Expecting my first pen hopefully tomorrow.

I've told my husband, but no one else. I'm dying to tell my sister how well it's going so far, but I know that she would tell everyone she knows, as she is incapable of keeping a secret, so I'm keeping my lips firmly zipped for the time being. Also, you really don't know how it's going to work out long term. I really don't need the curiosity and attention and possible disapproval - it's hard enough to do something as major as this as it is, without interested spectators

I know I’ll face judgement about it and I really can’t take the negativity, I think I’ll just keep it to myself for now to see how it plays out in the long run. How long have you been taking it and are you seeing much results?

overwhelmathon · 21/04/2024 15:53

My husband knows and I told my sister too. Both sworn to secrecy as I don’t want anyone else to know. It’s a weird kind of embarrassment… think it’s borne out of thinking that if I fail then I’ve pissed all this money away and everyone will be like “welp, she’s still fat!”

Ghilliedu · 21/04/2024 15:57

I only told my husband. I would have found it pretty hard to hide from him tbh because I felt to ill the first week. I won’t tell anyone else I don’t think. I can’t be bothered with the judgement!

StaySpicy · 21/04/2024 16:22

I haven't told my husband yet, purely because he's never struggled with his weight and just won't understand how it's affected my whole life since puberty. He's the kind who can eat what he wants and not put on weight, so I can well imagine he'd say "don't spend that money, just eat less rubbish and exercise more".

I haven't told my mum, either, because while she's had similar struggles to me she's never been as large as me and successfully lost loads of weight on WW several years ago, so would be appalled that I felt the need to go to such lengths.

I could’ve wrote this myself. My husband has always been so encouraging and loved me for who I am but I feel ashamed going out in public beside him as I feel like people are judging why someone slim like him is with someone like me. I would just like to be comfortable and confident in my own skin. How are you managing to keep it from him? I don’t know where I’d keep it as I heard it’s supposed be in the fridge? My family and my husband wouldn’t be happy with me spending the money on it but it’s my hard earned money so I feel entitled to spend it as I wish

QuiltedHippo · 21/04/2024 17:31

My husband was surprisingly OK with it, which must be telling that I've put on a lot of weight! (He doesnt know the cost though) He's a very exercise and moderation guy so I was suprised. We had a good chat about how young kid life is a real challenge for healthy lifestyle with less time, and chocolate etc is a cheap and easy "treat" when life is a bit of a slog.

He put his old ivf skills to use and has been doing my jabs.

Weird feeling this weekend when others were the ones saying they were getting hungry, it's always me!

StaySpicy · 21/04/2024 17:57

@GreyFinch The Wegovy website says that you can store it out of the fridge if needed, between 7-30°C temps. I'm keeping mine away from radiators and windows. I can't keep mine in the fridge because DH would definitely find it!

VelociraptorsVelociRapping · 21/04/2024 18:25

Thanks for this thread. I am on day 5 since my first 2.5mg jab and four pounds down (I know it will be mostly glycogen and water but it’s still motivating).

I am getting incredibly thirsty. I am drinking my usual 2-3 litres of fluid a day but (sorry for TMI) my urine today is really dark and concentrated as if I am dehydrated. Chugging more water now!

Cybele311 · 21/04/2024 18:49

GreyFinch · 21/04/2024 15:46

I know I’ll face judgement about it and I really can’t take the negativity, I think I’ll just keep it to myself for now to see how it plays out in the long run. How long have you been taking it and are you seeing much results?

Only 9 days - I had my second injection of 0.25 on Friday. The results have been excellent so far : I lost 3kg in the first week, have had minimal side effects, just mild nausea on the first day after the injection, and both my appetite and 'food noise' reduced dramatically within about an hour of the first injection. I couldn't quite believe it.

I did a lot of research on how people get on with it before I started, as I imagine most people on here do, and it came across very strongly that to avoid the unpleasant gastro-intestinal side effects, you have to 1) start with a very low dose and increase dosage gradually 2) drink LOADS of water 3) eat mainly fruit and vegetables and plenty of lean protein. This hasn't been too much of a stretch, as it was what I was trying to do, but frequently failing at, before I started on the Wegovy. One thing I've really noticed is how much sweeter fruit tastes since I've stopped eating anything with sugar in. Raspberries and blueberries, always good, are sensational!

Like many others on here, I have been both startled and delighted by how Wegovy has just stopped me thinking about food all the time, and enabled me to regard high fat, salty/sugary foods with complete indifference. In as much as I want to eat at the moment, which isn't very much, I want to eat healthily. It's miraculous, and seems too good to be true. Fingers crossed, but am much encouraged by all the accounts I have read here and elsewhere of people who have steadily lost a great deal of weight using Wegovy.

My starting weight was 93.3 kg - the shame of writing it in stones and pounds is more than I can face! I wasn't even intending to write my starting weight down on here, but since you've asked me it seems churlish not to. And other people do, so I should join in. I think my denial is still at the level where I can't actually believe that I allowed myself to put on so much weight. Writing it down in public makes it all too real.

My weight as of this morning, 9 days in, is 89.8 kg. I know I shouldn't be weighing myself every day, and that a lot of this will be water weight, but it's strangely compelling to weigh myself every morning and write it down, and then watch the column of figures go down the page, reducing a little every day. Most days the loss has been about 0.4 kg.

I'm continuing to be very active, walking at least a couple of miles a day, and doing resistance training at the gym 3 or 4 times a week, which i've been doing for several years and has made me very strong but not really helped with my propensity to overeat. The Wegovy has not affected either my desire or ability to exercise.

My target weight? I'm not sure I want to make a hostage to fortune by putting a number on it, but if I could lose 20 kilos I would be a very happy woman.

MeAndMounjaro · 21/04/2024 20:35

I'm the opposite and have told many people, partly because I was so e cited when I was waiting to get going and partly because I knew I'd tell some people and then forget who. Then if I lied I'd look sly and inevitably figured people would find out sooner or later. Another reason is because I think people in the public eye are not being truthful about use of these injections claiming after 20 years of being iverweight they now keep weight off by 'eating less and moving more', true but not admitting where the sudden willpower came from. I think it needs normalising.

I want people to talk to me if they are considering trying it and for me to have buddies in real life who are on it. Some people have told me they would like to see how I do and maybe give it a go, I'm OK with that. I hate the thought of someone beating themselves up that I've been able to finally lose weight while they still struggle on and don't have my "willpower".

Dvh149 · 21/04/2024 21:53

Hi Everyone, I'm really glad I found this post! I started Mounjaro on Thursday afternoon. I had a slight headache and felt a little nauseous on Friday morning. But felt absolutely fine a few hours after waking up. My appetite has reduced significantly and my cravings have almost dissappeared.

I have put alot of weight on since I had my son, who is now 18 months old. My portion sizes increased near the end of my pregnancy and never reduced after i had him, which i think has been the main reason for my weight gain. I would like to lose just over 4 stone. I don't expect it to be a miracle cure to being overweight but I hope it helps with my portion sizes and to reduce cravings.

I have told my husband and he is supportive. I have not told anyone else, maybe through fear that it doesn't work. It will he nice to see how other people get on. 🙂

We went for a roast early this afternoon and I'm still absolutely stuffed and couldn't possibly eat anything else. I've felt a bit uncomfortable this evening just from feeling so full but no horrible gastric consequences thankfully. It's nice to be able to go out for food and it feel like a nice treat not an excuse to over indulge. I'm trying to get into the mindset of eating well most of the time and being able to enjoy a meal out etc on occasion, like regular none binge eating disorder people do!

Mummadeze · 21/04/2024 22:25

Hi All, just came on to say good luck to you all. I have been on Wegovy for 5 months and have lost 3 stone. Gone from 17 stone to 14 stone. My goal weight is 12 stone so I will be ploughing on. Haven’t moved up from 1mg as it gets more expensive and am happy with the rate of my weightloss. I definitely couldn’t have shifted all this weight without it.

GoingDownDown · 21/04/2024 23:10

Jab two of Mounjaro today for me!

Haven’t had any nasty side effects, which is a very nice change from Wegovy, I was throwing up every night from day one on that.

I felt it had a slight effect on me for the first couple of days, but then none. Wegovy took a few weeks for me to feel any effect on appetite/weight loss, so I was expecting that. I’ve got a 5mg pen already, so I’m committed to my month on 2.5 and then a month on 5 and will see how I get on.

Beyondbeliefsometimes · 22/04/2024 00:12

Hi, hoping to join in. Just ordered, and hopefully they will arrive soon. I've been thinking about this for a while and finally made the plunge. Have signed up to the gym as well. I

Pops1985 · 22/04/2024 07:26

First week weigh in this morning and I am down 9lbs! Absolutely delighted but I have a lot to lose so thought it might be a big number. Second jab at lunchtime today although still having full appetite suppression so wondering if I should try and stretch an extra day out to save some money in the long run. Probably won’t though 😀

PrimalLass · 22/04/2024 11:10

I wouldn't stretch it out so early on. I did last week because I couldn't face going from 0.25 Wegovy to 0.5. By the next day I was back eating bread and butter etc.

schoolie258 · 22/04/2024 12:05

TMI but I've had some urgent bowel movements this morning 🙈 Assuming it's from MJ but could be a bug. Anyone else has this ?

My order has been approved, so should hopefully arrive in the next few days - excited but nervous! You all seem to be doing really well with the weight loss!

How long did it take to be approved @humptydumpty85? I applied last night and currently eating circles all round me. Can't get full, but period is due. So I'm hoping it doesn't take that long.

Another question I was wondering, did it help solve anyone's cravings for fizzy soft drinks such a coke and lucozade? I have read a few people say it did. I drink a ridiculous amount.

@Beyondbeliefsometimes I ordered on Saturday evening, so was pretty quick. I also had to email them as they had some question about my thyroid medication, so was impressed at how speedy it all was! I went with medexpress.

Not personally but it’s listed as one of the most common side-effects in the info leaflet so it’s likely to be connected. Hope it passes soon!

GreyFinch · 22/04/2024 15:21

I ordered through Voy and got a pretty good deal, they give a discount code for 50% off if anyone is wanting it a bit cheaper: https://joinvoy.com/r/U-rWFtZ3sGsU

Second day after my first jab. Feeling okay. I've been drinking plenty of water and only had a protein shake and an apple because I wasn't hungry earlier and not bothered about eating. I feel hungry now, though, so will have a small snack.

It's kind of odd, because I have thought about chocolate and cake today at times, but have no desire to eat any!
