January 2025! Following on from LOSE IT! December 2024

Fresh Start, New Habits! To reach optimum health and vitality (as well as a slim bod) we need to focus not only on our food intake; but movement, our mental health and sleep quality too!

Who doesn’t want to feel good and energetic as well looking great!

Get on board to reset & refresh and become a healthier version of yourself.

These threads are for those who’d like to lose weight and those who wish to maintain whilst eating a healthy varied diet.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and eat twice a day. Im a long time healthy eater and overall I’ve lost over 3 stone. After having been on the wrong side of 12st Im now hovering around 9st 5lbs.

Are you in😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

I can’t even bear the thought of looking at the scales this morning. All I had to do was stay on track and lose a pound a week and I’d be into a dmaller size. Instead of that, I’ve been eating all over the place and not facing reality, and now I’m bursting out of the largest size available in the supermarket.

My first goal has to be nothing to eat after 7pm. I’ve set an alarm to go off at 6pm to remind me of this and to prepare my tea. I’ll put others’ snacks in the cupboard so that I’m not constantly seeing that stuff and mindlessly picking.

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 22/01/2025 06:53

New day @GrannyInTheGarden , new day. You can’t undo before, so focus on today.

can you reduce the snacks in the house to reduce temptation? Get the family on a bit of a health kick?

I’m not expecting great shakes today. I’ve been so sedentary of late, my Apple Watch is tracking that my daily calorie burn is quite low. So as well as getting my exercise back on track I need to generally move about a bit more. So hard when you are busy in a desk job at work all day and drive. I’m going to try and make more of an effort to use my standing desk.

good luck with WOW everyone. I’m just waiting to get in the bathroom for mine.

PatienceOfEngels · 22/01/2025 07:12

I didn't manage to stay off the snacks last night when the kids went to bed (cheese and pistachios...@GrannyInTheGarden evening eating is definitely my biggest downfall as well!)

Not very representative and definitely down to the stress of the last few weeks with hospital/funeral/bereavement but Wow...

SW (Oct 22) 77kg
SW (Jan 25) 72.7kg
CW 72.6kg - that's -1.6kg in 2 weeks
GW 68kg (healthy BMI, am 165cm)

Weight is very up and down during the week - was 1kg heavier 2 days ago.

Today:

  • boiled egg and rye toast wiith butter, 2x coffee with milk
  • fruit/veg plate
  • pumpkin pancakes with greek yoghurt and honey
  • 2 shortbread biscuits
  • spaghetti bolognese

Full day of teaching ahead and have to make soup this evening for my turn at lunch club with colleagues tomorrow. May get a walk in during a free period.

ForestDragon · 22/01/2025 07:26

WoW:
SW: 94kg 1/1/25
CW: 92.2kg
GW: 70kg

Going in the right direction but little disappointed to not lose 0.5kg and it feels like my rate is slowing so much already (1kg to 0.5 to 0.3 week by week) - but I think I know why (comfort eating due to anxiety at end of last week, and period started yesterday). So trying to use the disappointment as motivation to carry on as I have since Saturday tracking, making better choices, reducing portion sizes. I'm down a full inch on my waist as well (despite feeling bloated due to period) so I'm quite happy with that.

Good luck to everyone weighing today! @PatienceOfEngels I think you've done amazingly well with all the stress you've had!

Sparxdislike · 22/01/2025 07:33

2 lbs down so happy with that and back in my healthy bmi range :) still want to lose another 7 lbs then maintain again :) hope everyone has good WOW's today.

Goodafternoonmillie · 22/01/2025 07:34

WOW -

Last week 10 st 5.6 lb, 32.6% body fat
today 10 st 4.2 lb, 32.2% body fat

so down 1.4 lb 🥳
happy with that!!

woke up late today so only did a 12 min yoga video, but thats ok. I recognise that if I am aiming to do some form of movement every single day, then some days are going to be short and sweet. Consistency though right?

@GrannyInTheGarden it is so hard but please dont give up trying! You can do it, we are all here for you along the way!!

agree @PatienceOfEngels the fact you are even still continuing trying with how this month has been for you is absolutely amazing!’

Well done everyone on losses 🥳🥳🥳

justanotherboymum · 22/01/2025 07:42

Another loss of 0.8kg this week, really happy with that! I haven't managed to do the workouts that I've hoped to do but did try to walk as much as I could

SW 82.1
CW: 80.5
GW: 72kg

TerroristToddler · 22/01/2025 08:00

WOW week 3 weigh in for me today and I'm quite pleased as I've lost almost 2lbs this week.

SW - 140lbs
CW - 136lbs

Am away this weekend but determined to stay within cals wherever possible as my body finally seems to have cottoned on to the diet after very slow losses at the start.

I've been using my peloton bike x5 a week and gonna keep that up. Also done x2 week too.

Keep it up everyone!!!

Jaderz · 22/01/2025 08:10

I’ve done ok this week as well 2.6lbs down. I had a slow start but I think this is normal closer to goal weight. I have 6lbs left to lose but it will probably take me a couple of months or so

under60kgbyJuly · 22/01/2025 08:51

WOW:
SW: 63.4kg
CW: 63.0kg
GW: 60.0kg

Same as last week here and feeling a bit fed up. Those of you dealing with weight you want to lose in your 20s/30s/40s, you're right to do it now rather than later. My fitbit says I burn about 1700 calories each day, including both BMR and all the exercise I can fit in round my sedentary job, and I fear it's about right. Eating enough less than that to lose is hard, especially in January. (ETA also: do other people see their heart rate drop when they eat less? My resting heart rate is in the high 50s which I'm generally quite happy about, but on a day when I don't eat much I notice I'll often see it in the 40s which seems excessively low. Can't help feeling this is my body doing a great job of saving me from starvation but that it might be better if it didn't for now...) However, small wins: I have seen numbers starting with 62 a couple of times in the last week and I have not seen a number as high as my starting weight, so it's not literally that nothing is happening, it's just sloooowwwww, and I knew it would be. Congrats to all those seeing weight drop off and commiserations to those like me!

LemonDrizzle23 · 22/01/2025 09:13

Well done everyone weighing in this morning! Lots of losses - January does focus the mind sometimes.

Last day with guests today, so I will weigh in tomorrow morning. I have to go and choose new glasses this morning and I hate getting new glasses 😭 I've avoided it for four years, but these really need an update!

socks1107 · 22/01/2025 09:14

WOW

SW 13st11
CW 13st 7
GW 11st 7

2lb off this week and 4lb overall in three weeks.
I am really pleased. 😀

IDareSay · 22/01/2025 09:15

After losing the 'fluff' last week I wasn't expecting much this week so I am very happy with a loss of 0.8kg, hitting my end of January target a week early. Only one minor snackcident over the weekend.

Being consistent so far with:
Water intake 2l 7/7
Vitamins 7/7
16:8 7/7
Will add in some exercise habits towards the end of the month, just walking for now.

SW: 72.5 kg
GW1: 69 kg end January (achieved)
CW: 69kg (3.5kg lost)
GW2: 65 kg end March (in time for weekend away)
GW3: 60kg end October

PatienceOfEngels · 22/01/2025 09:20

Copied and pasted without changing my current weight 😂

SW (Oct 22) 77kg
SW (Jan 25) 72.7kg
CW 71kg - that's -1.6kg in 2 weeks
GW 68kg (healthy BMI, am 165cm)

Good Afternoon

Apologies for not being around; I’ve been laid low with a bug. Over the worst I think but still not 100%.

WOW - 9st 4lb. Not a big loss but better than a gain.

Congratulations and well done to all our losers and keep going everyone … it will come off 😬.

Menu
Meal 1 - Chicken & Veg soup. GF crackers.
Meal 2 - Chicken tray bake. Greek yoghurt & raspberries.

Tea, black coffee and water.

Very reluctant to weigh in today given that this week I had many pre-planned birthday meals. All in all I’ve put on 1lb. Not the end of the world at all. I have one more meal planned (Mexican on Friday) & that’s it!

SW: 10st 1.8lb
CW: 9st 4lb
GW: 8lb 10lb

What did I miss with the deletions?

Missed them but judging by the now withdrawn message and the username it was someone trying to advertise their services!

LuckyMauveReader · 22/01/2025 15:04

Yes, they were. I didn't know they weren't allowed so replied. I asked MN to delete my reply as a result.

Lesson learned!😁
