Following on from ⭐️LOSE IT! Optimistic October & 12 Week Countdown to Christmas⭐️

⭐️OPEN TO ALL⭐️

Clocks have now gone back and the nights are drawing in, Halloween is done and dusted and Bonfire Night is in a few days 😮. Meaning one thing! Christmas and all its festivities are arriving next month 😮🎄🥳

It’s never too late to make a change, to make a difference and feel confident in your body. To reach optimum health and vitality we need to focus not only on our food intake; but movement, mental health and sleep quality too!

Who doesn’t want to feel good and energetic as well looking great! Get on board to reset & refresh and become a healthier version of yourself.

These threads are for those who’d like to lose weight and those who wish to maintain whilst eating a healthy varied diet.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and generally eat twice a day. Im a long time healthy eater and overall I’ve lost around 45lbs.

I’m mainly maintaining but I would like to get back into the 8’s 🤞(I briefly dipped into the 8’s last month but the scale showed 9st 4lb yesterday)

Are you in😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

New members … Give it a go; it’s never too late! You'll be pleased you did 😊

PS - This thread will take us up to the New Year 2026 & the thread will be January 2026🥳

@socks1107 I will also be around in 2026 - I continue to find this thread very motivating.

My next “hot” holiday is in 25 weeks, I’m keen to lose another 15-20lbs before then.

Alwayslearning25 · 28/12/2025 06:36

In currently enjoying eggs and toast with marmite and butter for breakfast. A few days ago i asked for an alternative to soldiers for a dippy egg. In the new year I'm going to do low carb, maybe just for 2 weeks. I just read on BBC good food a recipe for Soft-boiled eggs with pancetta avocado soldiers I'm keen to try. I listened to a Zoe podcast on low carb diets....long term it's bad for gut flora. Also it's very individual and some people can't stomach all the fat and are sick. And it's very hard to maintain. But I think doing it for 2 weeks could be good.

mermadeincornwall · 28/12/2025 09:00

Looking forward to WOW

Marshmellowbunny · 28/12/2025 09:36

I'm going to stick around in January. I won't be WOW on Wednesday because we're heading down south for New Year. Weighed myself today though and I'm at 9.10...i thought it would be more tbh. I've had the best time just doing and eating what I want and it'll probably continue for New Year, but then I will really try for 9.5 in January.

I hope you all had the best Xmas and have a great new year when it comes (and I can't wait until it comes!!).

PersistentRain · 28/12/2025 09:58

I was 1.5kg heavier on Boxing Day, creeping down now but I am skipping the gym as not feeling good.

biscuitcat · 28/12/2025 11:11

That makes one of us @magicmermaid! I’m still stubbornly 1kg up from pre Christmas (I say stubbornly - I’ve not been eating in a way which would lead me to expect any different!).

I’m also sticking around for 2026 - I’ve still got 2-2.5stone to go, which sounds like a depressingly
high amount, but is about 3 stone less than when I joined you all in June!

I’m going back to work from maternity leave in mid-March and have a swish wedding at the end of March, and I would like to be in the 11s for both of those ideally, which is about 1 stone away.

WearyAuldWumman · 28/12/2025 12:15

Have seen a humungous jump in the scales. I blame the sausage meat stuffing. And the chocolates...

Had good intentions re the gym, but couldn't get booked into Pilates for yesterday. I'm booked into the Monday class, so shall try to get back into my exercise regime.

I'm going to have to put the other chocolates in the cupboard. 'Tis the only way. I blame living on my own.

Hi @WearyAuldWumman At least you’ve braved the scales! You’ll soon be back on it and seeing progress x

Hi all, just checking in with you all. Amazing result to WI and have stayed where you are @Emmadaily

I will also be sticking around in 2026. Will assess the damage on the 5th. Been far too easy to fall back into bad habits, but structure will help and I feel so much better for having lost weight, gained fitness and looking after myself, so keen to get back after lunch and cocktails out on the 3rd.

Sending hugs to all who are finding it tough at the moment.

LegoTherapy · 28/12/2025 20:41

I’m sticking around too as it helps me stay on the straight and narrow or at least go less off course.
No gain here but I’m planning on making a veggie lasagna, possibly with chips, so that might change. We’ve been eating lots of light meals like cheese and biscuits rather than proper meals. I’ve given the chocolate biscuits a good go in the last 24hr a bit haven’t eaten any of the Christmas chocolate. Just don’t fancy it. The baileys seems to be giving me palpitations so I’m not drinking that. It’s a bit miserable to be honest. Dd2 is in a strop and has gone off to her dads for sympathy about how mean mummy is. It happens a few times a year and is very tiresome. She’ll get over it.
I have been so tired all Christmas. It’s ridiculous that I am off to bed again and not enjoying any Christmas tv with my feet up. Is there anything good to watch anyway?? I watched All Creatures Great And Small on Christmas Eve but that’s been it. I really want to enjoy an evening in my own with baileys and my feet up in front of the tv but it appears that’s not going to happen. We’re going to a New Year’s Eve party this year so I hope I can perk up by then!

Gingercar · 28/12/2025 20:50

My scales have been up and down over the last couple of weeks (unfortunately more ups than downs!). I’ve not particularly gone mad, so it’s disappointing, but it’s been a strange/sad Xmas (my mum died quite suddenly the week before) and I’m not beating myself up.

I saw a good French quote today - the problem is not what you eat between Xmas and New Year, it’s what you eat between New Year and Christmas…

LegoTherapy · 28/12/2025 21:07

@Gingercaryou should definitely not beat yourself up and just do whatever you need to get through. I’ve heard that quote before but didn’t know it was from the French. I was thinking half an hour ago that thanks to these threads I’ve changed how I normally eat and I now can’t eat like I used to, even at Christmas. It’s a good thing but feels rather miserable sometimes.

Gingercar · 28/12/2025 21:41

I just saw it in French, it might not come from there.
I could eat absolutely anything at the moment (even on WLIs!), I’ve been angelic for six months, but it’s been a struggle lately. Someone bought me a huge box of gorgeous looking chocolate from M&S and they’re driving me crazy! I’m going to have to give them away.

LegoTherapy · 28/12/2025 23:15

A little of what you fancy, does you good!

I made myself stay up and built some Lego whilst watching the Death In Paradise Christmas Special. I enjoyed both so glad I did. Lots of holes in the plot but I enjoyed it nonetheless.

TheWayTheLightFalls · 29/12/2025 08:36

Signing in for... something. I'm not sure I'll do OMAD today but I think I'll give breakfast a miss and see how I get on. I woke up feeling less hungry and will just go with it for now.

LemonDrizzle23 · 29/12/2025 09:03

Well my cold finally seems to be pretty much over now which im thankful for. If we could avoid the germs for a least a month or so, that would be good! As I have been clobbered by colds the last couple of months. Need a break.

Back to relatively normal eating now, as the Christmas food is almost finished apart from the last bits of cheese and meats which DH will continue to live on for the next few days! Dreading WOW on Wednesday, but will do it to see the year out!

TheRealHousewife · 29/12/2025 12:34

Good Morning You Lovely Lot!

Ive baked some gluten free Parmesan cheese shortbread biscuits today. I adapted a Nigella recipe 🤞I’m going to enter the ingredients into my app and work out the macros.

Menu
Meal 1 - Bubble & Squeek with sliced ham. Brown sauce.
Meal 2 - Cheese platter, salad, coleslaw & Parmesan cheese biscuits.
Drinks - Tea, black coffee & water.

I braved the scales and I’m about 1lb up from Christmas feasting, which will hopefully be off for official wow.

@LemonDrizzle23 Pleased to read you’re over the worst ❤️

@LegoTherapy I love a bit of Lego! I recently built the red telephone box which is lovely but to be honest I’m not one to have Lego on display and I don’t have a child’s bedroom I could hide it in 😅. I wonder if I can sell it? 🤔

@Gingercar 💐❤️‍🩹

So now I am only 0.2kg heavier than I was on Christmas Eve, so that’s a win. Still under the weather so just using it as an opportunity to drink lots of water and keep off the food. Will have a new years blowout and get back to it.

@PersistentRain Fabulous weight management over the festive period 👏👍

Sounds like a lot of you are doing really well. @Gingercar please take it easy and be gentle with yourself. That is a very good saying though and consistency is the key.

We will be having a quiet NY - I've never really liked it!

WearyAuldWumman · 29/12/2025 15:24

Weight management is all to pot, but went to Pilates this morning.

Trainer concentrated on abdominals. Ouch!

biscuitcat · 29/12/2025 16:01

Goodness me I weighed this morning and a couple of extra days of eating festively has definitely had an impact and I’m now nearer 2kg up on pre Christmas, whoops! I’m glad I did weigh as it was the motivation I needed to do today on plan rather than having a ‘fuck it’ day and doing what I fancied, especially as I met up with friends for brunch. Can one day of eating virtuously undo a week of overindulgence, asking for a friend…

@biscuitcat Up the water, eat fresh, plenty of veg, protein and healthy fats. Move as much as you can … You might need 2 days but it will soon disperse 👍

@WearyAuldWumman Well done on attending Pilates 🧘‍♀️. I bet you felt great afterwards … all stretched out and more svelte 👍
