibiotics to treat it. I was off work for a week and lost half a stone because I felt so ill. You have done the right thing by seeking medical help. I hope you feel better soon 💐

Still waiting. The dcs dad is going mad saying i don't have a infection and being dramatic all because I asked him to sit with dc. Thankfully hes an ex. Like clearly its infected aghh.

The only embarrassing thing, here, is a grown man taking issue with looking after his own offspring.

Please don't let any pressure from him influence your decision on any medical treatment you are offered.

Justwantedtosayrightnow · 17/09/2026 19:17

Same happened to me needed antibiotics.

MrTiddlesTheCat · 17/09/2026 19:20

Nothing helpful to say, but blimey that looks sore.

WonderfulSmith · 17/09/2026 19:24

Best of luck op. These things will always happen at the worst times.

nunsflipflop · 17/09/2026 19:24

Not read the whole thread.
‘if you can to a pharmacist, you need magnesium sulphate and dressings to cover the area. Smother it on thickly and cover it. That should draw it out.

However if you are feeling really rotten you need a medical professional to look at it, and soon. Try 111 and see if they can book you into a walk in minor injury unit.

Lsquiggles · 17/09/2026 19:29

Ouch that looks painful! You poor thing I hope they can get some relief before your meeting tomorrow

Pinklightning · 17/09/2026 19:29

I’m so glad you have gone to get medical attention. That’s a beast and you need antibiotics asap. Ignore your ex. He’s being a twat. I had one like that and it’s such a relief he’s an ex. Get well soon and I hope the meeting can be postponed and that the end result is good for your son.

greentrailingivy · 17/09/2026 19:32

Fingers crossed you get seen and sorted out soon x

Sadwork · 17/09/2026 19:33

So glad you're being seen. Your ex sounds vile.

BerryTwister · 17/09/2026 19:37

Looks Like an abscess, needs antibiotics, not urgent though.

Infected abscess (or similar) - antibiotics and maybe the doctor will drain it. You’ll feel better in a day or two once you’ve seen the GP

Thehop · 17/09/2026 19:39

Poor you hope you feel much better soon OP

Bloodysquirellls · 17/09/2026 19:40

Weird story… pick yourself up an aloe plant on the way home. Cut the leaf off, strip the spiky edge down. Slice in half so it’s like a gel pad. Sellotape on and go to sleep. Replace every 12 hours. Don’t freak out when one day you wake to purple liquid everywhere!

Strangerthanfictions · 17/09/2026 19:49

My dad had an infection in his groin which turned out to be necrotising fascitis, he very nearly died and has been left with life changing injuries. I also had an infected cyst in my groin and went into septic shock and had urgent surgery rushed in from A&E. If you were my friend or family i would be dragging you up to the hospital and telling them to check for nec fas or sepsis, they sent my dad home initially as they didn't spot it despite his bloods showing (as we know now) that he was very seriously ill, when he went back a day later he was resuscitated and operated on right there in A&E with 3 surgeons for 6 hours. Please get this seen asap

LittlePaintBox · 17/09/2026 19:50

Some things have to take priority over important meetings, and this is one of them. I don't need to see a picture - from what you've said, you have a severe infection, and it needs treating immediately, or you could get very ill. If you can't get a GP appointment, ring up NHS 111 and they can advise you how to get treatment.

I hope you feel better soon. X

As you haven't posted for an hour, I gather you are being seen @deadembarrased I do hope so anyway! I hope it's sorted/fixed soon, and tomorrow you have no pain, and it's on the mend. Flowers

bettyrubble99 · 17/09/2026 19:56

My co-worker used to gets them all the time. She once had one no lie 3 knuckles wide on the inside of bum crack where her knickers had rubbed her on a flight home. She used to just put sudocrem on them & a large dressing and wait till they eventually popped. She said what comes out of them is disgusting. This one she couldn't sit down she had to sit sort of sideways.
Drs would give her antibiotics but whenever her seams rubbed her, it would happen again. She switched to wearing mens small boxers and it didn't happen again as the seams on them are much softer and didn't sit the same as womens knickers.
