January 2025! Following on from LOSE IT! December 2024

Fresh Start, New Habits! To reach optimum health and vitality (as well as a slim bod) we need to focus not only on our food intake; but movement, our mental health and sleep quality too!

Who doesn’t want to feel good and energetic as well looking great!

Get on board to reset & refresh and become a healthier version of yourself.

These threads are for those who’d like to lose weight and those who wish to maintain whilst eating a healthy varied diet.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and eat twice a day. Im a long time healthy eater and overall I’ve lost over 3 stone. After having been on the wrong side of 12st Im now hovering around 9st 5lbs.

Are you in😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

I was 1lb down today, so pleased with that. I suspect it was a bit of water weight loss at the back half of last week, but I’ll take it!

Congrats to all the losers! And virtual support to the maintainers and gainers!

Puffalicious · 22/01/2025 20:37

Hey all,

Been off the thread almost a week as life has been a bit mental. OH is away with work unavoidably, & I'm just not used to it! I'm bloody knackered 🫠.

Been.up & down. Worst time is evening when everyone in bed & it's just me. I've not been sticking to my 16:8 😞.

Lost 1lb this week, week 3. Scales were teetering up & down, bit settled on the llower, so I'll take it, but may not lose next week.

The biggest change for me is the walking 45 minutes every day. I've kept it up & feel much better for it.

LemonDrizzle23 · 23/01/2025 06:59

Late WOW, no change for me this week. Haven't been on top of diet and haven't moved as much, so can't complain! Onwards and downwards.

Goodafternoonmillie · 23/01/2025 07:58

Morning! Lovely meal out last night, which I enjoyed. Back on it today!

40 mins pilates & core (heather robertson) ✅
B: porridge, banana & chia
L: roasted vegetables
D: mustard chicken & rice

1 more week of January left!
if I can lose 1 more lb this next week I will be where I was before Christmas. Hopefully!!!

socks1107 · 23/01/2025 08:21

I did a good gym work out last night.

B - porridge
L - crackers, cheese, cashew nuts, strawberries and a protein yoghurt
T - new potatoes and Richmond sausages with veg

I am starting to feel better! My face has lost its bloat and the better food choices mean I have more energy and a better mood.
I'm on holiday next week so am dreading it a little with food but will enjoy my 4 days in moderation ( we walk about 30k steps a day when we are away) and get back on it as soon as I get back

Jaderz · 23/01/2025 08:36

@socks1107 I do this type of holiday regularly and you will find you will hold onto a lot of water the first few days on return do not let this dishearten you. All the walking needs hydration for the muscles and if you fly, you will also hold onto some water weight. My last holiday I was very moderated with food and very active and got home and had gained weight but it all fell off by the next week as it was just water. Avoid eating too much salt (and booze) will help.

HappyLittleTreeFriend · 23/01/2025 09:15

Yay! I weighed myself just now because I forgot yesterday and I've lost 0.75 lb! So progress is happening yay!

SW: 9st 11.75
CW: 9st 10.5
GW: 9st

Feeling good, keeping going! Slow and steady it is then 😂😂

Thank you!
The booze bit may be difficult, we love a drink in the sun ☀️.
Will drink plenty of water anyway and keep mindful of what I eat. I won't have 2 Nutella pancakes for breakfast each day on top of a cooked breakfast!

NessaSmith · 23/01/2025 11:25

I am struggling mentally to stay on track and keep going over, 265 yesterday and a thousand the day before! Why do I do this to myself, I am so motivated in what I want to achieve but can't seem to get there.

Current weight 19.9lbs

I think I'm going to get myself an Apple Watch when I hit 5 stone off. Half way there.

RavensEcho25 · 23/01/2025 11:36

I'm the heaviest I've ever been and I don't like it. Normally about 11lb and I'm 13lb now. I struggle around people with my autism but pushed myself to go to the gym for a day with my partner and did a spin class for 1hr. Proud of myself! Was nice to have myself and 2 others in the class, made it easier for me. Me and my boy go for walks via pram or body carrier too! Try my best...

Sparxdislike · 23/01/2025 12:15

@NessaSmith I have an Apple Watch. It is good tbf. I often call my watch bossy because it reminds me to stand, be active etc 😅. It does help to see things visually though.

Small steps make a big difference I like to think.

Sparxdislike · 23/01/2025 12:17

@RavensEcho25 well done! I used to enjoy biking which is similar to spin. I can't do it now due to health issues but it was lots of fun.

Nice you had people to go with you and makes a lot of difference :) I remember baby wearing and it's like weight training 😅 with added baby/toddler cuddles.

happytobemrsg · 23/01/2025 15:01

This is going to sound a bit of a cop out but I’ve decided to revise my “goal weight”. I think 8st 10lb for my height (5ft 6”) is just a little too low. The only time I got to that weight I was on a very restricted diet & it just wasn’t sustainable. That was before my beautiful DS3 so I expect it would be even harder to maintain now! I’m thinking perhaps 9st 2lb ish.

LemonDrizzle23 · 23/01/2025 20:27

Well today has been an excellent example of why you should avoid having stuff in the house that you don't want to eat!

Somehow, we have ended up with chocolate, mini chocolate fudge cake slices, timtams and choc chip biscuits in the cupboard. And I think I've sampled all of them today 🙄 Have now boxed them up and put them up in DHs office! Just spent the whole day picking at them and none have been worth it. Apart from perhaps the gluten free timtams which were very exciting in their gluten free-ness.

Fuck my life..... back on it tomorrow!
Main meals have at least been healthy and I have been to the gym.

Don't keep shit food in the house!!!

Yup I hear you. I gave up crisps for January and just had to throw them all out otherwise I know I would have caved.

Sparxdislike · 23/01/2025 22:06

@happytobemrsg I get the kids treats that aren't my favourite to avoid this 🙈 otherwise I'm the same. Especially if I'm tired or bored 😬🙈

Goodafternoonmillie · 24/01/2025 07:12

Yesterday went pear shaped with snacks from tiredness and emotional eating. Given my head a wobble this morning and getting back on it today - want to finish January strong!

just completed 30 minutes strength.

B: Smoothie
L: roasted vegetables
D: meatballs & salad

HappyLittleTreeFriend · 24/01/2025 07:30

Impressed with your morning workout @Goodafternoonmillie - I've been keeping up with my daily yoga but I haven't managed to start doing kettlebell workouts yet, I haven't made the time - must do it this weekend and start getting in the habit!

B: Coffee with milk
L: Tomato, red pepper and Wensleydale soup
D: Omelette, potato wedges and salad
Snacks: Sticky toffee pudding with the Traitors finale!

Small portion of wedges, large portion of salad 😂 Happy Friday everyone, hope everyone stays safe in Storm Eowyn too 💜

PatienceOfEngels · 24/01/2025 08:47

@LemonDrizzle23 sounds very familiar! Once all the treats are gone I find it so much easier (not just Christmas here but 2 birthdays in January as well).

Well, my weight and system is all over the place at.

Wow was -1.6kg in 2 weeks after a highly emotionally stressed few weeks.

last few days have been feeling exhausted, headache, sore throat and bloody starving (I'm never normally hungry like that).

Popped on the scales this morning - +1kg in 2 days.

And now the realisation.....period due tomorrow!

Will definitely be staying off the scales until next Wednesday.

Yesterday:
-boiled egg and rye toast with butter, 2x coffee with milk
-fruit and veg plate
-winter veg and barley soup, bread and butter
-fornello (chicken, rice, eggs, veg dish, cooked in the oven)
-nuts and cheese in the evening

Today:
-boiled egg and rye toast with butter, 2x coffee with milk
-greek yoghurt and honey
-winter veg and barley soup, bread and butter
-dinner will probably be chicken burgers with salad/veg and homemade paprika wedges.

still trying to catch up with work after bereavement leave (teacher so everything just waits for you! tonnes of marking/reports).
did take a short walk outside this morning.

allthenoise · 24/01/2025 09:21

WOW

SW:66.9 kg
CW: 66.4 kg

Body fat same percentage though.

Goodafternoonmillie · 24/01/2025 09:58

@HappyLittleTreeFriend it may not last but so far in Jan I have gotten up before the kids to get some movement in! I hope i can continue it!!

Fellsbells · 24/01/2025 10:03

Enjoying reading everyone’s updates. Well done for keeping going.

After a difficult couple of weeks with poor sleep, hormone issues and eating too much sugar things are slowly getting better.

I’m prioritising sleep. Apparently it’s very important for weight loss and overall health.

My weight today is a couple of pounds down on 2 weeks ago.

Sparxdislike · 24/01/2025 12:14

I have a party with buffet tomorrow 🙈. I'm planning on filling up with a healthy meal before so I'm not hungry. I'll probably have a couple of things so I'm not impolite and try and make good choices 😬🙈
