Expecting my first pen hopefully tomorrow.

I took my first dose on Tuesday. I’ve felt pretty good, more energised, still thinking about food a lot but wasn’t expecting it to be an instantaneous thing. The fact I’m taking it is making me a bit more conscientious with my food anyway. I’ve noticed that I’m eating my evening meal a bit slower than usual.

Only side effect I’ve noticed so far is really achey muscles yesterday but that subsided today!

Cheeseismyfavourite · 18/04/2024 18:27

Hi - took my first dose yesterday. It was super easy but I don’t feel a thing yet. I’m not sure how long it takes to take effect.

@MendaciousMabel @Cheeseismyfavourite
That's good to know. I'm eager for my own to arrive as I've decided I want to take my dose on a Friday and don't want to wait another week if it doesn't come tomorrow

Where did you both get your pens from? I went with Asda but I think there are cheaper places to get it so I might try somewhere else for the next one

Cheeseismyfavourite · 18/04/2024 18:47

@schoolie258 from Bolt it was £125 so I think cheaper than Asda. i ordered it on a Saturday and it came yesterday but should I have been Tuesday but I left for all of 15 minutes to pick the kids up and the postman came

giraffetasticc · 18/04/2024 19:27

Hi! I took my first dose on Tuesday around 6pm, yesterday I had a slight grumbling headache (that started after eating a leftover creme egg! unsure if related to it?) but that’s my only side effect so far. Can’t say I’m feeling much in the way of appetite suppression yet, I have the feeling it’ll take a while for me to start shifting any weight, always does 😢

I got my pen from boots, the most expensive but I was being cautious and wanted to get it from a brand I know if that makes sense. I may consider switching. It’s insane the difference in pricing!

My stats are:
SW: 15st 6
GW: 11st

I’ve been overweight since I was a child and I’ve binged my entire life, have lost a bit of weight here and there but something gets in the way. I really want to use the time I’m on MJ to get into better habits and be healthy so I can enjoy my life with my daughter. The main reason I’ve tried it is because it cuts out the food noise for a lot of people and no matter what I do I’ve never been able to quiet it. I really really want and need this to work for me, and I understand that I need to work hard too!

QuiltedHippo · 18/04/2024 20:23

Hey I'm on week 2, doing fine with side effects just a bit headachey - but I'm quite prone to them.
Lost 5.5lbs in my first week as appetite went straight away, though more strongly from day 2.

Have a beer festival this weekend, and a work meal tomorrow that would normally mean a few drinks but alcohol doesn't appeal and I'm scared of feeling super bloated!

Ghilliedu · 18/04/2024 21:27

Hi, thanks for starting this thread. Good to chat with people at the same stage and the other thread moves so fast I was getting lost!

I’m on week 1. Second injection will be on Saturday morning and to be honest I’m ready for it now. First couple of days I had terrible nausea and couldn’t eat a thing but since then I’ve gone back to being hungry most of the time, although I am definitely getting fuller quicker and don’t feel the automatic need to have something nice after every meal!

not tracking cals at the moment, just trying to make better choices but that might change depending on how my first weigh in goes on Saturday!!

MendaciousMabel · 18/04/2024 21:31

I was looking at med express and it is so much cheaper than boots, it’s tempting to get my next pen from med express but with their pricing I’m a bit worried about them having stock issues.

Ghilliedu · 18/04/2024 22:10

I originally tried med express but they rejected me based on my photo saying I didn’t appear to have a BMI over 30. It’s actually 35. I asked if there was anything else I could send them and they just said no so I used Asda. Annoying because med express is so much cheaper!

Hello 👋
I started on Saturday so 6 days in

SW: 15st 5lbs
GW: 10st

I feel really good have more energy. I have had a few cravings it was for salmon and hot chocolate for a few days (odd mix) and sweet food one biscuit is enough. I just don’t want to eat anywhere near as much and not thinking about food all the time. I don’t often know what to eat I think I need to plan meals and just cook them rather than wait until I’m hungry and just eat cereal or left over dinner

Pops1985 · 19/04/2024 07:19

Hi all, I have found my tribe! I did my first injection on Monday and have been lucky, minimal side effects (just a bit of acid reflux) and pretty much total appetite suppression. I’ve been forcing food in and actually finding eating 1100-1200 calories a struggle. I’m starting at a higher weight than most, 289lbs but I haven’t weighed yet as want to hopefully see a big loss on Monday. This stuff honestly feels like witchcraft, I don’t think I’ve ever thought about food less. Good luck to everyone starting soon!

Mombie · 19/04/2024 08:41

I have been looking at mounjaro/Wegovy for a while and bit the bullet and ordered from medexpress. Took my first shot on Weds night and feeling very energised (not sleeping a huge amount) and hips feel a bit achey today. I’m not starving for breakfast like I usually am and am a bit meh about food in general when usually I love to eat and think about food constantly.

starting weight: 13:7
goal:10.4

if you have just started, are u planning on moving up to the 5mg after 4 weeks? I want to order my next pen but need to see how first 2 weeks pan out.

Thanks I’ll look at that for my next one if it’s not too much of a pain to switch provider!

I’m unsure about moving up to 5 as I’ve read about the side effects on the other thread. I think it will depend on how things go with this pen. If I have good losses and continue that for all the doses I might do another 2.5 before moving up but it completely depends on how I get on. Still in my first week so it’s hard to know just yet.

first weigh in tomorrow though and I’m excited/nervous. Really hoping for some sort of loss to keep me motivated

schoolie258 · 19/04/2024 09:47

@Ghilliedu let us know how you get on with your weigh in :)

I was thinking the same about staying on the 2.5 for a second pen depending on how it all goes.
My pen is arriving today so I will be injecting for the first time later on!!

Feelingslightlyuneasy · 19/04/2024 10:19

Hi everyone! I have just taken my 3rd 2.5 injection and am now feeling no side effects.

For the first 1.5 weeks I felt terrible, very tired, constant headache, insomnia despite being exhausted and an uneasy feeling that wasn’t hunger but felt like I needed to eat.

All the symptoms disappeared as soon as I started drinking A LOT of water, like 3-4 litres a day.

The weight is slowly coming off and I’m am eating around 1200-1400 calories a day. I started at 82.5 and the scales were showing 79.8 this morning, not bad for just over 2 weeks.

Good luck everyone, I feel like on other threads when someone has asked a question that’s maybe pretty basic, they have been shot down in flames at how concerning it is that someone hasn’t researched or understand how it works.

All of us have had this prescribed by a medical professional that feels this medication is appropriate. That’s as much as anyone needs to know, how much or little you read the accompanying information is your business!

I was hoping to stay on the 2.5 for a bit but I think I’ll have to move up as a feel absolutely a zero effects.

I’m eating less but only because i’ve paid £125 and I’m determined to lose at least a couple of lbs🤐

schoolie258 · 19/04/2024 10:38

@Feelingslightlyuneasy I thought the exact same about the other threads. Someone had said something along the lines of 'people are asking basic questions... this is life changing medication and they're going into it blind' like...everyone has to start somewhere and of course newbies will be asking those with more experience for advice. I'm sure they did the same at the start and some of them are only on week 4 or 5 so it's not like they've been on it for years. ANYWAYS lol

OP posts:
schoolie258 · 19/04/2024 10:40

@Cheeseismyfavourite that's a bit disheartening you haven't had any loss or effects but they do say 2.5 is just an introductory dose so hopefully if you do go up to 5 you will notice a difference

OP posts:
Cheeseismyfavourite · 19/04/2024 10:57

@schoolie258 to be fair I only started Wednesday so maybe the second dose will kick in or something - fingers crossed.

I’m pretty sure I will lose some weight this week as I have been eating less out of sheer stubbornness and I was on an all inclusive holiday last week

Ghilliedu · 19/04/2024 10:57

I think we all have to go into it a bit blind to be honest. You can read about it as much as you like but everyone has a different experience and it’s so much more helpful hearing what people have actually been through rather than reading some generic guidance. For me anyway! Hopefully now we have this thread and we’re all at roughly the same point we can be a good support for each other and any other newbies starting

I'm following old thread as I like to see what I may expect however it's good to be with people who are starring out too.

I am on Day 10 and have found it fine apart from acid reflux yesterday but that could have been down to drinking so much coffee recently. Currently sat with my homemade soup which I would usually have a (low carb bread) sandwich with and I don't think I can finish the soup! I love how my stomach feels satiated and settled all of the time instead of that empty and burning feeling of hunger pangs when I fast/diet etc. I'm so happy we are in this era and hope that the long term studies show this to be beneficial and safe with emerging solutions for long term.

I feel like I have changed my lifestyle in a way uI never have previously so maybe that is the long term effect. I know if I exercise I'm going to build the muscle to increase metabolism so it feels worthwhile as I really believe I will reach goal this time. I want to exercise as I know it is going to pay off and I've had the confidence to start swimming again which I haven't done since I was a teen and my love if it has fully returned - quite a few forgotten memories were unlocked yetserday when I got into my stride. I thought I couldn't do front crawl anymore however I've watched a few YT videos and went from doing 5 metres to 6 lengths to 36 lengths of front crawl in my 3 most recent visits! I'm taking it slow and my watch counts the lengths and notes the stroke I use (sorcery) so I'm just doing what feels right in the time I have (wfh). I have a dowagers hump and get a lot of neck ache plus hate flabby back so hoping in the long run the swimming will help fix all that along with my weight loss.

Exercise used to just feel like 'what's the point, it won't show until I've lost about 4stone' and I think I didn't believe that would happen so I didn't do it. Everything just feels different on MJ and I think it can stay this way as long as you keep perspective about weight loss speed. It seems to be super fast for the first month or two then slows down, but when it slows down, you will be so much lighter than before and a weight you wish you were at now and knowing the next month you will be even lighter!
