I'm still around!

I had two days off plan last week. I felt like drinking gin on Saturday night so I did, and then Sunday I forgot to track calories but don't think I made any really bad choices. On Monday I went to the gym and it was so much better than last time - the instructor had some suggestions of how to modify the moves I couldn't do so I was able to do most of it.

My weigh in on Monday was amazing - I realised I'm exactly 1kg above my goal weight. That's like 2 lbs! I am amazed it's so close and really hope I can get there for next week.

This is great! You're so close 👏

My weight is now down to 9stone 8lbs 2oz. I was feeling pretty good about this until I caught the sight of myself in the mirror. I strongly believe that I have lipoedema. My torso and stomach are small but I have large fat upper arms and buttocks/thighs. Currently my bust is 32inches and waist 27inches. If I measure around the widest point of my thighs I'm 41inches. My body fat is showing as slender (neck, waist and hips). All my weight seems to be in my arms, thighs and heavy legs. Anyone else similar?

That's really frustrating- definitely might be worth getting it checked out. I thought lipodema was usually legs though. Can it affect arms too?

I’ve lost my motivation and discipline and as a result not lost any more weight. Trying to figure out if I really want to or not.

If you're comfortable where you are maybe just focus on maintaining?

I'm still here too! just not checking into MN on my iPhone as it wants me to take off my adblocker which I'm not going to do. So using the laptop but less often.

I've been feeling a lot better this week, got loads of steps in and weighed in at 11st 1lbs which was a surprise as I haven't been keeping to a strict 1200 calories the last few weeks due to my very low BP. However, I have been eating very sensibly. No sugar and keeping my diet very clean. Think it's going to take forever to get back to my target weight of 9st 7lbs, but now I'm feeling a lot less tired, I'm getting out walking a lot more. Think maybe the strict 1200 calories wasn't helping my non-existent blood pressure. I've also been drinking a lot of water.

It might take a while but hopefully that will make it more sustainable. Keep going 💪

HorrorFan81 · 13/03/2025 19:31

I've been in Paris all week and haven't been sticking to Fast 800 Keto but have been low carb, no snacks and no alcohol so hopefully will have maintained at least. Will weigh in tomorrow morning

How many steps is a good amount please?

How many steps is a good amount please?

I think it depends what your baseline is - you don't want to aim too high if you're starting from a low step count as you might end up overdoing things. Do you know what you are doing now? I'd aim to add a couple of thousand on to that and build from there. I aim for 15-20k but I've built up to that over several months

RestingLettice · 13/03/2025 21:38

babasaclover · 13/03/2025 19:35

How many steps is a good amount please?

This week I've walked between 15,000 - 18,000 steps a day.

Been feeling so much better as I think my recent flare up of hEDS (hypermobility/connective tissue disorder) has finally subsided. I can get long flare ups, sometimes lasting months when I can't hardly do a thing with severe joint pain, inflammation/bloating and exhaustion amongst other things. Then it suddenly lifts and becomes very manageable. I've been avoiding all trigger foods like sugar, processed food since New Year, and I don't drink alcohol anyway as I get an instant inflammatory reaction to that. So I'm hoping if I can get moving more, I can hopefully shift this weight I've gained in the last two years. Also I tend to get a lot less flare ups when I'm in my lower weight range. Fingers crossed anyway!

@Scarecrow2016 i have never heard of that condition but just googled. What a frustrating situation for sufferers. Could a GP diagnose or give you peace of mind?

I think I'd feel a bit vain going to the GP. I can disguise it in clothes. I'll keep on the cal counting and see how it reduces as I near to 9stone.

Hi, yes. Upper arms too. It looks like dimpled fat deposits.

HorrorFan81 · 14/03/2025 09:07

Official weigh in day and I've maintained this week, which I am OK with since I was in Paris for 5 days and I'm also on my period

SW (Jan 24) 190lbs
SW (Jan 25) 161lbs
CW 142lbs
GW 138lbs

Hopefully by end of March I will have hit goal weight!

I'm 9 stone 4 lbs. I've just measured across my thighs and they're 40 inches across, my waist is 30 and underneath my boobs are 28 inches. So it sounds fairly similar to me? I'm definitely pear shaped and could do with losing some fat on my legs and arms.

If you're worried and don't feel right, you should pop up to the GP just to get it checked. It took me years and many visits of being dismissed to finally get my diagnosis of hEDS/POTS. Now I know what it is, I don't worry or get anxiety about the weird symptoms, plus it makes it so much easier to self manage and work around it.

I think you are right.

I am not sure as a 45 year old mother of 2 I need to be the same size as I was before I had kids and was in my 20s. I’m not overweight, just bothered by that extra half a stone I didn’t use to have.

HorrorFan81 · 17/03/2025 16:47

Quick update from me: down another 2lbs so 140lbs, 50lbs lost, 2lbs til goal. So so close 🙏

Scarecrow2016 · 18/03/2025 08:25

I've dropped from a size 12 to 8-10. Really chuffed. Reckon it's been over 5 years since I was this size.

Starting weight 3 Jan: 10 st 5 lbs 0 oz
Today: 9 st 7 lbs 6 oz

GrannyClanger · 18/03/2025 09:53

That’s amazing @HorrorFan81 you’re so close now! You’ve got this!

@Scarecrow2016 I bet you feel great! Have you treated yourself to some new clothes?

I’ve been pretty much the same - gaining and losing the same few pounds, but I think that is where I need to be now for maintenance. I seem to be finding that harder than losing! Trying to focus on nutrition and getting plenty of protein and veg. Hope everyone is doing well.
Not sure I ever put my weights so here they are:

SW 10st 4 (Aug 2024)
CW 8st 13
GW 8st 11

I got down to 8st 10 before Christmas but I just don’t have the drive to get back there so far!

Scarecrow2016 · 18/03/2025 10:07

@GrannyClanger how tall are you? That's quite a drop. I'm 5'3 so nearly a stone has made a massive difference. No new clothes but my old ones are fitting better - Im shopping my own wardrobe. I'll be putting some of my size 12 stuff on vinted.

NahThen · 18/03/2025 11:25

@HorrorFan81 2lbs, you're so so close! How are you feeling, do you think you'll want to keep going or switch to maintenance?
Great job too @Scarecrow2016 I'm very envious of your size dropping, I went from 11.2 to my current 9.10ish and though some of my clothes fit a bit better I'm still definitely a 12.

My tummy area still bothers me hugely but I can't seem to shift it. I've started some home exercise videos (Eleni Fit on YouTube is suiting me just now) and concentrating more on building some muscle and working on my posture so I may at least carry it a bit better.

Thanks

Im tempted to keep going just for a few more lbs so I am comfortably in a size 10 and to try and reduce belly a bit more. Might stay in deficit til end March and reassess then. I also think I will bounce up a few lbs once I start increasing my carbs a bit

HorrorFan81 · 21/03/2025 11:40

Official weigh in day and i am down nearly 4lbs! Last weeks weigh in was mid period so obviously had an impact

SW (Jan 24) 190lbs
SW (Jan 25) 161lbs
CW 138.6lbs
GW 138lbs

0.6lbs to go - hopefully in the next few days!

Have realised if I lose 4 more lbs ill be a total of 4st down which seems a nice round number 🤔

I’m 5’3 as well, and definitely feeling better, less tired and have more energy now I’ve lost the weight. Enjoy rediscovering your wardrobe!

@HorrorFan81 Congratulations!! You must be feeling so chuffed! 4st loss sounds great but you’ve got to do what feels best for you 😁

Thanks, feel a million times better in myself. Going shopping for new underwear this weekend, have been putting it off till I reached goal weight (or thereabouts) but I don't have single bra or pair of knickers that fit properly now 😀
