🎄LOSE IT🎄8 Week Christmas Countdown🎄

TheRealHousewife · 01/11/2025 04:10

Following on from ⭐️LOSE IT! Optimistic October & 12 Week Countdown to Christmas⭐️

⭐️OPEN TO ALL⭐️

Clocks have now gone back and the nights are drawing in, Halloween is done and dusted and Bonfire Night is in a few days 😮. Meaning one thing! Christmas and all its festivities are arriving next month 😮🎄🥳

It’s never too late to make a change, to make a difference and feel confident in your body. To reach optimum health and vitality we need to focus not only on our food intake; but movement, mental health and sleep quality too!

Who doesn’t want to feel good and energetic as well looking great! Get on board to reset & refresh and become a healthier version of yourself.

These threads are for those who’d like to lose weight and those who wish to maintain whilst eating a healthy varied diet.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and generally eat twice a day. Im a long time healthy eater and overall I’ve lost around 45lbs.

I’m mainly maintaining but I would like to get back into the 8’s 🤞(I briefly dipped into the 8’s last month but the scale showed 9st 4lb yesterday)

Are you in😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

New members … Give it a go; it’s never too late! You'll be pleased you did 😊

PS - This thread will take us up to the New Year 2026 & the thread will be January 2026🥳

Signing in! Thanks @TheRealHousewife . Nov goals: stay healthy, keep going with a gradual loss.

TC2023 · 01/11/2025 06:24

I’m in, thanks for setting this up @TheRealHousewife ☺️ I lost 1.5kg in October - gym 3 times a week, calorie counting, some walks and running around after a toddler who just learned to walk.

I’m starting November with a busy weekend of visitors and parties for Halloween but will make good choices and hopefully not do too much damage.

SW: 72.5kg
GL: 65kg

Feeling very motivated now that Christmas is only around the corner and my sisters wedding is the end of January so that’s when I hope to achieve my goal weight 🤞🏼🤞🏼

good luck everyone 🤩

WhitegreeNcandle · 01/11/2025 06:32

Yes please. I’m in. I need to lose 14lbs - I’d be really really happy with 10lbs by Xmas. My eating has got a little bit out of control and my tweens are picking up some bad habits. We’ve been super busy over half term and eaten some rubbish so a fresh start today would be fab.

Ive lost 5 stone before so I know what I need to do. Less food. More healthy food. Not half a bottle of wine and late night cheesy nachos like last night.

Todays plan

B - blueberry smoothie
L - ham roll, chopped veg and an apple
T - salmon, noodles, broccoli and kale.

LemonDrizzle23 · 01/11/2025 07:12

Thank you for the new thread @TheRealHousewife, can’t believe there’s only eight weeks left til Christmas 😩 At least I have made some definite changes this year - albeit I went up before I went down again…

Starting weight for November is 13 st 13.2. This month I need to cut out the daily treats that had started sneaking in and putting me back up to maintenance calories most days of the week. I will also keep being active - switching my walks to the gym, or home aerobics if the weather carries on being a bit crap.

Happy November everyone!

Marshmellowbunny · 01/11/2025 07:15

Just checking in on the new thread.

I did miss the alliterative title @TheRealHousewife but 8 weeks to Christmas omg.

Got my eyebrows and lashes done yesterday (it's really not me) but I actually feel a bit back to human after the worst year of my life so far.

I'm at my lowest weight to! So November has started off pretty well. I have you guys to thank for all the support and help 🤎 I've thanked you before but genuinely...it's been real rough and just having you all here supporting with the weight loss (and at times MH decisions 🤣🙈) I'm truly grateful and I really, really appreciate it. Thank you.

Hope November is a good month for you all!

readyforsunshine · 01/11/2025 07:28

I’d like to join please. I started last week & have lost 4lb so far. Hope to manage a lb a week until I feel happy. I’m cutting pasta, rice, potatoes & bread as much as possible but eating beans & pulses so not strictly lo carb.
great to have support & accountability to keep motivated 🙂

Alwayslearning25 · 01/11/2025 07:38

Place markings. Weighed myself first time in ages this morning 75.3kg. more than that I have low muscle tone. My fancy scales say 33.3% fat and 32.8% muscle so a goal is for muscle to overtake fat. I went to the GP with knee pain after self diagnosing hypermobilty. They agreed and said I have low muscle tone around my knees, gave me some strength excersises. I think I need to strengthen all over though.
I'm 33 for context, only my Lucy and yak dungarees and elasticated hospital fit. Jeans now both dig in and fall down.

My challenges is having 2 small children and working.

So my focus for November is excersice. I'm on week 5 of c25k and will aim to do at least 2 strength workouts a week. I'll join a Wednesday excersice class I can take my toddler to.

biscuitcat · 01/11/2025 07:38

Good morning ladies!

So glad it’s a good start to the month for you @Marshmellowbunny!

My November start weight is 13st7.5, which is 85.9kg. I definitely want to be into the 12s by Christmas, and while I’d also love to be in the 70s I think that’s more likely to be a January target if I’m maintaining a sensible rate of loss (and enjoying some Christmas festivities!!). Strange how goals change - I’m currently just over a stone above my start weight when I last really successfully lost weight many years ago, and I thought I was so hideously fat then whereas now, while I’ve still got a way to go, I don’t think I look too horrific.

On the menu today:

B - banana and a coffee at swimming lessons
L - probably gyoza and rice
D - lasagne

Greenfingers37 · 01/11/2025 07:42

Thanks for the new thread-checking in.
Current weight: 12.2
Goal weight for Christmas 11.8

Park Run this morning so I better dash!

magicmermaid · 01/11/2025 07:48

Checking in for November 😊

I finished October at 10 st 0.2, and so my goal for November is to get into the 9s and remain there (not just a fleeting visit as has been previously 😅).

Meal Plan for today:
Breakfast: pea Fritters
L: Mushroom Fajitas
Not sure on dinner yet, that is DHs remit.

Ordered some new workout gear too, to motivate me.
Going to do a 20 min growithjo workout.

Also saw Sydney Cummings is starting a 4 week plan on Monday, so might follow along with that as a workout plan. Feeling focused 😌

Roserunner · 01/11/2025 07:56

I'm in! I've lost weight in the past but it's slowly been creeping back up again. I need to lose at least a stone to be in a happy weight for me, around 2 stone to be a healthy BMI.

SW 11st 5.6
GW 9st 7

I exercise well and struggle to get a balance between the two. I'm just heading out now aiming for a 9-10 mile run. I need to sort my portion sizes out I think as on the whole I tend to eat healthily.

SoEasyToFall · 01/11/2025 07:57

I’m on WLI so not sure if I’m welcome here? But I want to just lock in and get myself sorted out for Christmas. I’d like to lose half a stone or so

Fellsbells · 01/11/2025 08:43

Thanks @TheRealHousewife

signing in for the slippery slope to Christmas.

Hi @SoEasyToFall The threads are for anyone 🙂 As it says in the intro we all find our own way to lose which works best for each individual 👍

I am on hoping it to be a better month for me.

GrannyTeapot · 01/11/2025 12:36

@Marshmellowbunny glad you’re doing a little better starting this month.

@Alwayslearning25 I enormously recommend yoga to help strengthen around your joints, it was prescribed for myself and my daughters (all with joint hypermobility syndrome of varying severity) by multiple hospital departments and has changed our lives, reducing chronic pain and fatigue. It helps reduce the time DD needs to be in her wheelchair.

It’s also helped me lose weight ☺️

Jecstar · 01/11/2025 16:20

Checking into the November thread.
SW in Aug was 13 7 and CW 13 2.5, so although I didn’t quite meet my goal of being under 13st for the start of a new job in Nov I am pleased with the overall trajectory.

Will be reading along with all of you lovely people even if I don’t post loads. Would really like to be in the 12s by Xmas.

PatienceOfEngels · 01/11/2025 17:06

Checking in for November!

Like you @LemonDrizzle23 I'm going to try and crack the extra treats that creep in everyday without me even thinking.

Today:
B-boiled egg, 1 slice rye toast with butter, 2x small coffees with milk
No morning snack - just Earl grey with orange.
L - scrambled eggs with 1 slice of rye toast, butter
S - square of 'gevulde speculaas' - delicious hybrid cake/biscuit = with a glass of strawberry milk
S - 2 bowls of home popped salted popcorn (olive oil for popping)
D- mashed potato and carrot with meatballs and red wine gravy

And here I can see the ridiculous number of calories from those afternoon snacks! Oh well, dinner done and now need to stay away for the cupboard. Water/herbal tea only from now on.

I liked Dr Chatterjee's ideas for November as well.

sunshineandkindle · 01/11/2025 17:15

Please count me in. I'm doing WW. Lost 8lbs so far. 9 stone 13lbs. Would like to get to 9 stone 3lbs by xmas 🎄

GrannyTeapot · 01/11/2025 17:58

@PatienceOfEngels I like those ideas too.

I had a lovely bean & vegetable chilli jacket potato with salad today, couldn’t have had a tastier comfort meal. Followed with a cup of tea from our thermos whilst walking the deserted shore, and a brunch bar. Simple pleasures.

Cheesewhatcheese · 01/11/2025 18:44

Been lurking on Mumsnet for about 100 years, but today is the day that I'm going to commit to losing some weight with the help of you lovely lot. Menopause, breast cancer and medications have made me go from a lifelong size 10/12 to a 16. Most of the weight is around my middle. I hate, hate hate it. Gym, swimming and yoga, no snacks or puds, portion control and maybe doing 2 800 calorie days, I'll see how it goes. Current weight 74 kilos, aiming for 67 kilos, but I'll be more than happy if I can get below the psychological 70 kilo barrier by Christmas. Wish me luck!

Nichebitch · 01/11/2025 20:07

I’m in! Just stopped injections after not losing anything for almost a year. I need to lose a bit more weight and keep healthy habits as I managed to reverse my diabetes and don’t want to ruin all the work!
thank you for the ideas so far x

badkitty · 01/11/2025 22:52

I would like to join please, weight has been creeping up over last 4 years (menopause, divorce, stress etc). After all inclusive holiday in half term have suddenly put on another half stone to take me to 10 stone 11 which was a bit of a shock! Ideally would get back to 9 stone 2. I have downloaded an app called Parrotpal which I have been losing for the last week - basically a calorie/ protein tracker but much easier to use than other ones I have tried in the past so seems sustainable. For the last week have been tracking and trying to be more mindful of what I eat but really struggling to get calories below about 1700 a day, this seems to be about a minimum for me without being starving. Obviously need to reduce my intake but not sure how without being starving all the time! So will be good to get some tips on here hopefully. I am 50 next year and really want to be in better shape by then.

TealSloth · 02/11/2025 06:44

Morning ladies hope you all are well and had a positive start to the day. I need a big kick. Soon as I have stepped into November had a bit of a negative start to the month. All related to work. But hopefully il pull myself together today.
November hoping it brings be positive start.

Go for high volume, low calorie foods. Veg soups, apples , carrots etc - where you can eat as much as you want without counting calories.
