Who SHOULD have been Sirius?

I was torn with putting this in film or books, but went with books because that is where the description was...

Was discussing with friends over the weekend that Gary Oldman (as good as he is) just doesn't have the appeal that we felt Sirius had in the book... I can't quite work out who I would have preferred though.

Suggestions?

Ooh I like the CE as Sirius post-Azkaban but not before - too clean cut methinks. I reckon he still had an edge to him, even when young and handsome.

agree CE is fab and wonderful actor but do not think he has the 'edge' needed for Sirius - not naughty boy enough.

No idea, Anna Friel was supposed to but then it was changed to someone I hadn't heard of so I didn't remember it

Christopher Ecclestone is hideous, no way could he be Sirius - Sirius was drop dead gorgeous when he was young, girls looked hopefully/ admiringly at him in exams. GO was never handsome, he's wrong. Am liking all the other suggestions made for him though, particularly Pruni's one and Johnny Depp. [Swoon]

I like the bloke who plays Peter, but when trying to cast Orlando Bloom, can only think of him as ... rat-like Peter.
