Following on from the March thread.

Spring is here and it’s time to embrace a fresh new month, a fresh new start & fresh new habits. Jump right in to reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself. These threads are for those who’d like to lose and those who wish to maintain whilst eating a healthy varied diet.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have a WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and eat twice a day. Im a long time healthy eater and overall I’ve lost over 3 stone. After having been on the wrong side of 12st Im now maintaining around 8st 12lb; although I’d like to see another half stone off 😬

Are you in?😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

Feel free to share your own links, tips & recipes

Well done all! It’s very inspiring to see both losses and those that are persevering despite weight staying the same. Gives me a kick up the bum to do the same rather than give it up.

SW: 17 stone
CW: 13 stone 9
GW: 11 stone

no loss for me this week but no gain either which i fully expected. Had a rough week with son teething so have been knackered and eating all the wrong things. The difference is this time I’ve managed to get back on track later in the day rather than go ‘oh well’ and give up for the day. So - will keep on going and try for a loss next week!

NothingTraLaLa · 17/04/2024 22:49

Well done everyone!

I’ve (sort of) got back on track this week, although only maintenance to show for it so far.

SW 128 lbs
CW 117.2 lbs
TW 112 lbs

I'm struggling a bit. I finish my WL Meds this weekend, I'm really happy with the 2st 2lbs I've lost in 25 weeks. I want to continue to lose 2 more stones, happy to do this at a slower pace without the meds. However, I've lost only 3lbs in the last 5 weeks. I know this is down to being back on the weekend 🍷but and easter 🍫but mainly pms bloat from period being 2.5wks late (thanks, peri-meno). It's so frustrating that my hormones are working against me. It just needs to arrive so I can lose those next few lbs that my body is holding onto.

I'm finding it tough with fewer loses but will continue on, happy to be below 13st for the first time in 3 years, I'm not ready to quit. I'm loving fitting into smaller clothes and no knee pain. I just have to take my time and understand it's long term not a short term thing.

So, getting ready for my next Goal. 2st down by the start of Sept, that's at 1lb a week. So I will have to knuckle down and stop the wine and chocolate as it is doing me no favours at the moment. Still at the gym 5x a week for 50mins, I'm loving the increase in weights and increased stamina on the cardio machines, I go for a 2 long dog walks every week, once with my Mum for a catch up and then with my best friend. It's been a really good habit despite caught in the freezing sideways rain on Monday.

Good luck everyone 😊

ChatteringStarling · 18/04/2024 12:51

I can imagine long term motivation being a bit of a challenge @LumionaMoonsplash, especially when the weightloss starts to slow down. You’ve come such a long way already - 2 stone! Wow! 😮 And very well done on building an exercise habit as well!

I didn’t do so well on the exercise front myself yesterday. I’ve also noticed that certain work related things really trigger an urge in me to eat rubbish. Useful to be aware of, but doing something about it is a different matter. Anyone have any tips?

Plan for today:

Carrot & lentil soup, pitta with cheese, apple
Roasted vegetable couscous, yoghurt
Snack - rice cake with houmous & quorn ham

Exercise:

20 min exercise bike
(I’m on the bike as I type this, so definitely know I’ll do it this time)

WeirdPookah · 18/04/2024 13:39

Been for a walk today before the weather has turned, thought it might have been less windy... but not really! 3 mile walk done.

Hoping for a good result weighing in tomorrow.

B: black bean burrito
L: new potatoes, snap peas, butter fried egg
D: roast vegetables, veggie sausage, sunflower seeds
2 small mandarins for snack

Wildflower2022 · 18/04/2024 15:50

My sleep really does affect how well I eat in the day. Need to work on this, I’m naturally a bit of a night owl but I really need to get into the habit of getting to bed a bit earlier. Good night sleep last night, feeling good and and as a result:

B: homemade granola with semi skimmed milk
L: leftover lentil, olive and roasted red pepper mix and chicken
D: will be Moroccan roasted carrot and lentil soup with naan.
snacks have been a tangerine and apple today.

Flowerchild547 · 18/04/2024 16:03

So pleased to see everyone trying their best to be accountable and persevering!

NSW victory today - for the first time, someone had noticed I lost weight! I was losing motivation and had to started to think if there was any point as I can’t see a difference and no one else seemingly had but my neighbour asked this morning if I’d lost weight! A little bit of something to keep me going.

LumionaMoonsplash · 18/04/2024 19:40

Yay @Flowerchild547 . I had that too today, my beautician has never known me smaller and noticed my weight loss today, which I loved.

CurlsnSunshinetime4tea · 18/04/2024 23:52

still trying to get into the right zone.
i'll report back when i've had a good few days/better mindset.

WeirdPookah · 19/04/2024 12:21

Weighed in today: Lost 5lbs this week.

Total down: 60lbs

Been shopping this morning, will go for a short walk at school pick up time.

B: spiced porridge, apple, almond butter, maple sugar
L: green banana curry, pak choi, 2 poppadom's (microwaved)
D: miso peanut tofu, broccoli

rainbow616 · 19/04/2024 12:30

SW 01/01/24- 13st 5.4lbs
CW 19/04/24- 12st 11.4lbs
GW 17/05/24- 12st 5lbs

Bit disappointed I've only lost 8lbs since the start of the year but I haven't been doing well in the last month or so, but I'm back on it now! I've upped my steps by adding in an early morning dog walk. Back to eating healthily as well!

Hope everyone else is doing well 😊 x

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 19/04/2024 13:05

Wow, well done @WeirdPookah !

@rainbow616 don’t be disheartened - 8lbs is better than no pounds. I’m in a bit of a similar situation as was a bit rubbish March/early April, though back on it now.

good luck in getting back to the right zone @CurlsnSunshinetime4tea

Lovely when your efforts are recognised @Flowerchild547 !

Today’s menu…

B - protein bagel with two rashers of turkey bacon
L - home made lentil and tomato soup, mint club biscuit
D - lamb pilaf

No exercise scheduled today as it’s a rest day on my strength bootcamp, but I might try and get out for short walk later. Planning to stay away from the Friday night wine as I have a few social things next weekend which are likely to be a bit boozy, and I’m trying to balance my overall alcohol intake.

Good luck in navigating the weekend and all its temptations!

WeirdPookah · 20/04/2024 19:15

@WhatWouldTheDoctorDo thank you! Some must have been water weight from eating lots of sugar over easter holidays, but I did work hard so will take the 'well done'!

Went for a walk early today, then had a children's party and eep lots of socialising and I am wiped out now. Didn't buy chips or anything even though party was over lunch time. Came home (eventually, seriously tourists, use the bloody crossings on the prom, that's what they are bloody for!) and had cocoa in cottage cheese with blueberries.

B: miso mushrooms, fried egg, 1 slice toast
L: low fat cottage cheese with cocoa, blueberries
D: banana-blossom mini burritos, peppers, tomatoes

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 21/04/2024 20:37

Definitely take the well done @WeirdPookah ! I live in a city that gets very popular with tourists in the summer, I swear they think they’re Teflon coated! Where they come from that doesn’t require the use of pedestrian crossings and feel perfectly safe ambling in the road taking photos I do not know!

Doing ok this weekend, a few treats, but they were planned for in nutracheck and I’m drinking much less wine than I ever would have done on a weekend at home before, so that’s a real change for the better.

FlabMonsterIsDietingAgain · 22/04/2024 06:37

Weekly weigh in:

SW - 1st Jan - 225 lb (16 st 1 lb - BMI 34.2)
Loss this week - 3 lb
CW - 22nd Apr - 195 lb (13 st 13 lb - BMI 2.6)

Total Loss - 30 lb (13% bodyweight)

ChatteringStarling · 22/04/2024 10:50

Week one of my radical lifestyle transformation completed. I didn’t do too badly, but there’s plenty of room for improvement - food wise, I managed to increase the amount of “real food” I’m having, but definitely still too many snacks. Work turns out to be a massive trigger for snacking. Need to get that under control somehow?!

On the exercise front - 4 x 30 min exercise sessions, plus a few long walks. Just need to keep that up and do a bit more yoga. I attempted a plank last week and managed about 10 seconds…so much room for improvement there! 😂

Today’s plan -

Egg fried rice, yoghurt
Roasted vegetable couscous & halloumi
A small snack or two - not sure what that looks like yet!

Exercise - a short yoga session & a walk (weather permitting)

Have a good week everyone!

LemonDrizzle23 · 22/04/2024 10:51

Well I had a poorly child over the weekend, so no gym or walking here.

Need to get back on top of my eating. Have been tired and spent the weekend eating crisps 😬

Priorities this week:

  • 18:6 fasting
  • at least 10,000 steps a day
  • religious use of nutracheck for calorie counting!

I hope everyone is having a good start to the week.

WeirdPookah · 22/04/2024 11:16

Yesterday was ok, food on plan.

B: banana waffles, berries, yogurt, cashew butter
L: poke bowl (no noodles)
D: German lentil dish, cauliflower/potato mash, sauerkraut

Today been busy in the kitchen after going shopping. Batch cooked a brown basmati, forbidden black rice and urid dal mix. Got a mixed lentil dal in the slow cooker.

Also batch cooked plain mung beans to make an Air Nomad curry from new A:TLA cookbook which my daughter and I are geeking out over!!

B: black soy bean burrito
L: avocado, tomatoes, fried egg on toast
D: lentil bolognaise, broccoli, cheese (family has pasta)

Hoolahoophop · 23/04/2024 09:52

Just checking in to see how well everyone is doing and keep me motivated.

Today I had a 4k jog/run my third time out in two weeks so I am getting back into it. Aim is three times a week. Also been doing some Pilates core strength exercises daily from my Garmin account.

Trying to be good with food. Today I have

B 1 slice whole meal bread topped with 2 scrambled eggs. Just egg, no butter and unbuttered toast. (250)
L Husband picked up a crayfish and mango salad from m&s yesterday for me. Its quite big so I will have half today and half tomorrow. Plus a banana (300)
D Fajitas, chili and rice or spaghetti bolognaise not sure which yet, all with half the carb I would normally have and a big side salad to fill the plate. (600)

1150 total for the day. If any comes in lower once I have measured and weighed or I don't fancy the banana ill have a treat with TV tonight.

Aiming to stick to an average of 1200 across the week, will have two fasting days where I hope to be 1000 and the weekends always go a bit wonky, plus I have two parties this weekend so will be difficult.

WeirdPookah · 23/04/2024 12:36

Been for a 3 mile walk this morning, not impressed by the new earphones, they are really affected by the wind, and, well, walking on the prom/cliffs, it's always windy! I don't want to wear my big noise cancelling ones while walking though.

Food is going ok today, prepped dinner already.

B: black soya bean burrito
L: mixed dal, fresh spinach
D: minestrone, chicken, pesto

Oanyerselhen · 23/04/2024 23:14

I've fallen off the wagon. Currently chasing it.... 🏃🏼‍♀️

Will weigh tomorrow and work towards a restart!

If only it were so hard to gain as it feels to lose....

TeenLifeMum · 23/04/2024 23:18

hit a plateau so my brain decided a binge would help 🙄 oh well, just one day and I’ve been back on it today. Made it to the gym even if it was only a 40 minute class. I usually stay after and use the equipment for a bit but couldn’t face it tonight.

janeljl · 24/04/2024 06:33

Is it Wednesday?

SW 9st 6.8lb
CW 9st 4.5lb
GW 8st 12

I've gained 1lb over the weekend with DH's birthday and 'decluttering' the last of the Easter eggs. I'm blaming my hormones for the complete absence of self control!

Back on it this week and plan to resist the cake at play group this afternoon. I did a 10 min weights workout yesterday and it felt ok. I have rubbish knees though so will have to see if I can keep it going.

Good luck today everyone x

mustbefunny · 24/04/2024 06:41

SW: 152lbs
CW: 152lbs (-1lb since last week)
TW: 140lbs
New mini target: 150lbs

I blame the sun ☀️🫣

I had planned a healthy weekend but then the glorious sun made white wine spritzers and pretzels in the garden seem such a good idea.

I seem to have completely lost whatever will power I had the last time I lost weight a couple of years ago. I'm in a constant battle either way myself about enjoying the here and now and accepting that I'm older and a bit curvier and wanting to fit into my jeans!

I'm hoping mini goals will help. We have got a busy weekend but I can at least drink lots of water and go for long walks.

LemonDrizzle23 · 24/04/2024 07:14

After another vaguely dodgy week (sick child and bad knee, plus loads of crisps), unsurprisingly I've had a small gain.

Was tempted not to weigh this morning, but do want to stay accountable!

SW: 97.2
CW: 93
10%: 88

I know what works, just need to get back to doing it. Annoying....

Sorry to see a few others plateauing. Let's give ourselves a mutual kick up the backside!
