Thanks for the welcome back and well done on the losses. For the newbies, definitely eat your points including at least some weeklies, drink plenty of fluids and be totally honest about your portions. It's definitely worth tracking EVERYTHING especially the first few weeks.

I'm having my usual disastrous weekend of eating out and eating rubbish but I will try and claw things back during the week. Weekends are my downfall!

Yes in the beginning weigh every portion, don't estimate, use ww bread as a 'normal' slice of bread is twice the points. My weighing spoons were great.
I would recommend using things like laughing cow light instead of butter - better taste.
You'll soon realise what you thought was a portion isn't so - I was horrified by my pasta portions.

Thanks poorpaws Smile. Well done on the loss!

Ken yes to mad pasta portions. My old pasta portion was about 20 points worth - I wish I was exaggerating but I'm not! Now I give myself a 9 point portion and throw in some courgetti if I can be bothered! Pasta tonight, yum, trying not to go mad with the cheese.

Hello, newbie here! Can I join this thread? I haven't joined WW officially yet as I'm struggling to find a meeting time that works so I'm just reading lots and cramming my head full of tips and success stories ☺

By way of confession(!), I posted on the slimming world board too because I wasn't sure which way to go, WW or SW, but I'm not sure SW is right for me.

Hello and welcome Gin ! Are you going to track online ? You don't have to do a class.
Well done Jorah Grin

Hi, thanks for the welcome! I ideally want to sign up to do the meeting and have access to online as well, i think it was called monthly pass. I may end up having to do just online only but I know I'm so weak that I do better when someone else is weighing me!

So I made a mistake in vocalising (well in typed form) how good I felt.

This week I have binged. Most days. To the point of feeling sick. Haven't logged at all.

Why the bloody hell would I do that when I was so pleased with how well I was doing and was seeing results? It's not like I've indulged a bit and gone over a few points, I haven't really enjoyed anything.

I'm such a dickhead.

(Sorry, I know this is a bit negative for the thread)

Report
KenDoddsDadsDog · 16/06/2016 15:59

It's not negative , it's one of the really tough things when you're trying to change lifestyle.
Just try and start again tomorrow , you can't be perfect all the time . The advice someone gave me on the thread was always weigh in and track your bad days . I did that for a few days last week and was having over 80 points some days .

HairsprayQueen · 16/06/2016 22:09

Thank you, for the advice and for being nice Smile

Definitely back to it tomorrow, not sure whether to weigh tomorrow or not, don't know if it'll make me feel worse but know I should be honest!

poorpaws · 16/06/2016 22:44

Hairspray - all I can say is ditto! I've done exactly what you have done this week but I'd have money on the fact that I was far worse than you. I'm expecting at least a 4lb gain this week and just as I was doing so well too. If you are a dickhead then so am I - bloody stupid person I am!

Lost 1.5lbs last night which takes me up to 30lbs off.
I do think it's the walking and couch to 5k helping - I have gone over points for the last few weeks.
Have got 2.5lbs to goal now Grin

Well done Mrs and Ken on the losses! So close now Ken! I lost 2lbs this week which makes up for my 1lb gain last week! Have a few social occasions over the weekend so need to try to keep on it.

Poors and hairspray - time to draw a line under what's happened the last few days and start again...you can do this!

Welcome gin - hope you find a meeting. I have definitely needed the motivation of getting on someone else's scales!

Hi Betty Smile still no luck finding a suitable meeting. I think I am going to sign up for online and give it a go. I just worry I won't understand the system. Last time I did WW it was called 1, 2, 3 points or something. I lost 4 stones but regained them all over the years. Silly pig that I am Sad

Report
HairsprayQueen · 18/06/2016 08:16

So i braved the scales and I put on 3.5lbs.

In a better headspace today and know I can do this, I just have to be a bit kinder to myself! Thanks for the support everyone.

gin I'm doing online, it's ok, just log everything on the app and there are sections for a facebooky type bit to interact with others for support (I haven't) with pics, status updates, hashtags etc and another bit for interactive advice from WW themselves if needed. Ignore my last week as that was my fault, otherwise online has worked really well for me, I find it much more motivating and user friendly than My Fitness Pal.

Thanks for that Hairspray, glad to hear you're doing OK with the online. I think that's the way I'm going to go. I like the idea of tracking everything online and I've heard that the app is pretty good.

Went to my first meeting today, then went to a friends' for dinner and think I have already used all my weekly points on all the delicious things she made plus wine ... but still glad I joined and did not use the meal as an excuse to put it off for another week.

Welcome gin (sorry I'm about a week late in welcoming you!)

Ken you are doing so well - go for it :o

Hairspray most of us have been where you were last week. I have at least 2-3 binge days a month, usually in the run up to TOTM but sometimes more, especially if I'm very tired or stressed. No judgement here! Well done on getting back on the scales.

By some utter miracle I had 2lbs off today Shock We were away for the weekend and my jeans were feeling tight but apparently it was bloat not blubber. BUT we are heading away on holiday at the weekend - 2 weeks, all-inclusive, God save me. It was actually a bargain which is why we went AI but I will have to hope I can be sensible. Aiming for no more than 2lb gain - I will take that as a win!
