January 2025! Following on from LOSE IT! December 2024

Fresh Start, New Habits! To reach optimum health and vitality (as well as a slim bod) we need to focus not only on our food intake; but movement, our mental health and sleep quality too!

Who doesn’t want to feel good and energetic as well looking great!

Get on board to reset & refresh and become a healthier version of yourself.

These threads are for those who’d like to lose weight and those who wish to maintain whilst eating a healthy varied diet.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and eat twice a day. Im a long time healthy eater and overall I’ve lost over 3 stone. After having been on the wrong side of 12st Im now hovering around 9st 5lbs.

Are you in😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

I've been on the cake - a vegan winter spiced fruit cake. It was delicious and worth every one of the 500 calories!

Might have been a bit less as I didn't eat all the frosting!

Ethiopianflower · 24/01/2025 17:28

I deserve a flippin’ medal 🏅. My son made chocolate rice krispy cakes with dairy milk chocolate today. I knew if I had a taste I would scoff the lot. I didn’t even have a single krispy. My body is a temple 🤣🤣

Fellsbells · 24/01/2025 18:15

🥇 @Ethiopianflower amazing will power!

Goodafternoonmillie · 25/01/2025 08:52

Happy Weekend everyone!!

AnonymousMum37 · 25/01/2025 10:24

Ugh, I've been so good and averaged 1300 kcal a day this week, but haven't lost a single lb. In fact it says I have put on 4oz. Ffs.

Ran 10k Tuesday and 5k yesterday too, and back and forth from the back to front garden carrying huge bricks and breeze blocks to the skip for an hour this morning.

My exercise tracker made me laugh, 1 mile back and forth! 😆

Been feeling really rubbish this week. Had constipation since Monday so I have no idea how my weight has gone. I’ve just been focussing on eating the right foods. Had medicine last night & this morning & thankfully feeling better now. Will be having a good look at what I’ve been eating & how I can up my fibre intake. Still no chocolate or crisps 💪🏻

socks1107 · 25/01/2025 14:26

After a very slow start of staying the same or bouncing around the same 1lb I've lost 4lb this week taking me to half a stone lost year.

I think the first week may have been my time of the month ( I can never be sure as I've had a partial hysterectomy so ovaries are still there and hormones just not my womb) so all the consistency has meant a good few loses since.
I'm away this week now so will continue to track and be careful but won't wow as I'll be in some sunshine hopefully!
I'm thrilled and sort of want the holiday over so I can get back and carry on to my next half stone

Have a lovely weekend everyone

LemonDrizzle23 · 25/01/2025 16:08

@PatienceOfEngels and @happytobemrsg I wouldn't mind, but it was all annoyingly, and wildly calorific, so I've not been in a deficit now for half a week. And such a little amount of food too 🙄 never mind. Onwards and downwards.

Have just finished at the gym today, but otherwise have been quite stationary. Going to try and make sure I get some movement in before a big family lunch tomorrow.

On the plus side, I've planned food on nutracheck for Monday and Tuesday, so I should at least end the WOW week well. And I've added some sauerkraut to our grocery delivery - new to fermented food, but aiming for a healthier gut as well as a slimmer me.

New to this thread - looking for a bit of moral support and tips

had a c-section 11 weeks ago but doctor said I’m still not ready for strenuous exercise (wound is tender) my lower back feels completely weak

I am 10kg heavier than the month I got pregnant. I had issues during pregnancy and couldn’t work out (only walking). Before this I was an avid runner and Pilates etc pretty fit really

Ive lost 6 pounds already but now my periods are returning I’m experiencing that classic pms chocolate and biscuit cravings

finding this really hard! Am I being unrealistic? Feel exhausted…

rainbow616 · 25/01/2025 22:39

Congratulations @Chattycatt!!
11 weeks is not that long ago!! Try and not be so hard on yourself! Have you thought about getting a Mummy MOT? It may be worth getting an appointment if that's possible. They might be able to give you gentle exercises when you're ready to start to strengthen your core.
I also watched a programme which was on recently with the glucose goddess. Have you seen it? It was about curbing sugar cravings. It was really interesting and worth a watch.

Like I said, 11 weeks is not a long time at all, so take your time. Welcome to the group! X

Oops ate buffet food but less than normal and avoided the puddings so progress :)

Goodafternoonmillie · 26/01/2025 11:00

Welcome @Chattycatt and congratulations on baby 🥰 you can do this!!

@rainbow616 I love glucose goddess and have read her book! Haven’t watched the programme yet though!

yesterday calories was just over 1500. Small slice of birthday cake was enjoyed at relatives birthday get together 😋

feeling sluggish and tired as week before period!!

today:
20 min low impact workout
B: Smoothie
L: leftover tagine
D: carbonara

AnonymousMum37 · 26/01/2025 11:29

Slightly under 168lbs this morning, but less than a lb lost this week.

I think I've been eating too little and metabolism has slowed? My resting HR has been really low.

So I went for a 5k run before breakfast, and then treated myself to a big ol' bacon sandwich with avocado 🤤

I'm aiming for 2000 calories today (maintenance calories are approx 2320) then back to 1300-1500 tomorrow.

Hoping it'll stop my body hanging onto every calorie next week 😆

NessaSmith · 26/01/2025 11:40

It's my weigh in day and I've lost 2lb, taking me to 2st 10lb! Woooo!

I was feeling really jealous as my closest friend has gone on weight loss injections and the weight is flying off her. However I have to remind myself of how hard I'm working and how well I'm doing, too.

Sparxdislike · 26/01/2025 14:36

Well done for the losses :)

I had DS3 in May last year & I just got back to my pre pregnancy weight this month! Go easy on yourself 💐

TealSloth · 26/01/2025 20:49

Well done keep up your hard work am doing it naturally, it's hard work but I know it will pay off. Only area I need to work on now is calories intake. It's been 1 month I've not gone near any junk. My portion has decreased.
Am not going to give up.

Thank you so much! I hadn’t thought of a mummy MOT - I’ll have a look at that as GP doesn’t have much to say tbh..!

I haven’t heard of the glucose goddess, will have a look. Willing to try anything to curb sugar cravings!

thanks for the kind words and tips x

LegoTherapy · 27/01/2025 06:52

Morning all. Weight is stable. Workout done this morning. I couldn't do it last week due to flat pack furniture taking over the living room waiting for collection and building. My Ikea delivery experience was not good! My work out space is free again so I'm back on it. 52.81 miles walked last week so I aim to do better this week.

Have a great week everyone!

Goodafternoonmillie · 27/01/2025 07:13

Morning 👋

30 mins yoga this morning 🧘‍♀️

B: Smoothie
L: Tagine
D: Teriyaki Chicken & Salad

feeling so bloated and yukky and just meh mentally 😔

PatienceOfEngels · 27/01/2025 08:03

Morning all.

Lovely meal out Saturday night (carpaccio, then steak with pepper sauce, green veg and chips, 2 tonics, salted nuts and cheese after dinner). And a relaxing Sunday (boiled egg, rye toast and coffee, rye toast with herby dairy spread, DH's homemade traditional Dutch pea soup with bacon and smoked sausage, no evening snack!). Hour long walk through the woods and an awful lot of housework.

Today:
-boiled egg, rye toast and butter, 2x coffee with milk
-fruit/veg plate
-butternut squash soup
-greek yoghurt and honey
-going to be a bit of a mash up I think! slavinken (weird little mini meat things - basically seasoned mince wrapped in bacon) with baked beans/red onions/tomatoes and whatever else DH puts on the side.

DH was feeling a bit bloated this morning and since we've both had a bad week with evening snacking I told him we should both make the effort not to eat after dinner the coming week and see what difference it makes (I know it makes me feel better/sleep better but it's so much easier if we're both doing it!).

FaeryQueen · 27/01/2025 11:51

Complete experiment for lunch.

Much to my horror I have not one, but two swedes in the veg box. This really is my least favourite vegetable. Far worse then kale! As far as I'm concerned it's only fit for carving into halloween lanterns!

So - Swede soup for lunch - I've thrown in carrots, onions and a load of Indian spices to make a curried version. It'll either be OK and I won't be able to taste swede or absolutely horrible and I won't eat much of it. Either way is a win!

Ethiopianflower · 28/01/2025 08:25

No budging the scales this week. Stayed the same. Ah well - this happens. I have been as good as gold. Calories deficit and lots of steps. I have had stern words with the scales and he has promised to behave better next week. Somehow I fear he might go back on his promise. Time will tell 🤣

PatienceOfEngels · 28/01/2025 08:41

@FaeryQueen I detest swede as well. My mum just used to do it mashed as a vegetable with nothing else - yuk!

Today:
-boiled egg and rye toast with butter, 2x coffee with milk
-piece of fruit
-butternut squash soup &slice wholemeal
-chicken bhuna (out the freezer) and rice

resist the snack cupboard!

DC home ill from school today so no walk until this evening when DH is home from work.

PatienceOfEngels · 28/01/2025 08:42

Going to wait until Friday for my Wow to finish the month (and get as far away from period as possible!!)
