Well done for 2lb loss mrsjorah! Have a great holiday!

Lost 0.4lb this week but only put in a half arsed effort.

Focus for the week ahead is to get back into eating proper nutritious food, making use of my points sensibly instead of fucking around trying to wangle as many Doritos and wine as I can out of them!

SaveSomeSpendSome · 25/06/2016 19:26

Can someone help here please.

I joined WW on Thursday evening and it was a group with a temporary leader who in my mind was abit rubbish!

Im doing the SmartPoints system and it seems that as i like alot of brews during the day plus cereal in the morning its using up too many points.

8 points are being used on milk alone!

I have 37 for the day. Im finding that im starving despite eating lots of fruit and salad.

Im using my full daily allowance by 3pm in the afternoon.

After 6pm yesterday was terrible! I very nearly caved in and scoffed everything in my house! But i didnt! But by god i was really struggling to focus on anything due to the hunger!

I know there is a filling and healthy part and a no count part.

The reason why i chose the point system is because when i did slimming world the food was very repetitve and after 4 months i gave up.

The point system seemed better for me when reading about it as i like variety and im a lazy cook! Plus i wanted to learn about portion control and what a normal serving actually is.

Im wondering whats going to happen when my points reduce as i lose weight when im starving as it is!

KenDoddsDadsDog · 25/06/2016 20:45

What type of milk are you using ? The 1% or skimmed is really the only thing to use.
I switched away from cereal for breakfast - not filling enough and too many points . I have porridge made with water , splash of milk , cinammon and teaspoon of syrup . Or overnight oats - oats soaked in light and free yoghurt and fresh fruit overnight at 6 points . Measure your tea milk into a container and once it's gone it's gone - you'll use less .

KenDoddsDadsDog · 25/06/2016 20:47

It will be difficult to start with but fill up on fruit and veg and it will get easier . Bread , cereal , pasta are the big point busters unfortunately . Stick with us and you can do it Grin

SaveSomeSpendSome · 25/06/2016 21:15

Its skimmed milk.

I may look at other breakfast alternatives as i feel 8 points on milk alone is alot!

LMGTFY · 25/06/2016 21:38

Hi, I did the original points and that worked. Have tried to do pp several times and it was awful, does the new system work? There aren't any meetings I can go to round here unless I do a 40 mile round trip so would really have to rely on my non existent will power.

KenDoddsDadsDog · 25/06/2016 22:00

Smart points does work but it takes a lot of determination the first few weeks . Anything sugary has higher points so the cadburys mini bars of old for treats are right out of the window .
As a plus though , meat and fish are much lower in points so you can fill up . Honestly it's made me review my diet as a whole as see things as a real treat instead of lashing down a daily chocolate bar and not tasting it .
It's a lot more about slow and steady loss and changing habits which has suited me. I know a few people who have lost a lot quite fast on things like Cambridge but as I get chronic migraine not for me !

SlimCheesy2 · 27/06/2016 08:33

Good morning, may I join? I joined online WW today. I am 12 stone 7 pounds and ought to be about 9 stone 7. I feel awful.

I am planning to focus hard on fruit and veg. And have started a little bit of exercise..... did 20 mins walk this morning. I have a 30 point allowance.... does anyone know what that is supposed to mean in weightloss terms... is it 2 pounds a week?

Thanks!

bettybyebye · 27/06/2016 15:32

Hi all, sorry have been awol for a couple of weeks. I'm struggling a bit at the moment - have had lots of nights out and events recently and have fallen off the wagon somewhat and not been pointing. Positive news is that I haven't gained, but I haven't lost either and feel like I need to take some control back! Have binged a bit lately and realised that I don't like how my body feels when I have binged so not sure why I have been doing it? Pure greed I think?!

Welcome to all the newbies!
Slim - if you stick to your daily and weekly points allowance you should lose up to 2lbs a week. Don't forget you can earn extra fit points too!
Save - I started using smart points on the 10th Jan and I have to say the first couple of weeks I was HUNGRY! However I was so desperate and motivated to shift the weigh I stuck at it and my appetite definitely reduced and i felt a lot less hungry, and my points seemed to go further. Echo kens comment that cereal is not a good choice for breakfast. I find that it never fills me up and is high in points. Some breakfast ideas I use - toasted warbutons thin with cream cheese and smoked salmon (6sp), eggy bread made with 1 egg and 2 slices of Hovis wheat germ bread (5sp), or scrambled egg and 1 slice toast (4sp).
You will soon discover lower point alternatives.
LMGTFY - I have found smart points worked very well for me, 2st7lbs lost between mid Jan and 2nd June. Now a gold member but still trying to get a final half stone off. As above the first few weeks were tough but stick with as the results are good!

Sorry for essay!

SaveSomeSpendSome · 27/06/2016 15:46

I have definitely felt better now than i did the first 2 days!

Im only 4 days in and yesterday was finally the day i didnt feel really hungry even though i used all my points.

Im aiming for 2 pounds a week. In 44 weeks i will have shifted 6 stone 4 pounds

rosiecam · 27/06/2016 15:46

I have only just started (end of first week) but what has worked brilliantly for me this week has been more protein and olive oil, but moving away from carbs. So for breakfast I might have 2 eggs fried in 2 tsp olive oil with mushrooms and tomatoes. This is 7 points and I don't get hungry until lunchtime.

poorpaws · 28/06/2016 14:32

Just checking in after yet another massive fall from the wagon. I really have to get back and do this. Two birthdays next week with cake .

I think if chocolate, cake and biscuits didn't exist I could do this. 🙄

KenDoddsDadsDog · 28/06/2016 15:26

I'm really struggling at the moment . On gardening leave between jobs and I'm hungry all the time. Am in week 3 couch to 5 k but it won't hold the sneaky toast , cashew nuts and bowls of cereal at bay.

rosiecam · 28/06/2016 16:33

Oh no, sorry it did not go well for you. I lost 6.5 pounds this first week but I know a lot of it was water because I was bloated from eating real rubbish the days before I started. Also I had eaten before I weighed the first time and not today (went to 9.30 a.m. class).

Were you counting/weighing everything? What did your leader say?

rosiecam · 28/06/2016 16:36

Urgh sorry must have been looking at the last page when I wrote that. Where is the delete button Blush

Renata72 · 30/06/2016 10:45

Hi I'm starting again. Can i join in on ur thread plz? I used to be a gold member yrs ago. I keep joining online & giving up by the weekend. I signed up for 3 mths plan online. Still have about 2 MTH left so gonna try again. I'm 11st 1lb. I want to lose a stone then possibly another stone. All my weight is on my tummy. I walk loads but causes pain cos I've got arthritis in neck, lower back & feet. I'm just back from lanzarote 10 days ago. Gained 5lb but 2lb has come back off. With ww I lost 13lb in March but most of that back on. I'm going to try really hard xx

KenDoddsDadsDog · 30/06/2016 13:19

Hiya , welcome ! We're full of ups and downs on this thread it's kept me going . I have about half a stone to go after losing 2 but I cannot keep myself motivated at the moment .

poorpaws · 30/06/2016 23:18

Ken. I'm one of the downs! I check in here every night and have done for nearly six months but I'm still struggling. Ever hopeful I'll do it though 😀

Welcome Renata.

SlimCheesy2 · 01/07/2016 06:51

Well, first week done and I have stayed the same. BUT, last night I was out for dinner and ate loads.

Never mind.

12 stone 7.

SlimCheesy2 · 01/07/2016 06:52

Oh- today I will be at the gym and plan to do the stationary bike for 15 mins and a gentle swim for 15 mins. I have a very bad back and so am easing back in. :)

KenDoddsDadsDog · 01/07/2016 17:45

Have finished week 3 of C25K , come home and eaten a load of toast 🙃

SlimCheesy2 · 04/07/2016 11:10

I am really proud of myself because yesterday I did a 50 minute walk/run. About 1/3 of the time total was running but it was a start!

KenDoddsDadsDog · 04/07/2016 15:06

Topper SlimCheesy !!

HairsprayQueen · 19/07/2016 07:49

Fell off the thread (where is everyone?!) and actually even rang WW to cancel. Signed back up yesterday as I was all over the place without any focus and thought to myself 'why would I not want to do something that I could eat more or less what I wanted and was working'. It seemed obvious put like that.

So I'm back now and I'm only going to be positive from now on!

KenDoddsDadsDog · 19/07/2016 10:10

Hello , I was wondering where everyone was. Have gained 2lbs but am sticking to plan and now on week 6 of couch to 5k. Saw someone I haven't seen for ages yesterday and they were so surprised at my weight loss. Felt great Grin
