These threads are for those who’d like to lose weight and those who wish to maintain whilst eating a healthy varied diet.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and generally eat twice a day. Im a long time healthy eater and overall I’ve lost around 45lbs.

Currently I’m maintaining at 9st 2lb but I would like to get back into the 8’s 🤞

Are you in😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

New members … Give it a go; it’s never too late! You'll be pleased you did 😊

Out for a meal today and will have gone over calories but haven’t had anything else today other than a couple of clementines. Fully expect to see an increase on the scales tomorrow but I have not eaten enough to gain fat so won’t be too worried and hopefully I’ll be gone by WOW!

Hope everyone has had a good weekend.

Determinedloser · 10/08/2025 21:54

Sorry, another post from me.

Does anyone else on the thread really struggle with protein? I’m getting 50g on a good day according to Nutracheck but many days it’s as low as 30g. As a vegetarian I find it so hard to get a decent amount of protein in because even things we view as high protein eg eggs there’s only around 6g. I’m going to have to resort to shakes and things I think but they’re so expensive and don’t taste that good. Will also really focus on trying to eat foods high in protein but like I say, it’s not easy.

LittleCarrot12 · 10/08/2025 22:18

@Determinedloser I’ve always struggled with this. Getting the protein in a calorie efficient way. I’ve acquired a taste for Greek Yogurt which is helping

Disappointed with myself this week. I was doing really well until Friday evening and then things went badly. But 1.2 pounds loss so onwards to a better week.

TheWayTheLightFalls · 11/08/2025 06:41

Back home from hols and weighed in, just above goal weight (though I was a kg under when we left!). Had my last meal around 4pm yesterday and will hold off til brunch bar black coffee.

I ate lots of calorific stuff while away, so I think the 16:8 approach worked well. I wasn’t losing weight but didn’t gain too much either.

LemonDrizzle23 · 11/08/2025 07:27

Beginning of a new week. I managed to strain my pelvic floor / prolapse at the weekend, helping someone who had fallen over, get up. So cross with myself - I’m usually so careful! Hopefully it just needs some rest for a few days. Thankfully I have a few days of daycare coming up, so will be putting my feet up rather than heading to the gym.

We are off out for a posh meal tonight. Might even be a tasting menu. So I’m not even vaguely attempting to calorie count 😂

Skyglimmer · 11/08/2025 07:38

@Determinedloser I struggle with protein as well as a vegetarian and fussy eater. I've recently switched to having clear whey protein powder which I find nicer than the normal whey protein powder and its less calories.

socks1107 · 11/08/2025 08:14

My weight has gone up 2lbs in two days! I’m hoping it’s the warm weather and my slow digestion at play. Gutted though!

PreetyinPurple · 11/08/2025 08:19

Finally lost a bit of weight, 0.2kg. Been looking back and I am rarely eating my calories and then burning hundreds of exercise calories on top. When I was eating them I was losing better.
So made more of an effort yesterday to eat.

rainbow616 · 11/08/2025 08:25

SW 13st 0.8lbs
CW 12st 11.6lbs
GW 11st 7lbs

i somehow managed to lose 1lb over the weekend even though I did no exercise and had a takeaway and had some drinks over the weekend. I don’t understand how my body works! I worked so hard with my diet and exercise last week only to lose two pounds, which I do know is good, and then despite eating and drinking over the weekend I took off one pound! But still, onwards! Hope everyone has a great week! ☀️

Fellsbells · 11/08/2025 08:34

Banana bread consumption is making me scared to weigh today.

BornInBradford · 11/08/2025 08:38

I gained rather than lost since my first message! 1.5lb up from start weight, but I need to remember I have eaten cake, a heavy meal, mayonnaise, hash browns with breakfast, a big smoothie.. not a diet weekend by any standards. Resolving to get serious now that it’s Monday and go high fibre and protein, low on fat, sugar and processed foods, and hoping to see the scales turn. The first few days are ok, it’s when the hunger really strikes that I need help - do people have any tips on satisfying hunger pangs and the need for energy without lots of calories?

Fellsbells · 11/08/2025 09:10

1lb up so it could have been worse.

Going to have to dig deep today, my hormones are against me.

I would get some things together that you can ALWAYS eat if you are hungry - a veg/cabbage soup (I make the one from the cabbage soup diet, I actually like it!), apples, carrots, black coffee, sparkling water, broth - and if you are hungry outside of meal times have one of those.

biscuitcat · 11/08/2025 11:09

Oh my goodness it’s been busy on here! We’ve had a manic weekend with 2 parties and various different family members staying over every night since Thursday - not surprisingly, I’ve not been especially careful with what I’ve eaten (especially as the parties were for 4 year olds so plenty of nice kids party food to snack…). I weighed this morning despite not wanting to and the damage isn’t as as bad as it could have been, maybe 0.5lbs which I’m hoping to knock on the head by Wednesday for my ‘official’ weigh in. I’ve saved some birthday cake from DS’s party - my sister made it and it’s exceptional, so very much worth saving some calories for - but have frozen the rest in slices.

The last couple of weeks for me have really slowed down, loss wise, and it’s because I’ve been much less strict in allowing little mouthfuls of cheese or whatever and not tracking them - need to get back on the wagon I think, and add more fruits and veggies into what I’m eating so I’m less tempted to snack, it’s always been my downfall and the past couple of months I’ve been really good, I can feel old habits sneaking up again.

@Soitis83 I’d love the recipe for your guilt free chocolate spread please!

biscuitcat · 11/08/2025 11:17

@Soitis83 oops went back and read your message properly, not a recipe one to buy! Will need to try it!

Alwayslearning25 · 11/08/2025 11:46

First day using nutracheck. I've gained weight, on 2 weeks holiday. I'm back to 13 hours intermiant fast this week so to reach my target weight it's calculated I need to have 1300 daily calories for 3 months. Not sure I can...I started with a big breakfast of 755 calories. I'm not particularly hungry and have a salad for lunch. Kind of think I should start running, but maybe I will finish my lower leg strength program first.

Alwayslearning25 · 11/08/2025 19:12

I'm feeling technically inept. I could only log 5 items on nutracheck as it's the free version. Do people here pay for it to use it? I went back to mfp, but couldn't see how to adjust the calorie goal, which was set at 1700 and I wanted 1300, or at least be able to see the target weight/ weekly weight loss.

PatienceOfEngels · 11/08/2025 19:33

In the evening danger zone and and trying not to snack (hard when DH and teenage DS keep hoovering up food!).

UPF dinner tonight (supermarket burgers with white rolls, supermarket meat and potato salad, plus salad veggies) but delicious homemade flatbreads and tzatziki with honey chili halloumi. A shame I ate 2 of them instead of only 1! Apart from an ice lolly on plan though for food.

Have leftovers for lunch tomorrow but will have to fight the kids for them.

Started a new 30 day yoga program yesterday. Slightly longer practices so far and can feel it in my wrists. Too hot to get my steps in. Was hoping for walk this evening but was still 29 degrees at 7pm. I can walk next week when it's cooler.

@LemonDrizzle23you poor thing. Take it easy. The most frustrating things about pf issues is they take a lot of rest, patience and consistent exercises to make a difference which can be so frustrating. I had problems with an overactive pf few years ago and now it's a recurring problem whenever I'm stressed or anxious (which is pretty much all the time!). Enjoy your meal out!

@Determinedloser I would try not to worry too much about trying to hit your protein goal if it means using supplements, unless you're doing a tonne of weight training.

@BornInBradford if I'm making a big change (suddenly shifting eating window or cutting sugar) then I have a short time when I get hungry but once my body adjusts then they're gone. Right now I'm in the craving stage but I know I'm not hungry! I would never deny myself fruit or veg, so having something that feels little luxurious like cherries or strawberries on hand is good, though I know that's not really going to fill me up. If I was really hungry I would want a hardboiled egg or a rice cake with cheese.

Fellsbells · 11/08/2025 21:31

@Alwayslearning25 you get 7 free days then you have to pay to log more than 5 items. It did give me another free week. Then it was offering £27 for the year. I still went back to mfp though because I find it quicker.

You can adjust your calories on mfp. Click on the three dots in the bottom right corner.
Click Goals
Then under Nutrition Goals click Calories, carbs, etc. adjust it to what you want and save it.

Fellsbells · 11/08/2025 21:34

@Alwayslearning25 also, 1300 is very low unless you’re particularly short/slim/older/inactive. Advice is generally pitch calories at something more sustainable.

Fellsbells · 11/08/2025 21:37

As for me, I nobbled myself by not eating until lunchtime. Then I was starving and ate too much. This evening followed a similar pattern and a chocolate trifle was involved. It was also too hot to run so today has not been a success!

I’ve roasted a chicken so tomorrow I will snack on that instead.

If you love ganache, you'll love this !! You feel naughty eating it but it's not bad for you at all

Alwayslearning25 · 12/08/2025 06:12

Thanks, I've adjusted my goal to 1440 calories on myfitnesspall.

TealSloth · 12/08/2025 08:01

Morning. It has taken me 3 weeks to adjust to holidays and new routine finally back on my calorie counting. Need to stick to it. Still need to get back onto my cardio. Still very behind.
Eating not doing too bad.
