Starting weight 12st 0lbs

5'4" and my heaviest ever!

nodtik · 13/01/2025 06:18

Also underactive thyroid and perimenopausal

Dreadful combo!!

WeKnowFrogsGoShaLaLaLaLa · 13/01/2025 06:50

Oh this is perfectly timed for me! Can I join you? Would also love to lose a stone in that time.

chalkyc2 · 13/01/2025 08:22

Also perfect for me apart from I'm going snowboarding on Feb 14 and I need to lose at least 7kg before I go to get into my kit 😬😫.

Started this morning with a peloton workout. And weighed in at 76.9kg. Don't want to see that number again please.

What's everyone's strategies?

RestingLettice · 13/01/2025 09:59

I’m in!

After 18 months of illness/surgery and sitting on my bum, I’ve gained 2 and a half stone!! 😩

Recovered now but desperately need to lose the weight. Feeling miserable plus the weight aggravates my joints as I have hypermobility.

I’m 5ft 3, 12 stone 1 pound this morning and my size12 clothes are all quite tight. This time two years ago I was 9 stone 7lbs, size 8-10. Mostly need to do it as my health sufferers when I’m overweight.

Going to do it by hopefully daily walking(10,000 steps), swimming or yoga plus calorie control obviously. I’ll probably look like my tubby cat doing the yoga! 😂

nodtik · 13/01/2025 10:00

@chalkyc2

My strategy is to move more and be much more mindful of eating.

I need to remain in a calorie deficit.

Day job really sedentary, so this should help!

nodtik · 13/01/2025 10:02

@RestingLettice

I have put on 1.5st in the time, so feeling really sluggish. Too many clothes just do not fit!

Good luck xx

MaterMetella · 13/01/2025 10:15

Can I join too? Weighed myself this morning. Heaviest ever. 182lbs. Need to lose two stone. Started 16:8 fasting last week and am combining with upping my exercise (frustratingly I already do shed loads of exercise, including a marathon less than three months ago!). Aargh.

Will have named days off when I have lovely things planned but other than that it is boot camp!

bigdecisionstomake · 13/01/2025 10:16

Can I join too please?

I have the post Christmas bulge and have 11.3lbs to go to get to target. I'm currently 10st 7.3lb and aiming for 9st 10lb. I won't lose all of that in 6 weeks but it would give me a good push to get me started if I could get 5/6lbs off by the end of February.

I've joined Nutracheck this morning to help me count calories - does anyone else use it? Other than that just being a bit more mindful and committing to some form of exercise at least 5 days a week.

Authorperson · 13/01/2025 11:26

Starting today, 88.5kg at 5ft10. Need to lose at least 12kgs. Here we go!!!

MandUs · 13/01/2025 13:55

Can I join too!

83.6 kg at present. I have 30kg to lose. Lost 5kg since the start of December by being sensible with my food but this is my first weigh in day without a loss so joining some other people to keep motivated is key for me at the moment I think.

I want to start exercising this week too. I have a very active job but that is only 3 days a week. I do nothing on the other days.

BlackBean2023 · 13/01/2025 13:57

Afternoon! Am about to put my trainers on and get some steps in. Porridge for breakfast and pasta for lunch so a bit carb heavy but I've not been shopping this week yet.

I'm using MyFitnessPal to track calories and will be nil by mouth after 6.30pm.

I have a city break booked for 18th Feb, a wedding in June and a summer holiday in August so I'm determined to get it off and keep it off this year.

BlackBean2023 · 13/01/2025 14:51

For the fellow shorties (I'm 5'3") what is your daily calorie intake to maintain? Mine is around 1400 so I've dropped my daily calorie goal to 1200 this week

OP posts:
RestingLettice · 13/01/2025 15:16

I'm doing fitness pal too. I'm 5ft3 and lost weight before by staying on 1200 calories a day. Once I stop eating junk I do find I crave food less. Maintaining weight calories I guess around 1500-1600? I think that's what fitness pal has suggested to me before.

I've just been for a very long walk and got my steps in. Going to try and do 10,000-12,000 steps a day this week. I do use a stepping block with hand weights when I can't get out. I've lost weight previously this way. I can certainly feel the extra weight I'm carrying at the moment!

Gert12 · 13/01/2025 16:50

I'm in, exact same starts as you OP. It's so annoying now that I'm in my 50s the weight just doesn't shift.

I'm going to reduce calories and do IF. This has really worked for me before so I am frustrated that I am back where I started.

Jerk chicken for dinner. Just internally debating whether to attempt just salad with it or a small portion of brown rice

WeKnowFrogsGoShaLaLaLaLa · 13/01/2025 17:57

@bigdecisionstomake I love nutracheck, it's miles better than MFP too.

chalkyc2 · 13/01/2025 18:04

I'm so bad a calorie counting!! I'm just trying no snacks no pasta/bread/rice and no alcohol.

My weakness is snacks and crisps and crackers.....

Also fairly short at 5'4 and 1200 calories doesn't feel like much 😭😭

Oh well. Have done well today with a smoothie for breakfast and mushroom soup for lunch. Chicken and something for dinner. I totally have to do this I have to fit comfortably in my kit!! And then after that there's another 10kg to go.....

nodtik · 13/01/2025 18:18

Nutracheck user here. So much easier than MFP in my opinion.

Just parked up at the gym.

First session of the week.

Wonder if I will burn many calories 🤪

nodtik · 13/01/2025 19:52

Gym done - 257 cals burned

Food eaten total - 1324

Restlessinthenorth · 13/01/2025 20:46

I'd love to join as well please! Won't be weighing till Thursday for a variety of reasons, however expect I'll be looking to need to shift 1.5/2 stones. Going to try and do it in half stone blocks to stay motivated

BlackBean2023 · 13/01/2025 21:21

Well done!

I've ended the day on 9203 steps which isn't so bad for a cold work day (desk job) and calorie deficit of a whopping 26!

Still, a good start.

OP posts:
nodtik · 14/01/2025 05:35

@BlackBean2023 well done on your steps, that's great with a desk job.

At least there was a calorie deficit!!

Onto Day Two!

WeKnowFrogsGoShaLaLaLaLa · 14/01/2025 06:40

Morning all. I've been trying to stick to a calorie deficit for the last week and have failed miserably every day. I've woken up with a bit more confidence today so 🤞🏻

I'm training for a competition so I am hungrier but using it as an excuse to eat all the wrong things atm.

Very high protein day planned today to hopefully stop that.

Earlgrey23 · 14/01/2025 06:52

I would lose more as gained 7kg last year but carefully want to just gently lost a couple of kilos or just maintain my weight through my first trimester while staying active and eating high protein/nutrient dense and avoiding foods that give me an energy crash. I'm on no sugar, brown carbs, and gym 3x a week, I'm usually on 10,000 steps but had my first day below 4,000 yesterday, to be expected so more emphasis on the right foods is needed to help on those days! Really want to stay in tune with my body as it helps my mood as well.

bigdecisionstomake · 14/01/2025 08:59

Morning all, well done on the steps and gym sessions everyone. I really need to pick my steps up, I came in at just over 5000 yesterday but am usually nearer 8000.

I'm a daily weigher and am ok with the fluctuations that brings. I'm down to 10st 7lb this morning so 0.3lb lost despite having no deficit - easing in slowly 😂

I've done Heather Robertson HR 5.0 Day 7 today which was upper body followed by some walking to try to get some steps in early. Total calories burned 320 so not too shabby. Desk bound today so need a plan for a few more steps.
