Following on from the March thread.

Spring is here and it’s time to embrace a fresh new month, a fresh new start & fresh new habits. Jump right in to reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself. These threads are for those who’d like to lose and those who wish to maintain whilst eating a healthy varied diet.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have a WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and eat twice a day. Im a long time healthy eater and overall I’ve lost over 3 stone. After having been on the wrong side of 12st Im now maintaining around 8st 12lb; although I’d like to see another half stone off 😬

Are you in?😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

Feel free to share your own links, tips & recipes

Hello, I haven't posted in a long time and have been off plan for a number of weeks too. I've still been making an effort to eat nutritious meals, but have also been eating far too much sugary stuff. I have decided to make a fresh start now that the school holidays and Easter are over.

SW/CW 78.1kg
First mini goal 75kg
GW 73kg

Menu today
B Overnight oats and chia seeds with raspberries
L Mexican egg rolls and crispy kale
D Vegetable curry with mini naan
S cashews and frothy coffee

LemonDrizzle23 · 15/04/2024 12:29

Well I managed to get vaguely back on track over the weekend. Not a calorie deficit, but good whole, home cooked foods. Haven't weighed myself though 😬 DS has gone back to school, so I have much more time.

My intentions for this week are:

  • IF every day
  • 10,000 steps a day
  • 3 x gym visits
  • 1 planned meal out on Saturday
  • no takeaways

My weight loss has completely halted for the last 3-4 weeks due to illness, holidays and Easter school break. Looking forward to seeing the scales moving downwards again! We can do this!

FlabMonsterIsDietingAgain · 15/04/2024 12:55

Stayed the same this week but today is the beginning of week 16 for me so thought I'd do a bit of a summary.

Started 1st Jan 2024 at 225lb, 16st 1lb, 102kg
Current weight - 198lb, 14st 2lb, 90kg

BMI has dropped from 34 to 30.

According to my scales:
Body fat reduced by 3%
Muscle mass increased by 2%

According to Apple health my stats have reduced in the following areas:

• average respiration rate
• avg resting heart rate
• walking heart rate

rainbow616 · 15/04/2024 13:13

@FlabMonsterIsDietingAgain wow, that's amazing!! I seriously need to get back into it! I was doing well and then I just fell back into old ways!

WeirdPookah · 15/04/2024 13:24

So, here I am back, after going away on holiday, limited space for cooking, and of course all the easter chocolates, hot cross buns and butter etc!

Weighed in today at 12lbs up from my previous lowest at end of March. I hope to lose maybe 5lbs this week of bloating from cutting out the sugar etc by eating on plan this week.

Still a total of 55lbs down on this fresh attempt to better my health.

B: kidney bean burrito
L: omelette, peppers, tomatoes
D: mango almond korma with chicken, cauliflower

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 15/04/2024 16:23

welcome back @WeirdPookah

good work @FlabMonsterIsDietingAgain it’s been ages since I recorded all my stats properly, i might do that on WOW to see how mine compare.

mustbefunny · 16/04/2024 07:54

Hi all! I'm also just back from holiday - way too much eating and drinking but had a fab time! I'm aiming for a 24hr fast to counterbalance some of this - already on 16hrs and not feeling even slightly hungry (which shows how full I was beforehand 🫢). Will aim for an early, healthy dinner tonight and then WOW tomorrow to get my starting weight for the next 6 weeks.

WeirdPookah · 16/04/2024 13:53

@WhatWouldTheDoctorDo thank you!

Been for a very windy 3 mile walk, on holiday we got hit by Storm Kathleen, I've never heard rain like it. Last time we went we had Storm Betty!! And now home and it's still flipping WINDY!!

Pleased to be getting back into some routine, last term was chaos, this term should be quieter at school. Ordered a new MP3 player, as I can't be without something to walk with and just don't want loads of space taken on my phone with it.

B: kidney bean burrito
L: tahini siracha lentils with leeks and cauliflower
D: veggie meatballs, cabbage, mashed swede/carrot, gravy

ChatteringStarling · 16/04/2024 19:02

I’d love to join you all!

I’m aiming for a complete lifestyle overhaul, but am starting small - eating more “real food” and being more active are the first two habits I’d like to get back into. I used to be a bit of an exercise enthusiast, but a serious respiratory infection put a stop to that. I’ve been trying to find my way back to reasonable fitness & health ever since (18 months+). It’s been hard!

I won’t be weighing mysel or count calories over the next few weeks, but may do so at some point in the future. Think it’d just depress me too much right now! Aiming to be down a dress size at some point this Summer. Slow & steady 😊

Today’s meals/ snacks:

Egg fried rice, veg & a few nuts
Matar paneer
Apple & small chunk of cheese
Pear & yoghurt

Exercise:

45 min walk (not planned, but the sun’s out here so I felt I should make the most of that)
20 min exercise bike

EndlessGuineaPigCycle · 16/04/2024 20:47

Hope everyone had a good day. I'm feeling pleased I managed to stick to plan for 2 days now! Menu for today:
B Porridge with flax seeds, raspberries and pomegranate
L Mexican egg rolls and crispy kale
D Lentil Bolognese
S Highlights, Cashews, coconut yoghurt with pomegranate

LemonDrizzle23 · 16/04/2024 20:56

Welcome @ChatteringStarling 👋 lots of us making lifestyle overhauls on this thread!

Start of the week has gone well. Getting my step count back up - avoiding the hailstones 😂 what was that today?!
Not expecting a loss tomorrow, but pleased to be getting back on track.

DH is away for work, so I'm currently bingeing 'Brooklyn 99'...

mustbefunny · 17/04/2024 06:17

WOW 17.04.24

SW: 152lbs
CW: 153lbs
TW: 140lbs

+1lb since start but actually up +4lbs since I last weighed.

However, in a bid to be kind to myself, it shows how being mindful some of the time can help as if I hadn't had a good week earlier in the month, I'd be more than a lb up overall 😆

  • 18:6
  • meals for the day planned
  • cycling to work
FlabMonsterIsDietingAgain · 17/04/2024 06:56

WOW and I have hit my first big goal 🎊🎉🙌

As of today I am 'just' overweight, not obese.

SW - 1st Jan 2024 - 225lb
CW - 17th April 2024 - 197lb

BMI - 30

LemonDrizzle23 · 17/04/2024 07:23

Nicely done @FlabMonsterIsDietingAgain That is a great goal to reach! It's definitely a big one on my list.

Well my two days back on track has led to a 0.1kg loss this week. So hopefully a proper full week of it will be productive.

SW: 97.5kg
CW: 92.6kg
10%: 88kg

Good luck to everyone with their WOW!

RunnyPaint · 17/04/2024 07:39

I've been careful and my early weigh-in yesterday was good (9 st 5), but this morning I'm a pound up (9 st 6) 😭

Possibly water retention as period may be on its way (I'm 49, it's becoming less predictable).

Hoping the scales are kinder to the rest of you!

Rewis · 17/04/2024 08:02

SW: 97kg
Last week: 95.2kg
CW: 95.2kg
GW I: 90kg
0kg this week

Flowerchild547 · 17/04/2024 08:22

Well done to everyone on their hard work this week! It’s great to see people’s achievements.
2lbs down again this week! I’ve upped my water and step count and it seems to be helping.
The weather is much brighter here so it’s really helping on the walking motivation point.

SW: 17st 10
CW: 15st 13
GW: 10st 10
Total Loss: 25lb

tiredwitlessagain · 17/04/2024 09:55

SW 13st
CW. 12st 6lb
GW 11st
Exactly the same weight as last week, so 0 loss but I've had a family issue so not focusing on daily calorie intake last 5 days. Not gone completely off plan though. Back on 1500 cals per day from today and aiming for 10k steps.
Well done to all who've lost weight , and hang in there anyone who hasn't!

talkingdeadscot · 17/04/2024 10:26

Morning all! I didn't record my weight last week as I stayed the same and still stayed the same this week.

It's a bit frustrating but I guess I'll just have to carry on and let my body catch up with itself. I've consoled myself with having a massive sort out of my clothes. I've gone from a size 18 to a 10/12 with 10kg still to go. My brain hasn't caught up yet though, I keep looking at clothes and thinking that's tiny, I can't possibly fit into that and then I do.

Current state of play after 10 months;

SW - 93kg
CW - 65kg
GW - 55kg

Not sure where that other 10kg is going to come from....... hopefully my waist and calves.

Keep going, it's all worth it in the end despite the loose skin!

WeirdPookah · 17/04/2024 10:27

Going to do my weigh in on Friday as I prefer that, well the losses and the perseverance being shown to everyone above!

Been for a walk to collect my new MP3 player so I can get some music back on my walks.

B: black bean burrito
L: garlic black pepper mushrooms, eggs
D: fishfingers, cauliflower/potato mash, mushy peas, green peas

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 17/04/2024 13:04

Hi everyone. I’m back to 10st 7lbs today, so that’s the Easter excess gone. My intermediate goal was 10st 4lbs, but I’d love to get to 10st by the summer. I was 13st-ish at my heaviest so I’m really pleased - just need to get over that final hurdle.

today’s menu
b - boiled egg with toast
l - home made lentil & bacon soup, small portion of chicken for extra protein, pear for fibre
d - chilli and rice

exercise - I’m doing a less mills strength bootcamp, so was up at 6 for a mobility/core workout, as I was supposed to be going out tonight but have cancelled.

No snacks so far.

well done to everyone that has reported a loss today, some fab results. Solidarity to those that haven’t, it’s not easy, but keep up the focus and you’ll get there!

EndlessGuineaPigCycle · 17/04/2024 13:09

Hi, Just checking in with my WoW this week. I only weighed myself on Monday after restarting my weight loss efforts, but have managed a 3lb loss in two days. That's all water loss I know, but I'll take that!

My plan is to keep batch cooking meals for the freezer and planning and recording my food each day.

ChatteringStarling · 17/04/2024 13:12

Well done on those losses everyone!

My plan for today:

Carrot & lentil soup and a pitta bread, pear & yoghurt
Spicy bean wrap and salad, possibly with a small portion of potato wedges, apple

I’ve planned a gentle & shortish yoga session for today. If the rain stops at some point, I’ll try to get in a walk.

Hoolahoophop · 17/04/2024 13:20

Bad couple of weeks as routine, planning and discipline go out the window with school holidays (even when I am at work!) so lost all the progress I had made since starting but.... todays WOW

SW: 58.2Kg
CW: 57.4kg
GW: 50kg

Been oh so good this week so far, ok so its only two days 😂.

Today is a fast day, so no breakfast. A poached egg or two for lunch on one slice of bakers wholemeal bread, and for dinner a relatively normal meatballs and pasta, but half the pasta will be saved for tomorrow and ill top up the plate with salad. Aiming for 800cal.

I've not had my walks due to work commitments, but have fitted in 10 minute Pilates or strength work each day.

Only black coffee, fruit teas and water.

Really well done @FlabMonsterIsDietingAgain that a really amazing achievement. And of course to everyone else, loss or gain, if your still counting it then your doing a great job!

ApricitySeeker · 17/04/2024 14:43

Hi all, just checking in with my WoW. I’ve been reading the thread but not had much of a chance to post. Been run off my feet with 3 little DC over the Easter hols and now they are meant to be back in school eldest DS has come down with tonsillitis 😫

Had a good loss this week of 1.3kg and I’m really happy with this, headed in the right direction! I’m trying to keep remembering how good I felt after I lost all the weight before I got pregnant with DC3 and it’s keeping me motivated.

SW - 81kg
CW - 75.9kg
GW - 62kg
