Expecting my first pen hopefully tomorrow.

Anyone else just starting out?

Thanks for starting this thread. Good to be with people at the same stage. Took 1st jab MJ last night. Haven’t had any side effects yet apart from some burping during the night . Also can’t decide whether I’m hungry or not this morning but haven’t eaten yet. Really hoping this helps me with willpower. I’ve done the fast 800 a couple of years ago with good success, but as I’ve got older (and now peri) I just can’t seem to do it again, and weight was stuck

I’ve started taking a calcium/magnesium supplement as well

SW 16
GW 10.5

BeautyGoesToBenidorm · 20/04/2024 07:04

I'm on my second week of Mounjaro 😁 I was headachy for a couple of days, but nothing unmanageable.

It killed my appetite stone dead almost immediately. I've yet to see the scales move, but I'm hopeful!

SW: 14st 2lbs
GW: 9st 7lbs

overwhelmathon · 20/04/2024 09:26

Jumping on the bandwagon as I’ve always lurked and soldiered on alone before but then failed so hoping some kind of solidarity and accountability will help keep me on track!

Approaching the end of my 2nd week on Wegovy. On 0.25 and haven’t had any mega bad side effects bar a few nocturnal tummy aches and an afternoon of unpleasant bathroom antics in the first week. My appetite definitely comes back as I approach injection day (Sundays for me) but I do feel it’s helped me maintain a calorie deficit since I started. Been tracking my food in LoseIt and aiming for 1500-1600 a day - my mental mantra is “it’s a marathon, not a sprint!”

SW 14st 12.5lbs 😭
GW 12st 7lbs
CW 14st 8lbs

Seeing movement on the scales is ace but the main health benefit I’ve felt is from cutting back on my wine consumption - my sleep has improved tenfold! Here’s hoping the downward weight and upwards health trend continues! Got a 0.5 pen in the fridge ready to start in a couple of weeks.

Ghilliedu · 20/04/2024 10:12

First weigh in this morning!

SW 223.8lbs
CW 219.2

so a loss of 4.6lbs in week 1. I’m happy with that, although I know much of it will be water and not actual fat but it’s just such a relief to find something that works.

just about to take my daughter to her gymnastics class and while she’s there I’ll come back and do injection 2. I wonder if I’ll ever be less nervous about this part, the needle is tiny but I’m still really anxious injecting myself!

minny80 · 20/04/2024 12:48

Hello thanks for starting this thread. I am on week 2 and happy to report I haven't had too many side effects after the first few days. I lost 1kg in the first week but also had my period starting so any loss is great! I am not dieting just trying to be more mindful around food and eating more protein. So far so good!

omega4ever · 20/04/2024 17:56

Following this thread.
Have ordered MJ today and 🙏will be here to start tues/ wed next week.
Im sadly morbidly obese despite being pretty active and enjoying lots of healthy foods.....Im planning to track calories too.

Learning lots from you recent starters and very motivating.

GoingDownDown · 20/04/2024 18:56

Thanks for this thread OP!

I’m due for my second dose tonight. Felt a little effect after the first jab but only for a couple of days. No side effects!

I was on wegovy, but couldn’t find a dose that gave me the wanted effect without horrendous side effects. When I did feel the effect it was amazing! So I’ve my fingers crossed that Mounjaro will work better for me.

schoolie258 · 20/04/2024 19:43

@Ghilliedu - well done, that's a great loss for one week! Hopefully you're less nervous about the injections. I feel the same. It's not the needles it's more the stuff going in

I took my first jag yesterday. So far no side effects. No appetite. I've ate around 1200 calories today (breakfast, lunch, dinner) but only because I know I still need to eat, otherwise, I'm not really fussed about food. It's so weird!! I've had a protein shake and picked healthier options. I have no cravings for junk

Hi all
Hope it's okay to join the thread!
I started wegovy on the 6th of April
I moved it forward a few days so I now inject on a Wednesday.
Haven't really had any side effects other than mild constipation so far, I did try saxenda a few years ago and the side effects from that were way worse!
I've ordered 0.5 for the next pen so hoping I don't get a load of side effects with it.

Start weight 75.9kg
Goal weight 60kg
Current weight 72.5kg so I've lost 3.4kg since I started two and a bit weeks ago

It's definitely suppressed the food chatter in my head and I've found it easier to cut down on what I'm eating!

schoolie258 · 20/04/2024 03:23

@PrimalLass oh okay, I was just asking because I take Levo and I'm on Mounjaro. I wonder why med express denied you due to the thyroid thing

I think they don't like the unknown of NDT when there's a weak link with thyroid cancer. Which is fair enough.

PrimalLass · 20/04/2024 20:07

Plus loads of us used a mega discount code in the same week and I bet they would have made no money on the sale.

MendaciousMabel · 20/04/2024 20:53

I really have no appetite at all today. I’ve just had toast for dinner because I don’t really fancy anything. We’ve been out and about most of the day so no time to cook but ordinarily I’d have wanted a takeaway or something. I had a glass of Prosecco while I was out and enjoyed it but didn’t feel like I wanted to drink more.

That’s exactly it. It’s the pushing of the button. I just need to not think about it. Managed my second one fine today so I think it’ll get easier each week.

I was the same as you when I started and had absolutely no appetite for about 3 days. This week, after my 2nd dose, I’m not getting the same suppression. I’ve eaten pretty normally today. I even had pizza with the rest of the family tonight and last week I would have felt ill at the thought of pizza. Hoping tomorrow is better!

StaySpicy · 21/04/2024 01:24

Hi, I'm joining! Took my first Wegovy yesterday evening. So far, all I have is soreness at the injection site (leg), which isn't totally unexpected as the last time I had to inject (blood thinning after giving birth) I had the same. Fingers crossed it's the only issue I have!

SW: 12st 13
GW: 9st 7 (but I'll take anything below 11st!)

NoImNotCurvyImFat · 21/04/2024 09:17

hello to newbies

I took my second dose yesterday, slight acid reflux not as bad as last week.

i lost 4lbs 😊 I am so pleased clothes are not so snug

I can’t get my head around how 1 biscuit is enough and I am not obsessing about food all the time I just feel physically better I think from not craving/relying on sugar. Even when I have followed a low carb diet I may feel better and craving drop I am still constantly obsessing about what I can’t eat

going to plan my meals better this week so this is what it’s like to just eat normally and not obsess about food it’s bloody great

schoolie258 · 21/04/2024 09:41

Took my first dose on Friday afternoon. I weighed myself today, sunday (just for a laugh?) and I've lost 4lbs already. In 2 days. Unheard of! I didn't expect to see any changes on the scales. I know it'll be water weight etc but I'm still shocked 😮

Wow, @schoolie258 ! Maybe you're one of these super responders some people talk about!

schoolie258 · 21/04/2024 11:31

@StaySpicy haha maybe. I'm sceptical if it will last but I'm not complaining if it does. What week are you on?

OP posts:
schoolie258 · 21/04/2024 11:33

@StaySpicy oh sorry I just read you're on wegovy as of 2 days ago

OP posts:
Ghilliedu · 21/04/2024 12:21

That’s amazing @schoolie258 lomg may it continue!

day 2 after second dose and I feel completely normal. Zero side effects and zero hunger suppression. I’m questioning if I even injected myself at all!

schoolie258 · 21/04/2024 12:37

@Ghilliedu thanks 🤩 do you think after the 4 weeks you will move upto 5mg then if you're not feeling the
Effects now?

OP posts:
Ghilliedu · 21/04/2024 13:09

@schoolie258 Yes I definitely will. Last week when I was feeling sick I thought I might not but now I’m counting the days til I can get onto a therapeutic dose. I’m having to use that old thing called willpower today whereas last week I didn’t have to even think about it til later in the week

schoolie258 · 21/04/2024 13:22

@Ghilliedu - I imagine I'll be the same tbh

GreyFinch · 21/04/2024 14:22

Hi everyone, I’ve just ordered my first mounjaro pen after hitting an all time low with my mental & physical health, and almost hitting 20 stone on the scales. I’ve already began making positive changes but wanting something to help with the process. Does everyone share what they’re doing with friends and family? My husband is against things like this and although he would always support me no matter what, I’ve not mentioned it as I don’t want him to put me off. I’m a little concerned about making it a secret though. What’s everyone’s conversations been like so far?

PrimalLass · 21/04/2024 14:25

I haven't told my partner.
