Hello and welcome!

Following on from 🎄LOSE IT! November 2024🎄

We are now entering the final few weeks of Countdown to Christmas 🎄🎄🎄 Do you want to look and feel absolutely fabulous in time for the festivities?

In adopting a few lifestyle changes and food choices you can 👌

If you’re a returner or a new starter feel free to jump right in to reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself. These threads are for those who’d like to lose as well as those who wish to maintain whilst eating a healthy varied diet.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have a WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I follow a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and eat twice a day. Im a long time healthy eater and overall I’ve lost 4 stones. After having been on the wrong side of 12st I am currently idling around 8st 10lbs.

Are you in?😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

I have a rather delicate snout I'll have you know! It's the salty food. It's a bugger for making me retain water. We went out for a meal tonight too and I am stuffed so I think I'll skip weigh in tomorrow

@LemonDrizzle23 I hope your shoulder improves soon. It sounds very painful.

Sorry @LegoTherapy it wasn't my intention to offend you.

@TheRealHousewife I'm not offended don't worry 😂 I'm offended by the weight gain though!
Hope those weighing today have some good results. There's only today and next Wednesday and then it will be Christmas 😱

Ohyesthankyouglitter · 11/12/2024 07:05

Checking in - been away for the weekend and it involved a LOT of food. Very sociable weekend coming in, so trying to be v moderate during the week.

Inspired by you all, whether the scales are shifting or not!

OneDayIWillLearn · 11/12/2024 07:17

WOW check in:
Start weight 13 st 6lbs
current weight 12 st 3.5 lbs
goal weight 11 stone ish
So that’s just over 1lb off since this time last week 🥳

very pleased with that. Last Monday morning to Friday evening I was very on track with food, as I have been since this Monday. The weekend was more of a splurge because a) it was my son’s birthday and b) we had power off all day Saturday which created a lot of work stress and lack of time for food shopping/ planning!

I’m still doing my ‘run at least 25 mins every day in December’ challenge - now ten days in - and I think that is probably helping though my main reason to do it isn’t weight loss. I find it a really good counterbalance to all the forces conspiring to keep us indoors and waging/ drinking/ consuming to much and I’m sure it boosts my mental health.

OliveZebra · 11/12/2024 08:45

Starting weight - 69kg
week1 - 68.4kg
week 2 - 68.2kg
week 3 - 67.4kg
Week 4 - 67.8kg
week 5 - 67.2kg
week 6 - 67.1kg
week 7 - 67kg
week 8 - 66.9kg

3rd week on the run only losing 100g! Happy with it though!

IDareSay · 11/12/2024 09:05

Good morning Wowers

Another slight nudge down, which I am grateful for. Very social few days ended yesterday and despite that I did manage to see 69.5kg on the scales at one point so heading in the right direction.

SW: 73.9kg (11st 9lbs) (beginning of August)
CW: 70.0kg (11st bang on) today, 11/12. So 100g off this week. Every gram counts!
GW: 69.0 kg (10st 12lbs) Christmas interim target
GW: 57kg (9st)

Onwards and downwards 1kg to go...

LemonDrizzle23 · 11/12/2024 11:14

Well done to all the WOWers. Some great results - especially for December!

I have not even bothered to weigh this morning 🥴 I was out for lunch Thursday, Friday and Saturday last week. As well as party food and birthday cake over the weekend for DS.

@LegoTherapy and @TheRealHousewife yep the shoulder is sore! Thankfully it's my left shoulder, so not impacting stuff day to day too much. But need to work on getting it fixed.

Hit the gym first thing this morning after drop off, and my ear phones were out of charge 😭 Managed 25mins on the bike and they are now charging!

TheRealHousewife · 11/12/2024 14:03

Afternoon All

@LegoTherapy 👍

@OneDayIWillLearn Steady and consistent progress! Well done 👏

@OliveZebra A loss is a loss and better than a gain ⬆️ Well done 👍

@IDareSay Good progress, congrats! 👌

Great that you still got to work on the exercise bike even though you have an injury! You’re a true trooper 👍 I hope the shoulder is soon fixed!

Wow +0.1kg Happy with that!

Feeling so tired and cannot believe how early it's beginning to get dark - such gloom during the day at the moment. I need light!

Have been managing to stay off the snacks in the evening, though often a bit of chocolate and chocolate milk during the day.

Today:
boiled egg and rye toast, coffee
fruit plate
spicy carrot soup with wholemeal bread
greek yoghurt and honey
chicken and bacon risotto with beans, carrot and courgette.

Goodafternoonmillie · 11/12/2024 21:54

Thanks for the virtual hug @TheRealHousewife 🫶🏻

well done for all the losses!!

I havent been calorie counting or weighing recently but dont want to drop off the thread as I am determined to get back on it!

posting my win for the day which is drinking lots of water, going for a lunch time walk and I have noticed an improvement in my skin and nails recently which I can only think is linked to my morning smoothie I have been having. My nails are usually so brittle and short but I suddenly realised they have grown long and strong!! So I ordered some bright red nail polish for Christmassy treat :)

keep going everyone!!

LegoTherapy · 12/12/2024 06:49

@Goodafternoonmillie I'm not sure whereabouts you are in getting to your goal but don't feel bad about not weighing or calorie counting. I haven't calorie counted for so long, it might even be a year. I've found that after losing the intended weight I am naturally sticking to the diet I had while calorie counting give or take some variances but it must balance out because my weight stays stable within a couple of kilos. I just keep an eye on the scales. I'll post my graph but it shows how I've had small gains and then lost it again. Times when I've eaten more than I should have done for too long (the biggest one being after a cancer scare that saw me lose extra then steadily gain after the all clear when I was happy to not be dying), times of stress when I've lost again and just natural variations often due to salt I find. I try to look at the overall picture and use happy scale for logging my weight.

LegoTherapy · 12/12/2024 07:21

Back down to 53.9kg this morning so was definitely the salt because I've not done anything to warrant the loss.

Ohyesthankyouglitter · 13/12/2024 21:17

Hi all, just checking in at the start of the weekend.

Weighed myself this morning - 11st 11.75
Target range is 11st 3-7, this fits my frame well without my chest getting bony.

I've been gradually working down from 13st over the last couple of years, but have been between 11st 10 and 12st 2 for the last year - v v keen that I finally get this half a stone off!

Weekends are normally when I undo all the good work of the week - I'm hoping that motivation for Christmas week allows me to be moderate...

Fellsbells · 14/12/2024 07:22

Just catching up with everyone’s progress. Well done! Hope shopping, decorating and eating is going to plan.

I’ve had a very relaxed food week and the scales this morning have let me know it. Home made pizza night and lots of treats are the main culprits.

I did do a workout yesterday and my legs are aching today. Plan is to start doing that every day. Two weeks is plenty for me to lose the carb face and not look too bloaty on any Christmas photos.

Today’s plan:-
make some low cal soup.
eat plenty of protein.
arm and core workout.
don’t eat too many calories.

LemonDrizzle23 · 14/12/2024 11:37

We're having a Christmassy weekend! The tree is up, so we will be decorating the tree and putting our lights up outside today. Tomorrow we're off to do some NT Christmas lights.

Food has been iffy 😬 the "don't touch, it's for Christmas" food has definitely been touched before Christmas! So today it's going in a box and into the garage until bloody Christmas!

Fellsbells · 14/12/2024 13:07

Good plan Lemon Drizzle.
Have a lovely Christmasy weekend.

LemonDrizzle23 · 14/12/2024 17:08

DH has just appeared back from Tesco with two more packs of mince pies. Fuck my life 🤦🏼‍♀️ thankfully the pack he opened has thick icing on top, which doesn't do it for me. He can have those. The other pack has gone straight in the box in the garage!

Christmas tree is decorated, lights are up inside and out, and a truly terrible film about Elf on the Shelf is being watched by DS. Christmas has arrived in the LemonDrizzle household!

LemonDrizzle23 · 14/12/2024 17:09

Thank you @Fellsbells I hope yours has also been suitably Christmassy!

LegoTherapy · 15/12/2024 11:53

Checking in with 53.7kg. I was asked yesterday if I'd lost weight but I fail to see how a kilo since I last saw the person would be noticeable.
We were out for DD's birthday yesterday and I ate 3/4 of a pizza to myself and birthday cake with extra whipped cream when we got home.

It's starting to feel nicely Christmassy here now. One week to go of school then relax. Most of the presents are wrapped and I'm feeling organised for once. The house is also tidy apart from my room.

Chilled out day today with carols at church by ds's class later on.

Hope everyone is enjoying the weekend and isn't feeling stressed now that Christmas is close. This month has gone so fast.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 15/12/2024 19:41

Hi 👋 I'm a bit late to the party but I have seen this thread mentioned on another thread so thought I'd join you if I may. I am not sure I'll be losing much/anything in December but I'd take an overall maintain. This year I have gained a few and reached 161lbs, lost a lot (as low as 149lbs before my summer holiday) but since then I have steadily regained and am now 160lbs again. I don't know what's got into me since the summer. I exercise a lot, but I eat too much, and the wrong stuff. I am quite looking forward to a strict new start in January.

TheRealHousewife · 15/12/2024 20:12

Evening All

The wheels have come off a bit this end … the odd chocolate and a gf mince pie might have breached my usual stoic reserve. No regrets 🤭

Welcome @thenewaveragebear1983 It’s never too late to start thinking about changes you can make 👍. Imagine the changes you could make in January and visualise how you’ll feel by the 31st 👌 Then carry your new healthy routine through to February etc. The word ‘strict’ makes me nervous. You don’t want to set yourself up to fail.

@LegoTherapy Sounds like you’re having a lovely time and you’re organised to boot. Well done on your loss 👍

@LemonDrizzle23 Christmas is so much more exciting when you have little ones 🎄Good idea to put the tempting bits into the garage!

Well done on getting your workout in @Fellsbells 💪

@Ohyesthankyouglitter The last bit is always the hardest to lose! You’ll get there!

@Goodafternoonmillie You’re welcome. I hope things are a bit easier for you and no matter which home you’re in I hope you enjoy this festive period ❤️

My brunch from a couple of days ago; gluten free flax seed cob sliced thin, chilli mackerel & soft cheese. Black coffee.
