Following on from ⭐️LOSE IT! Optimistic October & 12 Week Countdown to Christmas⭐️

⭐️OPEN TO ALL⭐️

Clocks have now gone back and the nights are drawing in, Halloween is done and dusted and Bonfire Night is in a few days 😮. Meaning one thing! Christmas and all its festivities are arriving next month 😮🎄🥳

It’s never too late to make a change, to make a difference and feel confident in your body. To reach optimum health and vitality we need to focus not only on our food intake; but movement, mental health and sleep quality too!

Who doesn’t want to feel good and energetic as well looking great! Get on board to reset & refresh and become a healthier version of yourself.

These threads are for those who’d like to lose weight and those who wish to maintain whilst eating a healthy varied diet.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and generally eat twice a day. Im a long time healthy eater and overall I’ve lost around 45lbs.

I’m mainly maintaining but I would like to get back into the 8’s 🤞(I briefly dipped into the 8’s last month but the scale showed 9st 4lb yesterday)

Are you in😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

New members … Give it a go; it’s never too late! You'll be pleased you did 😊

PS - This thread will take us up to the New Year 2026 & the thread will be January 2026🥳

Morning All,
Well done for checking in yesterday if you did! We got back at about 7 and I daren't jump on the scales. I think I'll leave it until we're back from London for NY to see the damage. We've got so much food to eat in the next few days as well...so it's going to get worse! But I hope you all have a fantastic Xmas!

I just really enjoyed the holiday and I aim to do the same with Christmas and New Year. I will deal with the consequences in January!

Happy Christmas everybody 🎁🎄⛄

Merry Christmas to all all.

Ive been awol for a week or so. Unfortunately my mum fell last week and broke her hip, and didn’t survive the surgery to fix it. I’m a bit numb, it hasn’t sunk in yet. Having a very quiet day with my husband and animals.

I put on a lb last week, which felt like an insult to injury because I’d barely eaten, but I was full of a cold so hopefully it was that. It’s come off again this week, but I’ve had a couple of pieces of cake already! Someone bought me a gorgeous, enormous box of chocs. I daren’t open it until we’ve a house full of people, but they are winking at me every time I go past. I’m trying to not obsess over it this week, and plod on. There’s enough going on to worry about for the moment.

WearyAuldWumman · 25/12/2025 16:33

@Gingercar

I'm so sorry.

Gingercar · 25/12/2025 20:26

Thank you. I’m weirdly ok so far. Doesn’t seem real.

FridayNighFeeling · 25/12/2025 20:35

I'm so sorry @Gingercar I'm sure you're in shock Flowers Hope that the others in your household at the moment are supportive and helpful rather than adding on pressure/work.

socks1107 · 25/12/2025 20:54

@Gingercar I am sorry for your loss xx

biscuitcat · 25/12/2025 20:56

Fellsbells · 26/12/2025 12:34

So sorry for your loss @Gingercar.

Marshmellowbunny · 26/12/2025 17:18

Hey All,
I hope you all managed to get through Xmas. @Gingercar I just caught up with the thread and I'm sorry for your loss. I hope you're okay! Thinking of you 🩷

I hope you all manage to have a relaxing new year.

Alwayslearning25 · 26/12/2025 18:32

@Gingercar sorry for your loss.

I have added my list to the low carb bootcamp and am considering today the 2 week plan on there. I have listened podcasts about how low carb, particularly low sugar and high protein, high fat, whole foods diets are good. I'm not sure I can commit to it though, esspecaly long term. It does sound appealing though, how it's about breaking a high carb addiction.

On the flip side, is a more calorie counting approach. I have just been given a cookbook, pinch of nom. It's low fat, calorie counting. I don't really know. It's a minefield.

I do know I want to focus on a combination of losing weight and getting stronger in the new year.

Emmadaily · 27/12/2025 08:25

@Gingercar
Sorry to hear of your sad loss
Look after yourself and take care xx
Off to slimming world for the dreaded weigh iñ
Will report iñ later on

biscuitcat · 27/12/2025 08:50

Good luck @Emmadaily! I weighed yesterday and today to assess the damage and I’m about 1kg up - I’ve just had a profiterole for breakfast but other than that we’re now largely through the perishable Christmas food as I was pretty ruthless with getting rid of/immediately freezing leftovers so hopefully I can get back into more of a routine now.

@Alwayslearning25 I don’t low carb to the extent of the bootcamps I don’t think, but I do find my weight loss is more effective and consistent when I get most of my calories from protein and fat. I always thought I had a massive sweet tooth, but actually looking at my tracking over the past few months sugar isn’t really an issue for me, I’m typically below my daily target. I need to get into the habit of moving the balance more towards protein than fat though, cheese and butter are my weaknesses!

LegoTherapy · 27/12/2025 09:12

No weight changes here. I’m feeling very unbothered by food in general although I enjoyed cheese and biscuits last night with Ds and enjoyed Christmas dinner. The Yule log from Asda despite being their Exceptional one is not nice. The ice cream, despite being Kelly’s, is bland. Chocolate I still don’t care about. My much looked forward to onion ring crisps weren’t exciting, I don’t like party food at all anymore it seems. Too greasy and makes me feel queasy and bloated. I might make some soup today. Next Christmas I’m going to do the meal as lunch instead of dinner so we can get it out of the way and have time for games later on in the afternoon. And cheese and biscuits. I won’t bother buying half the food I’ve bought this year. It’s such a waste because nobody seems to want to eat it. I didn’t bake this year because I didn’t have time and it’s a good job because nobody would have wanted it. Dd wouldn’t eat too much incase her dad’s gf was doing Christmas dinner when he finished work. I didn’t think she’d be doing Christmas dinner at 9.30pm but dd insisted it was a possibility. She didn’t. The Baileys I bought seems to be aggravating my palpitations so I don’t think I’ll have anymore of that. So disappointing but at least I won’t be cross I’ve gained weight over Christmas I suppose. There was a thread where someone had gained 9lb so far!! That must have taken some serious effort!

Fellsbells · 27/12/2025 10:19

I’m a couple of lbs up, but it’s mostly water and food weight. I ran 8km yesterday.

@Alwayslearning25 good luck with whichever route you take. The low carb boot camp was unsustainable for me long term. Calorie counting has been the healthiest, most sustainable option for me. I can’t blow my calories on high sugar, high fat foods which has pushed me into eating better all round.

LemonDrizzle23 · 27/12/2025 10:29

@Gingercar Im so sorry for your loss. What a shock for you. Focusing on one day at a time is all you can do for now.

First Christmas without mum here has been a little muted, but ok over all. We raised a glass and cooked all the traditional family things. My dad confessed he never actually like the red cabbage that she cooked every Christmas for 50 years 😂

I am not stepping on the scales until final WOW of 2025 😬 We bought way too much food, and I think the trick will be to remember we are not dustbins! And balance not wasting food, with not overeating for the next week.

Alwayslearning25 · 27/12/2025 10:53

@Fellsbells @biscuitcat I used chatgbt to help be decide (literally copied and pasted my last post here) and it did say low carb is often unsustainable but can be useful as a reset for 2 weeks, then consciously add carbs. So I'm going to do that. My period is due on new year's eve, and I think it would be easiest to stick to a diet from a few days into January. Signed up to the bootcamp which is on the 5th, supposedly when I should be feeling my best period wise.

Emmadaily · 27/12/2025 12:40

Hi just back from slimming world
I put on half a pound which I'm quite pleased about after all the festivities @biscuitcat
Good luck to you getting back to some normality . I'm still wading through the Christmas treats and enjoying it of course 😀 as long as I don't go over target I should be alright then will try to get to 8 stone 7 in the near future .
Oh mmm your breakfast sounded delicious 😋
Hope everyone is ok ☺
And it's great reading the thread and sharing experiences
Xx

socks1107 · 27/12/2025 13:51

I’m managing to maintain which is all I wanted. Will start lowering calories from 5th January and focus on the last stone by summer.
are we all sticking around for 2026? I couldn’t have done this three stone without my strangers on the internet it’s been such a support this last year
